Internet Archive Wayback Machine
The "Wayback Machine" allows you to view archived versions of websites by entering a URL and setting a range of dates. This also includes websites that have been taken down. It isn't perfect, and some old sites have only a few visible pages, but it can still be a useful tool.

Re: Internet Archive Wayback Machine
I use this thing all the time! It's especially interesting to look at news sites on significant dates, such as Sept 11.

Re: Internet Archive Wayback Machine
It will be infinitely more useful if they ever get around to instituting a text-based search engine. Can't Google corporation help them out?

Re: Internet Archive Wayback Machine
The wayback is such an awesome tool. I wouldn't be able to do half of the crazy stuff I do without it.
WilloftheWisp might be interested in this little string for google, too. Code:
site:http://archive.org site:http://www.archive.org 'insert text to search for here' Last edited by emrys; October 9th, 2009 at 7:33 am. Reason: formatting error |

Re: Internet Archive Wayback Machine
It's a pretty useful tool. I used it to get a screencap from a site that I was a member of that got shut down sadly...
