While it helps, I would not say it makes up for it. I think the stage version is so much better. Definitely see it if you get the chance.

Re: Rent

I have to agree with sllagnire.

I've seen the show twice, the first time with Jed Resnick and Heinz Winckler, the second time with Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal. It's my second favorite show, only edged out by Sweeney Todd (which I've also seen twice).

That's funny. I had the same experience (well I don't know who it was the first time, but the second time I saw Anthony and Adam). And it is my favorite.

Re: Rent

I love RENT. I've only seen the movie, but a local theatre is doing it in their next season. ^_^ Sooooo excited!!!! My favorite character is Angel, but I also really like Mark and Maureen. My favorite songs are "Seasons of Love," "Light My Candle," "La Vie Boheme," and "Take Me or Leave Me."

Go see the show, DobbySock. The show is a lot better than the movie. If you like the film you'll love the show.

Re: Rent

Just saw the hollywood bowl production of Rent in LA last weekend. Despite Vanessa Hudgens being Mimi, I still loved it. The music was great, and the guy who played Roger (Aaron Tveit) was amazing. Who knew that he could do tortured/brooding Roger so well. I didn't even recognize him at first. He was so preppy looking in GG. What a phenomenal voice! Wish they could get him on glee and give him a chance to show off his talents!

Re: Rent

I've recently become a RENThead... I've yet to see a theatre version of it though. I LOVE the movie. My favorite characters are Roger and Mimi, and my favorite song is La Vie Boheme, because it's the last time all the characters are together having fun. It's just a such a cheery, "we rock, you can go shove it" type of song.

I've listened to the soundtracks from both the movie and the OBC, and I have to say that I can't stand OBC Mimi. Her voice, I think, just sounds awful. Rosario Dawson has an amazing voice, though.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 almost made me a Snape-fan. . .almost. But then I re-read Deathly Hallows and I came back to my senses and the world was the way it's supposed to be.

Re: Rent

I love RENT!!! My mom took me to see the traveling Broadway show when I was in high school. I fell in love with it. I bought the book and then when the movie came out I was in Heaven!

Re: Rent

I became a RENTHead almost 2 years ago (2 years in January 2011). I first saw the movie and loved it. Several months later, I bought the DVD of the final Broadway performance which made me fall in love with it all over again. I now own the movie, movie soundtrack, final Broadway performance DVD, and OBC CD's.

I live about 2 hours north of Seattle, Washington, and would have loved to have seen the latest touring production when it came to Seattle. Unfortunately, I had final exams at the same time it was playing.

Re: Rent

I LOVE RENT!!! I've been a RENTHead for well over 2 years, I love the movie, the show, and everything! I've seen lots of school editions on YouTube, and they're amazing but I don't know why they cut out half of Christmas Bells I wasn't keen on Vanessa Hudgens as Mimi, but was very pleased with the Hollywood Bowl performance. I'm very sad Rent has closed (why is it always typed in capitals?)
