Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

Hey guys,
I am new in net surfing. I am using IE (version 6.0). I want to know your opinions about IE and Firefox. Which one you like to prefer to use? Please feel free to give a frank and independent opinion.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I've used both, Firefox is better at not having errors while surfing, while IE is better at being able to remove cookies.

It all depends on what you like in the long run.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I use both. Firefox's pop-up blocker, etc. are so good that it makes some things a little tricky for me, like doing taxes or government applications online, so I use IE when I have trouble with Firefox. I far prefer using Firefox for everything else for that very reason.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

IE takes longer to load a new tab than Firefox, which does it instantly. However, I find that it takes much longer to open the Firefox browser than it does for IE.

Firefox has spell check, which is amazingly useful.

IE seems to “encounter an error and need to close” a heckuva lot more than Firefox does.

Firefox doesn’t “give up” when loading a page; for example, if there are tons of pictures on a site and the internet connection is slow, little red x’s will appear on the pics in IE, but the page just keeps going until everything is loaded in Firefox.

I like the spell check in Firefox, especially when using it on this forum. I still use IE for some things because I don't have all the plug-ins loaded for Firefox.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I updated to IE7 and it was significantly slower than IE6 was, so I tried Firefox. I'm currently using FF and its considerably better than IE ever was.

I've noticed that . It drives me up a wall and I've had that error happen quite a bit during the past week.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

i like firefox far from IE, in fact I dislike IE. IE is slower, has a lot of errors, etc
tech sites will bore you with in-depth "technical details" and performance specs in their product analysis. all i can say is FF is better than IE.
Here it is some stuff i got i cant remember where xD

Internet Explorer - Brain dead newbie. Loves pop-ups, viruses, and spyware. Just wants to "surf the Internet and check my email." Oblivious to alternative lifestyles. Seeks help from "computer smart" nephew.

Firefox - Proselytizing ubergeek. Loves freedom, choice, and tabbed browsing. Just wants to "improve mankind with Open Source Software." Oblivious to market forces and the power of money. Seeks other geeks to join in on the evangelism.

Both are equally annoying.

But if you want my opinion, Opera is better than any of these browsers. It has no errors, blocks pop-ups, removes cookies when needed, ...the browser of the future! I Love Opera

Firefox, it's a better product upon installation and its not even a contest once you get some add-ons for it. Useful addons include Adblock, Videodownloader, SiteAdviser, IETab, DownThemAll.

Firefox 3 has just been launched with lots of additional features (which will take me a while to work out)

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

Firefox is far superior to IE. It is faster, more stable, and can be customized according to your personal preferences by installing add-ons. IE was never meant to be a competitive, high quality browser. It was just included with Windows in an effort to stamp out competition. As a general rule (although there are a few exceptions), if there's any alternative to a Microsoft program you should go with it.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I use both, Firefox at home, IE in university. I definitely prefer Firefox though.
I prefer the layout in Firefox, Pages load quicker and the addons are great. I love being able to change the theme, have colourful tabs, and control iTunes from my browser window. Adblock is great too.
Spellchecker is a brilliant feature too, it's annoying when you're typing a HP related word that it doesn't recognise, but apart from that I love it. Firefox also remembers the tabs you had open if it freezes or something, which is really useful if you had a lot of tabs open at once.

I hate FF 3. The "awesome bar" is a colossal annoyance.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I switched from IE to Firefox once my IE was so infected with viruses that my homepage was changed to a virus site that said "STOP! YOU MUST INSTALL THIS!" and it would not let me navigate away from the page unless I installed more viruses. As in, I would type an address in the bar, click enter, and it would take me back to my virus homepage. The same thing happened with bookmarks.

So far, no such problems with Firefox.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I use neither. I like Safari the most. However, between IE and Firefox, Firefox has pretty cool features, but has those stupid white boxes when i try to type stuff and it's just really annoying, so I prefer IE

The same thing happened to me which is why I switched to Firefox. It took months to clean up my computer. I had to run McAfee, SpyBot and Housecalls consecutively to get rid of all the gunk.

My only objection to Firefox is it doesn't recognize Adobe Acrobat updates. I haven't been able to install 9.0 yet.

This is why I like Firefox so much better.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

Firefox is faster, but (at least to me) IE is so much easier to use. I don't have to go hunting for things like a new tab.

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

I used IE for years at school and home but as soon as I downloaded Firefox at home that was the end of IE. For me Firefox is faster and just more practical. It crashes less and when it does it has an easier and faster restart.

On my mac laptop I use Safari which I think is about equal with Firefox.

Edit: Leah in Firefox you just do control + t for a new tab (or apple + t on a mac).

Re: Drop your opinions (IE Vs Firefox)

Yeah, Safari runs as well as FF in fact, and is better on Mac.
But I still prefer Opera, it has more atractive add-ons.
