Non-HP LIMS: FINAL WEEK!

Well, I am one of the survivors, and I have a major problem at my hands now. As far as I am aware, one can't use the pass when there are only four left - at least that's the rules in the other LIMS, IIRC.
I sent an owl to Kim about this yesterday, but it seems it has gone amiss, at least I haven't had an answer.


Anyway - I have to go abroad to a conference tomorrow, and I won't be back before Tuesday 20th January.
There is no way that I can make an icon by then (It's almost 10om now, and I am flying in a few hours' time and the conference paper isn't quite finished).


Anyway - could we postpone the deadline to Saturday 23rd (a week later)? Id' really love to stay in the contest and participate in the next round.



If not, well, I'll congratulate the three survivors and see who made the final when I come back next week.
I am sorry to cause such trouble, but obviously, this isn't something I can change.

I might be able to call in from abroad sometime - but I can't say for certain. Next certain login time is 20th January, so I might not know for a while.

As long as the remaining candidates ok it, I have no problem with it. The problem is that other folks have been disqualified for missing a deadline, and I can't be unfair to them. If the remaining three people all agree to postpone it for another week, I'll accept that, but otherwise, I'm planning on closing submissions on Saturday.

Thanks for your reply, Kim. I understand your stance, obviously.
I only asked because a round was postponed for such a reason sometime in the other LIMS.... but obviously, as you say, people have droped out for such reasons, so... it's only fair.

I dont have a problem with it. I think that at this point in the competition and extra week would be ok especially since Kilo seems to know in advanced and she should have the opportunity to sit down and do her best work.

Hope you're having fun! And no problem. I'm glad, actually, that the challenge was postponed because I just had finals last week and that was stressful.

Could people please vote in LIMS? It's the final challenge and only three people have voted.

001: I love the font of the date. However the icon seems too brown and the towers seem like burning cigarettes.

002: I love pretty much the whole thing. The vintage art was a perfect choice. I might have cropped it a bit more off center.

003: Great choice of artwork, not a fan of the font.

001: Too brown that the entire image seems sort of unclear, but I love the font used for the date..very effective!

002: It's very good. I like the colours, except the 1776 part isn't too visible.

003: I really love this! Amazing art, but the black and yellow colour usage seemed a bit out-of place. The pic however, is very effective

some thoughts:
1. great image. the cropping favours the text which is bold and clear. i would suggest to tone down the brown and go for a more desaturated look.
2. the cropping is a bit odd. i keep trying to see the top of the flag. it's nice that you used the colors in the text, but that doesn't make it very clear in that background. a little bit of light glow would help.
3. good choice of image. did you color it yourself? it's great. i think you could use another kind of font here. the handwritten font makes it look a bit childish and it doesn't fit the subject, imo.

my vote is for #2. sorry.
