Re: U.S. 2008 Elections: McCain vs Obama
Looks like there's a new McSame on the block. Obama wants to extend Bush's faith-based initiative.
"ZANESVILLE, Ohio — With an eye toward courting evangelical voters, Senator Barack Obama arrived here on Tuesday to present a plan to expand on President Bush’s program of investing federal money in religious-based initiatives that are intended to fight poverty and perform community aid work." NYT The left ain't gonna like that. And the FISA blog has gone ballistic. "in the last week, mybarackobama.com has also become an excellent place for supporters to gather and discuss their disappointment with their candidate...“Senator Obama* Please Vote NO on Telecom Immunity –* Get FISA Right” is now the fourth-largest public group at the portal, and it is growing fast." NYT

Re: U.S. 2008 Elections: McCain vs Obama
I'm against FISA Telecom Immunity but not "faith based initiatives".
I believe the community can spend money better than government (!) Also, Obama, as a community organizer, saw the work & power of churches in Chicago, of all denominations. ![]() DAILYKOS is posting the "state of the race" at 7.1.8 This is Obama 317 to McCain 221 It's the states touching Illinois (where Obama has been in office since 1992) AND Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, Colorado & New Mexico. NOT Missouri, or Florida, or Arizona. ![]() The yellow states are where the margin is under 10 points (single digit), so they might be classified as battleground. ![]() Given in the current polling Obama leads in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, ---> does he need Clinton on the ticket? Or, since they are yellow - is it better safe than sorry ? Bizarre year --> the industrial rust belt is not "blue-blue" and the south is not "red red" Do the blue-blue vs red-red areas look urban vs rural to you ? Re: U.S. 2008 Elections: McCain vs Obama
I'm closing this thread for 24 hours.
Too many complaints and to much time is needed by mods to patrol one thread. There is a long road ahead and some people need to get their act together.
