1. This would've gotten my vote for fav if it was siggy picture only, absolutely beautiful for me, but I just don't like the image. I feel like a bit more could've been done to the image, maybe give the star outer glow (if using photoshop). and it just seems a tad too simple for me, but i still love the signature picture. I love the use of lighting in the signature.

2. The banner is wonderful and looks great, but the avatar is too pixely.

3. Probably my second favorite overall (if looking at both avatar and signature)

4. The signature looks really beautiful, but the avatar and signature simply don't go together. The avatar looks pretty good too but the two don't match at all

5. This is my favorite. I love the sharpness of the foreground and blurriness of the back. And the colors and lighting of the ornament and the text.

6. Second least favorite. No real reason, i just don't really like it that much.

My entry is in *is exhausted* This was a hard challenge this week! At least for me :\. Im not use to using textures like these. Looking at the list of those who died in 2008 was eye opening! We've lost some true greats this past year.

What a fantastic table!

1) Love the idea, kind of like a coin or a button. The text around the guy is great but the black script throws me off a little bit.

2) What a loss! *tears up* It's a nice icon. I think Paul looks a little shiny and to rust color however. Kind of blends into the background

3) Beautiful crisp colors and use of a *difficult* texture (I would have never thought to use a texture that busy like that) What's that little red thing on his shoulder though? ETA- I quick googled it and found the original picture. The red thing is part of the photo. I would have erased that. It's part of a womans shirt.

4) No idea who she was. Nice black and white, I would have maybe brought the contrast down just a hair. Im not thrilled about the tiny text. Good otherwise though

5)Loved this guy! Nice contrast and use of texture. I like the text on it.

6) I wanted to do bettie page! but I couldnt find an appropriate picture I liked Nice use of the texture, lovely colors. Good job

Wow, wonderful entries this week!

1 - I love this! Great use of sepia tone (it goes well with the texture) and I love how you incorporated the signature into this. Great icon overall.
2 - Good image to use for an icon but it's a bit blurry. Maybe you should have sharpened it a bit?
3 - You're brave for using such a busy texture like that! I don't know what that orange thing is. It isn't part of the texture, IIRC.
4 - Nice image and contrast. I'm not a big fan of the tiny text though because it goes all the way down the icon. It would have been better to erase the bottom part.
5 - Wonderful job! I love the text, contrast, use of texture. You made this challenge look easy (in a good way, of course).
6 - I wonder where the texture is, but it's probably used in a non-subtle way, which is usually a good thing. I like the text and image placement. Nice job.

The image is a bit blurry, and also, the color of Paul Newman’s skin looks unnaturally red. But I really like the way the text was rotated around him.

I really like the whole composition: the black and white, the tiny text (I have a thing for tiny text )

1. I really like the way you incorporated the image with the texture. I also like the signature thing in the lower right.

3. Nice, vibrant colors. I like the background, but it might have used some text perhaps.

5. Great icon! Nice text placement, and I like the black and white.

6. Another great icon. I really like the way her name is incorporated into the background, and I like the coloring.

Vote: 2 - I think the outline is too sharp, and the colouring of the image is off. It's too dark and too saturated.

Favourite.. difficult. I think 4 is very stylish, and has the best look overall - and although I think that 3 is a bit oversaturated, I love it that you managed to make very good use of the texture which I found the most difficult!

1: this icon is okay, but there doesn't seem to be any special to it. it's nice to look at but a little...blah.
2: i love the whole icon, i just wish his face had the same contrast as the background so it didn't look so out of place, or maybe less red?
3: i don't know what to say about this icon, there's nothing wrong with it but it definitely doesn't catch my eye for some reason...
4: i love the overall icon, but i wish there was a little more contrast in the photo, and the blue seems out of place.
5: i love this. i have no idea who the guy is (well his name does sort of ring a bell) but everything fits. the contrast is great and it doesn't look like you combined anything! great job!!!
6: this icon is nice, but if i didn't know her name was Betty i would have had no idea what that icon said, he head sort of covers the name a bit.

I was asked to vote, and I'm beginning to try to get into graphics as I got a new computer and Photoshop Elements 7/Premiere Elements 7 for Christmas. I'm going to have to start looking at these things for ideas.

1. I liked this one. All parts seemed to flow well together. Old-fashioned man with an old-fashioned theme. My favorite.
2. Poor Paul looks like he was boiled. A bit too red for my liking. If the color were calmed down a bit, I think this one would be much better.
3. The lighting is too strong on his face, here.
4. I liked this except for the purple spot on her back. Looks to me like a B/W photo that's been damaged.
5. Not a big George Carlin fan, but this is a good icon. Lighting is good; background looks like a nightclub to me.
6. Good job except that she's covering up most of her name.

I'd say #2 should go.
