Return of Sirius Black?

It'd be nice if there was a portrait for Harry to talk to, but who paints portraits really if they can just use a camera instead? None of the portraits we've seen are very recent, are they? His family disowned him, so they probably burned anything with his face in it too. And he's spent a good chunk of his life in prison or on the run. The chances of there being a portrait of him somewhere are slim, I think.

If sirius is gone (god bless him ) mayb Lupin my second fav character will taKe up the part that sirius had on harry even though it wont be the same they will be able o comfort each other as sirius and lupin had got very close

Possible. They might have had one done of all the Marauders or something. Do you think if you paint one after the person is dead you can still capture their essence or whatever in it?

Actually after reading the bit about ghosts I was amazed that I hadn't already predicted that after someone close to Harry dies, he tries to find out if they can become a ghost. I knew someone was going to die, and I knew Harry would examine death and find out about ghosts forming, but for some reason I didn't make the connection...

We don't know if Sirius is dead (We didn't know the spell so...) We know that he went trough the veil and we supposed that if you go trough there you go to the dead people world. Sirius can transform into a dog, a big black dog. In the Greek mythology the keeper of the underworld was a big, three headed dog. So I think that maybe (as he is not dead) he can become something similar. What do you think about?

Yes, he's dead. He always will be dead. I think it would be too traumatic if he all of a sudden was not dead. Honestly, I don’t want him to come back either. (I know I’m insensitive but he wasn’t one of my favorite characters.)

sirius' death will pay a big toll in the plot. for one thing, harry will have a stronger will and he'll be braver. i just hope he'll stop blaming himself for the death

i do not believe he id dead, for 1 he was hit by a stunning spell or another red type spell not a green spell, avada kedavera, and bellatrix said "i was fighting the animagus black" not "i was fighting and defeated the animagus black". jk rowling said she wrote a horrible death, i do not think this was sirius, i think it was harry's. it was either she wrote of his innocence dying the moment he heard the prophecy or the prophecy itself that was his written death. when in the forest the cenatus said "this one nears manhood". i also think that the title reffered not to the order as in the group but to harry, his innocence dying and a new one being born, the sorcerrers stone was the purpose for the 1st book, so was the chamber for the 2nd, the prisoner for the 3rd and the goblet lead to the plot for the 4th, the group didn't have much to do with the plot, therefore i believe sirius is still alive

I am clinging, small though it was, that Padfoot is alive. I still can't get over the fact that he died. But hey he survived Azkaban for 12 years & that is no mere accomplishment so I hope that he survived that "veil" to

when jk did an interview she said that she had finished writing all the books!!!! well that has nothing to do with this thread........ well sirius was hit by a stunning spell he fell into the veil which is probably the gate way to mcdonalds.

I don't think the key to answering the question is in JK Rowling's interviews - if you ask me, i reckon she'd be waaay upset over the death whether or not he was coming back -- i mean, i was really upset when Gandalf fell in FotR, even though i knew he was coming back - and as an author, Rowling's going to be waay more attached to her characters than i am.

I think the key to the answer is in Sirius' personality. Think about it logically:
- If he goes on, he'll be reunited with James and Lily
- If he goes on, Harry will eventually join him, and they'll all be together

If he COMES BACK:
- He'll spend a short lifetime with harry
- He'll never see James and Lily again

Also - think about NIck's words. I think it's preeeetty obvious. Perhaps we'll come across a memory of Sirius, but no, he won't come back as a ghost.

I don't think Sirius will come back as a ghost or is a portrait. Like when do you think they had the time? He was in Azkaban most of his life, and who ever seen a portrait of a teenager? Though I doubt these theories, I don't doubt he will come back

Well, I can't see Sirius coming back, but maybe Luna and Harry will learn a way to go through the veil and come back again. Or just get near enough to communicate. It's all so strange ... the arch and the veil. And Luna knows more than she's said so far. I don't think she's keeping secrets. No one has actually asked her, yet.
