My point is, this part would NOT MAKE SENSE, because in OotP SWM he didn't use LEVICORPUS, he used something that sounded like Imperimento or whatever

I don't know, just an observation
That line can be easily cut, and I'd prefer it cut, to add tension after he says HBP.

Edit: James used IMPEDIMENTA

about the infieri...besides the LoR images that pretty much resemble what i imagine another option is the infieri that appear in the Michael Jackson Thriller video...anyone here old enough to know this ones...they look ridiculous cause they were dancing..but at first ,without the music and the cool choreography ...they looked creepy enough ...and yucky enough to fit the idea of an army of the dead...

Yeah, that was my thought, it's a bit wordy and takes away from the drama

Really, it was IMPEDIMENTA? it sounded similar to that but not quite.

That's IRONIC if it was, because I believe that's the ONLY time that Spell has been used.

And it was used EXTENSIVELY throughout the Books along with Stupefy, Protego, Petrificus Totalus, etc.

Another thing that irked me was, IMPEDIMENTA doesn't "hang you upside down", the spell wasn't even shown properly

But then again, have ANY of the Spells been shown PROPERLY (ex. Stupefy )

Seems to me that Stupefy is a somewhat useless spell in the movies considering all it does is knock them backward.

It'll be interesting what Spells will be used in HBP and DH:

There better be a good variation of PETRIFICUS TOTALUS, PROTEGO, STUPEFY, IMPEDIMENTA, etc

And the better be PORTRAYED CORRECTLY!!!

If those were re-made with modern technology, I might just call them my Inferi.

well might be....they were creepy enough in those days...of course dancing they weren't precisely scary...

but i think the general idea would fit the infieri type ...still i stick with the LoR ones...but i wouldn't mind this ones improved like you suggest arrygrotter...specially the one drooling blood...creepy...

They really do look absolutley RIDICULOUS when Dancing, like where they do that "Side to Side" move

Here's another pic, from the Album, just my opinion but they look too much like ZOMBIES:

I'd still prefer a SOLID / NON-TRANSPARENT version of this:

Umm, I'm not sure, but it seems if they were the same JKR would've just called them Zombies

In response to that though, I'm going to re-post AGAIN what I said on the last thread:

Quote:
I'm still confused by the Book description though and I ask for your comments:

Now according to Snape, Inferi has the same definition as Zombie:

How Stuff Works-
Quote:
Many movies and video games have used Romero's concept of zombies. For the most part, zombies are:

Newly dead corpses reanimated by radiation, chemicals, viruses, sorcery or acts of God
Wikipedia-
Quote:
A zombie is a reanimated corpse...

I don't think I neccessarily want simply Zombies, that's un-original and cliche. I envision something like the "Cursed Pirate" skeletons in PotC but with some pale white skin and blank eyeballs.

Again, here is "The Cave" passage with the description of the Inferi:

Quote:
A slimy white hand had gripped his wrist, and the creature to whom it belonged was pulling him, slowly, backward across the rock. The surface of the lake was no longer mirror-smooth; it was churning, and everywhere Harry looked, white heads and hands were emerging from the dark water, men and women and children with sunken, sightles eyes were moving toward the rock: an army of the dead rising from the black water...

...their bony hands clawing at its slippery surface, their blank, frosted eyes upon him, trailing waterlogged rags, sunken faces leering...

...but though gashes appeared in their sodden rags and their icy skin, they had no blood to spill: They walked on, unfeeling, their shrunken hands outstretched toward him, and as he backed away still farther, he felt arms enclose him from behind, thin, fleshless arms cold as death...
You may be right ArryGrotter, according to Snape's Definition they are the same as Zombies

A zombie is a reanimated corpse. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the dead being raised as workers by a powerful sorcerer.

Zombies are mentioned in PS by Quirrell, but Jo maybe hadn't of thought of the name Inferi by then...

I'm really confused...

