Taking a cue from DML1991's thread for films

The Ghost and Mrs Muir by R. A. Dick (Josephine Leslie)

9/10 = It's a sweet little story. Possibly could have been fleshed out a bit more. Or rather I got to the end but would have perfectly happy if it had been longer.

Neverwhere, Neil Gaiman - 8/10

It could have been about 70 pages shorter, but there were some brilliant ideas. And I will NEVER stand at the edge of the platform on London's tube again ...

Grinding It Out- Ray Kroc. 10/10- I'm not usually a fna of biographies/autobiographies, but this one is amazing. Kroc tells such a detailed history of himelf and the creation of McDonald'sI feel like I'm actually there taking part in it.

I liked the first two books, but I found the second book to be incredibly different than the first. I like the third because it is reminds me of the first book more.

I was thinking of re-reading Jane Eyre after I finished its prequel, Wide Sargasso Sea!

Balzac: Gobseck (part of La Comédie Humaine)

9/10
Pretty good. You won't understand it if you don't know Balzac's characters, though. They return and return, and there are billions of them.
Gobseck is a terrific character. He bears similarities to Shylock, but he's not evil. A strange mix of gentleness and avarice.

I'd give it higher if I could, it's one of my favorites. This is the third time I've read it.

A Short History of Nearly Everything- Bill Bryson.

It had been a while since I last read anything by Bill Bryson- this is definitely one of his best. 9.5/10 (cos I have an old edition and I recently saw a new, updated version with pictures. Gah.)

Blood Brothers-Nora Roberts- 5/10

It started off well, but then, cliche after cliche after cliche. Definitely not my type of book
