Well, I have to say I love the comments, and I find they are very instructive, so I tend to read most, if not all of them if I have the time. I read all comments on my icon first, then write my own comments, vote, and then read what everyone thought. I love doing that! So kala, you have at least one avid reader. ![]() I still don't understand: did you find the picture like this? To me it still looks like the picture of a leaf with the sun shining through it. Did it come with that background? It's a very unusual image, but very pretty.

Re: NON-HP LIMS: The Maiden Voyage
^^^So this was my icon.
These are the brushes I used. (It took me a while to find them again on DA) There is alot of seasonal vector art on DA. Much brighter and better executed than mine which was a poor immitation. I think my favorite part to my icon which is unique from the ones on DA was the rain and snow falling which just made me smile while I was working on them.Kim as far as the pic codes...It's a good precaution, I think, but because I trust everyone I could care less who looks at my code so what ever you say is fine with me but you don't have to put yourself out on my account. (Yes that was a horrible run on sentence.)Yay! More people for the banner challenge! That table is going to ROCK!

That's my exact voting process! You forgot the step after "read what everyone thought" that is "check table obsessively at least once every hour until voting ends." That step is crucial for me.Klio, if people have part of their name or username in their Photobucket name, it shows up as part of the picture's web-address. If anyone knows my last name (which few do), they would be able to figure which is my icon from my Photobucket username. As far as putting the images in a separate Photobucket account, I assumed you were already doing that so I didn't even bother to look. ![]()

![]() cropped of course, but I didn't touch the background. All I did was sharpen, a slight glow around the edges, a gradient with the swatch colors, a couple of adjustment layers, and the light brush. Well, now I'm gonna be more paranoid about the comments, lol

That's exactly what I do, too. I made the mistake of closing the table every time I was done with it for the first few hours, and then I realized it was such a hassle, so I ended up keeping it open until voting was over. I was constantly checking it.I didn't notice the file names, and it wouldn't have made a difference if I had. I'm sorry that happened, though. ![]()

kala, that picture is a really rare find. And I agree with Rell, that was quite a colouring job there!
Don't be paranoid about the comments. it's always fun to read them all. ![]()

Re: NON-HP LIMS: The Maiden Voyage
Hehe, yeah Klio, I knew that the Draco icon and the Spring one were both yours. Well I didn't know, but I guessed since you mentioned doodling. They're magnificent!
In regards to comments, I usually read the ones concerning mine first, quickly looking to see if those people voted me off, then I post my comments. Then I look at what other people thought of the icons I voted off. I also skim throught their comments for everyone else. Post voting, when people are revealing their icons, I love to look at what they wrote for themselves in their comments! ![]() KIM -- I also assumed that's what you were doing in the first place. I didn't look at anyones URLs this week, but sometimes I do look at the properties -- only to see things like dimensions in case I'm not sure if an Icon is 115x115, or 125x125 or whatever, just because that's how I learn different things. So even if I accidentally would see anyones photobucket ID, I wouldn't change my voting for them. However, I do think what you're doing is the right thing to do. This situation reminds me of why I created a photobucket account just for my LIMS entries so nobody could guess that was my photobucket account. ![]()

It makes me a bit sad that people even need to bother with names and such, but if it makes people more likely to be involved, I am all for it!!

Re: NON-HP LIMS: The Maiden Voyage
Well.... I dunno..... I feel much more confident now, that I actually survived a few rounds of LIMS VIII. But you know, I'd never have dared to submit anything under my name initially, and I think many feel that the anonymous system is nice. Also, the feedback is much easier to give, and much more pleasant to read that way.
I know that everyone is really nice here, but still, you'd quickly get insiders throwing extra luvvy comments at each other, and that would make the whole thing more exclusive and more difficult to break into. I know it's a lot of work for you, but I really think it has benefits, and I am grateful that you are taking on all the hassle of such a competition. Very much appreciated. ![]()

Yeah, because I totally didn't have both LIMS tables open in a separate window the second they went up until the results were posted...

I tend to give lurvy comments as a rule. I think that I much prefer to point out what I think works than what I don't care for, since it's so subjective. Unless someone specifically asks for it, or posts in the concrit thread, I usually don't give super-critical comments. It's partly personality and partly because I don't know until after the voting what people are looking for, and, besides, I don't really know too much that would be helpful to anyone in the first place. ![]() |

Re: NON-HP LIMS: The Maiden Voyage
Can't just expose ourselves all over the place like that. Also don't want people knowing I obsessively chat with every person I speak to (CoS and non) over the weekend about this.
Me neither. Never ever done that.

yes, if anyone ever knew that we've had hour long convos on msn dissecting a LIMS table, they might think that we are crazy.

Unless of course they knew you were crazy already. Then it just you know, business as usual.
