Yeah, that would be a bummer.

Re: The Simpsons

I loved the 500th episode, it was great. They pushed the boundaries a little more this time and I found it extremely funny.

Me too. The only part I didn't like was the whole flashing through all of the beginning of the episodes O_O. That was just too fast .

Spoiler: show
Especially loved how Marge (iirc) said, come on everybody, lets stop watching Fox (as in a literal fox on a rock ) and go outside.

And poor, poor Ned, actually trying to help the Simpsons, and gets the baloney beaten out of him...

This episode was one of the better ones I've seen in some time.

What did you really like about it?

Re: The Simpsons

Did anyone see this week's episode?

It was pretty good.

Spoiler: show
Loved how Bart and Milhouse went around town tagging things ... and my favorite part was when Chief Wiggum (who has to be the scariest naked guy wearing a fig leaf ever ) had Bart go into his rabbit cage... and then Bart had to go to the bathroom, then Wiggum put the cloth over the cage and Bart escapes after leaving the comment on the cloth... 'Pigs in a blanket', along with a little drawing of a pig's head... . That one had me cracking up...

Re: The Simpsons

After 23 years Matt Groening has revealed the real Springfield.

Re: The Simpsons

^That article had no new information for me whatsoever. I'm a Simpsons nerd, though, so no surprise there, but really, there was no answer, because, "Where is Springfield?" isn't much of a question. Matt Groening named the town on his show after his own hometown, and decided it was actually a good idea to do that because Springield is such a common name that tons of viewers would have a Springfield of their own and think it was their Springfield, adding to the any-family, anywhere aspect of the show. Then, "Where is Springfield?" became a thing, so the show started doing jokes about it, and those jokes have been a regular feature of the show for a long time now. It's not like there's a real answer to this question, so it amuses me that it's still a thing. But if I didn't already know that Groening grew up in Springfield, Oregon, and that some characters re named after streets near there, and so on, I'm sure this would be a bigger deal to me.

Re: The Simpsons

I always loved those little in-jokes about the town and where it was really located. Wasn't it revealed in the movie though?

Well, they did that joke about the 5 states that border Springfield.

Um... Matt Groening saying that the Simpson's Springfield is based on Springfield, Oregon I'd say that means the question "Where is Springfield" does have a right answer. Springfield, Oregon.

By the by, anyone who has ever been to Springfield, Oregon figures out very quickly that Spingfield and Eugene are the absolute inspiration for contentious rivalry between Springfield and Shelbyville, there's no doubt about it.

A "real answer" meaning "this show is literally set in Oregon." Obviously, if that were true, we wouldn't have had so many jokes about where this show's Springfield was if it were just Springfield, Oregon. That it's inspired by Springfield, Oregon is different. Plus, the article didn't have Groening straight up saying, "It's in Oregon," but saying that Springfield was inspired by his hometown in the first place. I'm splitting hairs here, but again, my point was that it's funny the way something that's really just a running joke has become an actual question/mystery over the years.

You mean like in FRIENDS: "What does Chandler do for a living?" "He's a transponster!!" Okay, I've seen that show waaaaaaay too many times.

"THAT'S NOT EVEN A WORD!" The test if you have watched Friends way too much is if you can answer what he really does.

Answer: Statistical analysis and data reconfiguration

Re: The Simpsons

Even if the town is in Oregon, I like that Matt never actually said that's where the town is. He wants it to remain a mystery, which is pretty good to me.

Re: The Simpsons

I just want to say that, even though the show doesn't generate many really memorable lines anymore, this one just broke me: "Bart, there's a really mean squirrel in the backyard. I need you to dare me to fight him!" Oh, Homer.

Re: The Simpsons

That's one really funny line. Was it from this week's episode?

Ah, that sounds like typical Homer Simpson to me.

Re: The Simpsons

Why doesn't Homer say funny things like that more often? I miss those...

I agree how the show is long past its best; I hardly think its funny anymore. I mainly watch the new episodes out of habit; Simpsons has been part of my childhood and a part of me is craving for better stuff, but the other is still afraid of the day Simpsons will end...

The writers could do better and I always think of an idea how the fans could write much better plots to them and if they're good enough they'll consider using them, but I know there would be issues that prevent this.

Re: The Simpsons

Yeah, I know. They aren't as funny as they used to be. I barely watch them anymore unless there's nothing else on. It's sad, too, because I've been a Simpsons fan for a long time.
