I think that any death is hard for any author, an author gets to know her characters and then she has to kill them off, whether they're going to come back or not, it would still be hard to kill your creation, I think that even though Sirius was a full grown man JK still looked on him as one of her children and we know for sure he's not going to be the same if he does come back, the Sirius we knew is gone, and that's devstating.

JK thinks he's definitely, unequivocally dead. I trust the author's judgment on something like that. However, just because he's dead and he's not a ghost does not mean that he's gone.

I believe him to be dead in his physical form. But it was just too much of a coincidence for Luna to be talking about the veil like that right at the end of the book. I have a feeling she will have alot to do with the last 2 books. And I still feel that Harry and Sirius will still be able to communicate at a later point. Though Sir Nick didn't seem to feel that Sirius would choose to stay as a ghost.
Those are my thoughts.

Yeah, I too feel that they will be able to communicate. I hated the fact that he died, I cried my eyes out. If he can't get in touch with Sirius that would just be too much to handle.

I know that Sirius is dead because he would not lie to Harry. Remember in the chapter 36 of OotP when Harry is yelling at Sirius to come back from behind the veil, Harry realizes that Sirius was dead "But some part of him realized,...that Sirius had never kept him waiting before...Sirius had risked everything, always, to see Harry, to help him...If Sirius was not reappearing out of the archway when Harry was yelling for him as though his life depended on it, the only possible explanation was that he could not come back...that he really was..."(pg. 808) OotP

I think he is dead. However, I expect he may show up in a portrait or otherwise be able to communicate in the future.

I just thought I'd say that JKR said she was sobbing when she "killed" the character... I mean that's gotta say something eh? :P And Harry thinking about knowing that Sirius was dead when he called to him through the veil. And what about Sir Nick? He even seemed to know(He could tell by what Harry was starting to say of course.).

So yeah, he's definetely dead.!

However, I strongly believe we'll see more of him in the near future, not through the living, but in some way and form. I'll miss him if we don't. I didn't think I cared about him, but I do now. And I'll really miss him if he's not back in one way or another. But I'll understand if he's not...

So my fingers are crossed that we'll find a portrait of him or something.!

Sirius is such an important character, I refuse to believe that we've seen the last of him even though he is dead. His death is going to horribly affect Harry and, of course, everyone in the Order is going to be constantly reminded of him because they're all still living in his house. Even if we don't see Sirius in any physical form in the future (though I think he'll at least show up in a portrait or something) we'll definitely see the effects of his death. I feel revenge coming on!

O by the way, happy belated b-day Harry and JK!

why would jkr kill sirius it really doesn't make sense unless she was killing off harry's closest thing to family only to pop on us someone mysteriously related to him in future books

This death had to mean something and, interestingly, Sirius was the only person who could have been killed whose death could have saved Harry from Voldemort but not completely crippled him for the rest of the war.

JK brought no closure on sirius's death, if she really wanted to show how sudden and unexpected death could be, I'm sure she could have done this in many other ways.

Falling through a veil, to me is a pretty lame way to "die", especially for SIRIUS BLACK.

If Sirius's death was so "final" why on earth didn't she bring US any final closure?

Sirius should have died imho in in a fierce fight outnumbered 10 to one, and taking them all with him in the end, but too badly wounded to carry on himself ...

Instead of falling through some stupid veil.

u cant kill off a main character when they are so close to Harry. Sirius may be dead but I have a strong feeling that it isnt the last of him. I hope.

I am still desperatley clinging to the fact that we don't know what spell Bellatrix used on him. But in reality I think he's dead. I was a bit disappointed that his death was a bit feable in Sirius standards though. I would have expected a long drawn out fight to the bitter end not just ooops feel through a bit of material.

You maybe get cut in half or maybe you get sucked in. I dunno.

I think sirius is dead sadly.

It was weird to read when he died and wondered how it could be true. I felt it happened so fast and with no explanation. I want some closure to his death. I hope book 6 will explain why it had to be Sirius. Why not someone else?

The Room of Requirement gives the seeker what they have need of, so couldn't the Room provide a way for Harry to talk to Sirius (or his parents, for that matter) when he really has a need of it?

That really is something interesting about the Room of Requirements. I'm pretty sure we'll see Harry use it again many more times now that he knows about it.
