Re: Movies for when you're a bit down
Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, Love Actually, Elf, The Princess Bride, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde. All are fantastic for viewing when you're depressed.

Whenever I get sick, I watch movies that I used to watch over and over when I was little: The Princess Bride, The Neverending Story, The Little Mermaid, Ghostbusters...

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down
The Princess Bride is a good one. Also, Bridget Jones' Diary! And anything with Hugh Grant in it, I just think he's hilarious!- especially in About a Boy!
They really all make me giggle. |

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down
Yeah, when I'm down or sick, I always put on my old disney movies. Especially Beauty and the Beast, it's my favourite, I watch it over and over. I don't mind putting West Side Story on either, that always makes me feel good...until the end though, then I feel sad again

When I'm feeling miserable or sad, just listening to the music from Enchanted, since I don't own the DVD, cheers me up. I love that movie!

It's definitely a good one to watch when you're feeling down. If, "Anybody wanna penut?" doesn't cheer you up, then I don't know what will. ![]() Disney movies are also great for when you're feeling a little blue. ![]()

People keep mentioning Princess Bride! I wholeheartedly agree!! No matter how many times I’ve seen it, I still love it =) Never fails to make me laugh

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down
Usually fluffy types of films, Bridget Jones, The Holiday, films like that. I have a limit though, I find The Notebook a little bit too sweet. Oh and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of my favorite movies.

Re: Movies for when you're a bit down
Hmm, a number of comedies should do the trick but here are 50 movies that come to mind, a few of which have been glaring omissions
![]() Dirty Dancing (with a female majority on this forum I was shocked to discover this hadn't been mentioned yet! )Some Like It Hot Ferris' Bueller's Day Off Field of Dreams Forrest Gump Good Will Hunting Groundhog Day Classic Sandler (Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, etc) Love Actually Meet the Parents Mrs. Doubtfire The Princess Bride School of Rock Sleepless in Seattle The Shawshank Redemption Amelie Top Gun (except the part where Goose dies )Raiders of the Lost Ark American Pie Wedding Crashers Secondhand Lions My Cousin Vinny It's a Wonderful Life National Lampoon's Animal House Roadtrip The Philadelphia Story American Pie 2 Airplane! It Happened One Night Caddyshack Remember the Titans National Lampoon's Van Wilder Bull Durham Radio School of Rock August Rush Click Dumb and Dumber Harvey Dodgeball Jerry McGuire Just Like Heaven Arsenic and Old Lace Bringing Up Baby Anchorman Ocean's 11 Harold and Kumar Go To Whitecastle Superbad Cool Runnings The Blind Side Now there are a few tear inducing scenes in that bunch, but sometimes it's good to let it all out with a good cry...and anyways overall I'd consider those "feel good" movies that are one or more of the following- full of laughs, contain happy endings, inspirational messages, etc However, for a number of those I've found they can occasionally have an adverse effect...for instance if you're single and you're feeling lonely, well watching romantic movies by yourself can make you want someone even more. I'm often guilty of torturing myself like this ![]()
