Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I am a largely competitive person, as such stirring, inspiring nature motivates me and sparks enthusiasm. I love it.

And Quidditch seems like the most thrilling sport... though I'm sure I'd forget how high up it was when concentrating on winning the game. I'd probably be the most nerve-wracked when training and thinking of performing and competing in front of people, but, like I said, one tends to forget about it in the state of rivalry. I admire people like skaters, contortionists, divers, gymnasts(I'm one myself), and athletes in general(particularly those in x-games) who put themselves in a fair amount of danger, even if it's just of pain, an inevitable part of our lives. Accepting fear's intents is to avoid improvement. I also like the idea of a severely tough and demanding training schedule, as I know what it's like to a certain extent. The grueling yet rewarding nature of working strenuously and arduously to achieve a high level of skill in anything is such a fascinating phenomenon to me, quite noble in the world of skill and achievement. I admire those athletes, those people, who not only put themselves in danger but are enduring and likable and respectable. I also love days where I sense a particularly fierce passion for rhythmic gymnastics. Quidditch would be a huge part of my life if I got the chance to compete in it. Now I'm going to shut up and stop all this fiery talk.

I imagine there'd be cramps when you're on your broomstick, which has been addressed, but that just makes it better. You can't expect to be playing seriously without some level of drawback or discomfort.

So anyway, any position sounds awesome. Being a beater or seeker looks good to me when I'm not in the mood to be the center of all eyes during the game.

I read Quidditch Through the Ages and found it absolutely fascinating, especially the parts about the sport's history.

Yes! It looks like such an amazing sport. If I did play, I would be a Seeker. Even though it is a challenging position, I would like to test my abilities and give it a go. It seems like an interesting thing to try!

Yes. I'd like to feel that thrill. Even though I'm terribly afraid of falling down...
Any position would be alright... except Keeper, probably.

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I'd play for sure. It seems like fun. I love reading Quidditch Through The Ages too. It actually made me so much more interested in the sport, the first time I read it. Being a Chaser would be fun, and I think I'd be pretty good at it. I used to play basketball so the teamwork involved wouldn't bother me. Besides, I think I's feel too much pressure if I were to be Keeper or Seeker. So really Chaser is the only one left anyway.
That being said, I'm not such a fan of 'Muggle Quidditch.' But I'm sure one day we'll develop the technology for flying brooms and then I'd be all over it.

Yes, I would love to be a Quidditch player, a keeper preferably. They don't have to move as much, and I'm a pretty good goalkeeper

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

Some people mentioned it already: quidditch is real... well, muggle quidditch is.
And it's awesome! Check out the International Quidditch Association home page and learn how to play it!
Most people who play it weren't very sporty before (like me). I tried it once with some friends and their kids. It was so much fun! Of course we're not flying around, but as a game, it's very enternaining!

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I would try to play. I don't think I'd be very good... But I'd try. I'd probably be a seeker just because I'd mess up everyone else if I needed to catch the quaffle or stop it. I'd love to be able to fly!

Possibly intramural Quidditch - but the real thing seems so terrifying! Perhaps it's the heights...

Omg, I hope that would happen soon! That would be so cool to have flying brooms. Oh, and flying balls that would automatically attack you. I wouldn't even care about my safety... it would sound so fun.

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I can't imagine playing any sport that involved sitting on a broomstick. I mean how difficult would that be? I'd need a saddle and handlebars and a safety belt!

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

No, but then I'm not very competitive and I'm a bit of a coward. The idea of being hit by a bludger or Fred Weasley is not very appetizing.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the flying balls. I hope it happens soon too. That would be totally awesome. Well, one day...

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

Yes. Definitely. I think I would be best as a seeker because I am not that good in teamwork situations. The seeker position seems very solo. Also I have great running speed in real life. I know you can't literally translate that into flying skills but you get the point.

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I would have to overcome my fear of heights, but i think that would motivate me to play; an opportunity to overcome a fear. It, though dangerous, looks thrilling and fun I also LOVE the atmosphere at sporting events and the excitement of game time. Quidditch seems to have a HUGE following so the atmosphere would be very exciting!

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I've always been a swimmer, but I quit about 2 years ago after swimming for around 8 years(ofcourse I still swim highschool and summer team, but i don't swim year around anymore) And I not very good at "land" sports: tennis, soccer, field hockey, etc. Soooo why not try a sport in the air, who know's... I may be a pretty good quidditch player.

plus, I need a sport now that I don't swim.

I don't think I would, but I nominate my cat as a seeker....any cat that grab kitty treats out of the air between his paws & throw them into his mouth can definitely catch a snitch

Re: Quidditch - would you really play?

I'd love to play Quidditch if it really existed. I'd probably never make any team as I'd probably be really bad at it, but if I did, I'd want to be Beater, or Seeker :P