Edit: ...too

Edit 2:
Quote:
The class everyone had really been looking forward to was Defense Against the Dark Arts, but Quirrell’s lessons turned out to be a bit of a joke. His classroom smelled strongly of garlic, which everyone said was to ward off a vampire he’d met in Romania and was afraid would be coming back to get him one of these days. His turban, he told them, had been given to him by an African prince as a thank-you for getting rid of a troublesome zombie, but they weren’t sure they believed this story. For one thing, when Seamus Finnigan asked eagerly to hear how Quirrell had fought off the zombie, Quirrell went pink and started talking about the weather; for another, they had noticed that a funny smell hung around the turban, and the Weasley twins insisted that it was stuffed full of garlic as well, so that Quirrell was protected wherever he went.

Yeah, but I'm really confused, because they are defined the same:

INFERI-

Severus Snape-
Quote:
"The Inferius is a corpse that has been reanimated by a Dark wizard's spells. It is not alive, it is merely used like a puppet to do the wizard's bidding. A Ghost, as I trust you are all aware by now, is the imprint of a departed soul left upon the earth..."
Albus Dumbledore-
Quote:
"They are corpses, dead bodies that have been bewitched to do a Dark wizard's bidding. Inferi have not been seen for a long time, however, not since Voldemort was last powerful... He killed enough people to make an army of them, of course."
ZOMBIE-

How Stuff Works-
Quote:

Edit 2:
Huh, interesting indeed!!!

I think the difference for me is that in movies Zombies always seem POSESSED and have a HUNGER FOR HUMAN FLESH, like this:

And here is the Wikipedia definition of the MODERN ZOMBIE:

Quote:
Popular culture
Main article: Zombies in popular culture

Modern zombies, as portrayed in books, films, games, and haunted attractions, are quite different from both voodoo zombies and those of folklore. Modern zombies are typically depicted in popular culture as mindless, unfeeling monsters with a hunger for human flesh, a prototype established in the seminal 1968 film Night of the Living Dead. Typically, these creatures can sustain damage far beyond that of a normal, living human and can pass whatever syndrome that causes their condition onto others.

Usually, zombies are not thralls to masters, as in White Zombie or the spirit-cult myths. Rather, modern zombies come in mobs and waves, seeking either flesh to eat or people to kill or infect. Typically, they show signs of physical decomposition such as rotting flesh, discolored eyes, and open wounds, and move with a slow, shambling gait. They are generally incapable of communication, showing no signs of personality or rationality.
But the Inferi, to me are just NORMAL HUMAN CORPSES who are bewitched to guard the Horcrux.

So when I say I don't want Zombies, I mean the MODERN MOVIE ZOMBIE

Ok Icbaseball that was a really disturbing image to me.
Anyways I thought about what the Inferni might look like for a while and I kind of just imagine them to look like regular humans, but just dead and floating around to kill you. Freaky...I know, but that's how I see it now.

Yeah, I'm quite sure THAT would NOT be ALLOWED in HBP, I was creeped out by it too, but I was making a point that I don't want a "Modern Flesh Eating Movie Zombie" type for the Inferi

I agree, that's what it seems Dumbledore and Snape say afterall

they are NORMAL Humans who have been dead a while and are under Voldemorts spell

Since there's two chapters left to discuss (ones of which we discuss frequently), I think we've discussed everything possible, honestly...

Re: The All-Inclusive HBP Movie Thread v.6

Here's something to discuss:

Will the audience question the logic of Voldemort assigning the seemingly impossible task of killing Dumbledore, easily the greatest, most powerful, formidable wizard of the century, a man even Voldemort fears, someone not even the dark lord can defeat to a 16 year old kid?

Now, WE all know Voldemort was only punishing the Malfoys and really intended Snape to do the deed because he will no longer require a spy at Hogwarts since it will soon be under his control but the question is will the film make this clear?

Will people laugh when Draco steps out onto the tower and claims that he is going to kill Dumbledore? If they laugh, is this a good thing? Could it stifle the drama?

hmm...

It's hard to say about the audience questioning Draco's task.

If the film does it right, they will highlight the fact that LUCIUS broke the prophecy (possibly during Spinner's End) and that this is why Draco has been given the task.

If done right, no one will laugh at Draco. The mood has to be set right.
