The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien - 10/10. My all-time favourite book!

Post Secret by Frank Warren.
This was truly a great idea. I enjoyed reading people's secrets, some were touching, others emotional. I look forward to getting the next one.
10/10

Re: Rate the last book you read

I finished The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde yesterday. I'm a bit unsure about what to rate it, because I really thought it was a great book, with original ideas (quite a few unoriginal ideas too, but the whole book is written in such a way you don't really notice), and references to both real life and fictitious incidents and persons, but I also noticed a few things that weren't as good. Sometimes the book moved really slowly, and was a bit boring to read - not necessarily because there wasn't anything interesting happening. Overall I enjoyed it a lot, and I look forward to start reading the sequel when I get home tomorrow. 8, or perhaps 8.5, out of ten.

^ I loved The Eyre Affair. Glad you liked it! Yes, it takes some time to get used to, but is a rewarding read. The rest of the series only gets even better!

This Time of Morning - Nayantara Sahgal - 8/10

Sahgal is one of those authors who cannot write badly, even if she tried. This book is a wonderful throwback to the politics and life of Delhi, post independence, trying to come to terms with it's 'tryst with destiny'

Gomorra, by Roberto Saviano: 7/10

I think this is one of the most terrifying books I've ever read. It is a denunciation of the power of the 'camorra' in the South of Italy and its ramifications in other countries. Not at all a pleasant book: the story is harsh and the style is as stark as the story requires. It is frightening, but I can't but take my hat off to the author's courage.

The Last Apprentice: Night of the Soul Stealer by Joseph Delaney

7/10 - I was quite disappointed in the 3rd installment of this series :/ Hopefully the fourth book makes up for this one

These books are great! Some of the reason I didn't give The Eyre Affair more was because of the way it was written, but Fforde has improved that in Lost in a Good Book, which I finished yesterday. I'll give it 9.5/10, so the next books can have something to be better than.

10/10 A Lifetime of Secrets by Frank Warren.
Just as good as the first.

The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni - 5/10

Too simplistic and definitely overrated.

Re: Rate the last book you read

i just went on vacation so i read a few books while i was gone:

The Charlemagne Pursuit by Steve Berry: 5/10. not as well put together as his other books...it took me like a week to finish this one, which is a bad sign because i'm usually a pretty fast reader. it was also confusing and tried too hard to make this big scientific and historical mystery and it just ended up being a mess.

Fight Club Chuck Palahniuk: 8/10. i definitely enjoyed it, it was incredibly well written and a quick read.

(Near done with it, anyway) Spoilers Ahead

The Hunger Games--One of those books that I see staring at me when I go to bookstores, decided to buy it.

Very awesome, for a first person perspective. I was disappointing to see that life in District 12 seemed tougher than the actual game, and how there was so much pseudo-romance (knowing it was fake helped me through it), but overall still excellent. 9/10

The Well of Lost Plots - 10/10. Well. What can I say? I felt sorry for everyone else who was waiting in the same room as me, they had to endure my laughing. The book was over before I knew it, hospitals are perfectly suited for reading in.

Pride & PRejudice & Zombies, 2/10

Honestly, I thought the author would do something better than copy Jane Austen's work and introduce here and there references to zombies or martial arts. It takes too much of the original to work as an independent work and is far too clumsy to work as a parody.

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown - 5/10

Typical Dan Brown. Which is tedious since he follows the same template for each book. Also, a bit too long to be a good thriller.

I finally finished PoA. It took me forever I think because I'm still waiting for GoF to come in the mail. 10/10 as usual for a Potter book.

Re: Rate the last book you read

I had a long, boring day at school today, so I finished Farmer Giles of Ham. Really nice story about farmer Ægidius, or Giles in the vulgar (sorry, I couldn't resist using it!), is an interesting character, I think. I really enjoyed the book, it will be reread several times. 9/10

Since my school day was so long and boring, and I only had twelve pages left of FGoH, I read Leaf by Niggle too. Really sweet, though I didn't quite understand where Niggle went. This one will also suffer a lot of rereads. 9/10

Both books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Sword of the Lady by S.M. Stirling. 8/10.

Fantastic read and really moved the story of "The Change" on. I read the last half of the book in a marathon read. Finished it about 03:30AM in the morning. Needless to say, I was exhausted, mentally, the next day.
