Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

The words 'stop reading Harry Potter' are not in my vocabulary. My friends and family have gotten over the books now that they're done, but me? Well, I'm here on CoS, posting, aren't I? Almost six months after the release of the final book, I'm stilling thinking about Harry Potter as if there are still seven more books. As long as there are other people on CoS to discuss it with, I'll never stop. And if there isn't, well.... I'll be forced to do so inside my own head! (not that that will happen any time soon!)

neither are the words 'stop discussing Harry Potter'! I joined CoS after DH was released, I don't know why I never joined before! But I think there is even more to discuss now because we can imagine what might happen to Harry in the future, how he goes from defeating Voldemort to being the father of 3 children etc. etc.

As long as there are people to discuss them with I will be around to talk about it . I think there are a lot of life lessons that you can get from the books and I also love to see them through others eyes. I am often discovering new things that I never saw before and it makes the books all the more better in my mind.

I also can't wait to read and discuss them with my daughter. It will be fun to go through and talk about the different issues the books bring up.

I feel so lucky that we all got to experience Harry Potter right while it happened, something no one else will ever be able to say they did. The fact that we were privelaged by Jo to have such an experience like this makes want to pay her back, and I feel like I'm doing that right now by still discussing the books. As long as there are fans, the books will be discussed. Yay for Harry Potter and Jo!

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

Considering I am still discussing Star Trek (the Original Series) which was created and ran before I was born , I see no reason to stop discussing any book or series as long as the conversation is interesting. I have 7 boards I've been a part of for years and although I take long breaks at times, I always end up going back. No better way to spend study breaks or snowed in days like we are having now.

I do not think so. HP books will become classics, like LOTR, or movies like Star wars, etc... There will always be people who read them for the first time and will want to discuss them. And I'll be glad to discuss the books with them.

Harry Potter isn't something thats easy to get over when you're a serious fan like I'm sure most of us are, and even though the series finished, my visits on this forum only went down by slight but I still make the effort to carry on, because discussing Harry is something I don't think I'll ever get tired of.

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

Maybe after I see the last movie a couple times, I'll lose interest for awhile, but it will always be like some other good books I read, I'll reread them again in a few years and enjoy them all over again,
But as for talking about them, I'm doubtful I ever will, some words have become part of my normal vocabulary.

I still think there is still room for more discussion, especially as we have yet to devour the encyclopedia, which I think will hold more suprises. I'm sure that after that comes out I might move away from Potter a bit, but I know I will come back from time to time.

I would never stop discussing the Harry Potter books. Even if you've gone over every single detail in the books, you can still speculate about what happened to the characters in the future, as we will see when the Encyclopedia comes out. But even after that happens, and after the final movie comes out, I think that there will still be fans, myself included, who will continue to talk about what had happened, what will happened, what would have happened if, and what should have happened.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of discussing HP, it's too much fun!

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

I think so, at least for a while, I am 26 now and I can't see myself still discussing HP in lets say 10 years time. That doesn't mean that I won't ever read the books again, but there comes a time when there are more important or other interesting book things to discuss. If I ever have kids, naturally I would get into discussion about the books again.

I think the fact that we're now discussing how we discuss Harry Potter may show slight signs of the discussion never ending Or maybe just a little thing call obsession. I happen to prefer the term "dedicated" however

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

Yes I will. We all will sooner or later. Since JKR keeps giving interviews soon there would be nothing left to talk about because she insists on giving us all the answers to everything. Most fans think her word is law so even if someone has a different interpretation than the "correct" one no one is going to agree anyway. That will probably put an end to discussions. At least to interesting ones.

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

I hope I don't stop discussing Harry Potter. There is another series that I have not stopped reading since the second grade (I am 25 now) even without new books for I think something like 10 years, so I know there's a good possibility that I won't give up HP any time soon. I would continue discussing that other series with people, but no one else seems interested.

Nope. I take breaks from discussing the books, but after each reading of the series there are new things I’ve noticed and old discussions to be brought up again.

Re: Would you ever stop discussing Harry Potter books?

There's so much information, I don't think I will ever stop discussing it.

Just like the Lord of the Rings, which I can't stop talking about either, Harry Potter has new twists and turns and little tidbits hidden away in the pages. No matter where you look, there's something new to talk about.
