Nick Cave & co
Haven't found a thread dedicated to Mr Nicholas E. Cave, but I find it hard to believe that none of the 83,280 current members enjoys his musical achievements.
![]() So... Nick Cave, anyone?

Re: Nick Cave & co
Yes.
![]() Love him. His duet with Kylie Minogue is incredibly creepy, I adore it. Where The Wild Roses Grow, it's called. I bet you already know that. I was hoping to get to see Cave and the Bad Seeds this Summer, but my opportunity might be gone now. Still, we can all hope! ![]() |

Re: Nick Cave & co
Err... Yeah. I'm, like, 31 year old. That's almost "The Birthday Party" days...
![]() I saw him last summer in Belgrade and a couple of years back in London. Both times I was just... Hope to go to a couple of more, though it does feel a bit awkward to be a decade older than most of the attendees... ![]() "Cassiel's song" is my all-time favorite; my-life-in-a-nutshell sort of thing... ![]()

Re: Nick Cave & co
I love that song!!! ^^ Really awesome!
I hoped I would get to see him this year, but I won't now. Regardless, I hope to get there eventually. He's on my list of "to see" artists. I love him. He's way up there with Tom Waits in terms of originality. Everything is just so brilliant and new and quirky and so seemlessly put together that even when I don't like it, it still feels effortless. Incidentally, have you read his book, And the *** Saw the Angel? I've been trying to get a copy for ages.. ETA: I knew the autocensor would do that ^. Regardless, you know what I'm talking about. It was 1989 after all. You were alive and I wasn't. ![]() |

Yeah. Read it a couple of years later, though. And used the style (though not the subject matter) on school papers that got me an A+ and invitation to participate in yearly writing contest (which I had to tun down because it clashed with the 'Use of English' one... sad). ![]() Man, those were good times... Now I must go and look for the piece. Another favorite of mine: I actually saw him in Belgrade 5 days after that clip was captured. ![]()

Re: Nick Cave & co
I really want to see him. He's definitely coming to Ireland this year, so maybe along the way I might see him doing smaller shows or something like that. I'm just not sure I can pay for a festival ticket to see him specifically.

Well, he does have this habit of doing small solo gigs every now and then...
I'll keep my eyes open. ![]()

Re: Nick Cave & co
He's amazing. I fell asleep once with my earphones on - while listening to Henry's Dream - and boy were my dreams creepy. brother, my cup is empty and I haven't got a penny, but if I buy no more whiskey, I have to go home.
uhhh. I didn't like his book, though. The dull landscape killed me ![]() I wish I could dance like him.

Err... yeah. His dancing is quite... unusual.
![]() I quite liked the book, though I did find certain parts hard to read through. The landscape is just... evil. ![]()

Re: Nick Cave & co
His song O Children (from Deathly Hallows Part 1) is really amazing. I had never heard any of his songs before, and this one just tugged at my heartstrings.

Re: Nick Cave & co
Yes! Going into Deathly Hallows I had no idea that O Children would be in the movie, so I was really pleasantly surprised to hear it during the dancing scene. It really makes the scene that much better and is now probably my favourite part of the movie.
I've been a fan for a few years now, ever since watching The Assassination of Jesse James and hearing his score for that movie. |

Actually, I've heard of Nick Cave a long time ago since his song "Red Right Hand" was featured in an early X-Files episode, so I'm a bit familiar with his music But 'O Children' is definitely amazing. I love being introduced to new artists since in all honesty, I can't stand the mainstream music today.

Re: Nick Cave & co
I'm glad Nick Cave is getting more exposure thanks to DH. He's a marvelously talented musician and I've been enjoying his music for many years. I remember discussing Australian music on this site about a year ago and mentioned Nick Cave, a user commented on how they'd never listen to something so 'gloomy and depressing' but now seems to like O Children
Cave's duet with Kylie Minogue still sends shivers down my spine.

Re: Nick Cave & co
Man, Nick Cave has the kind of voice that makes me want to sit down and think about life, if that makes any sense. It's just so....moving. Love him.

Yes, his duet with Kylie Minogue, although beautiful, it's also very creepy.

Re: Nick Cave & co
This man is an actual hero. I almost died when O Children was included in Deathly Hallows. Where the wild roses grow is such a classic, him and Kylie are SO different yet fit so beautifully for that record.

Re: Nick Cave & co
I absolutely love Nick Cave. What an amazing lyricist. He just has that ability to make you feel a million different emotions with each song, if not with each line. I love how he can write really deep, powerful songs like "O Children" and "Sadly By Her Side" and also songs with really (and I mean REALLY) black homour which, if you like dark humour, you will find hilarious, like "O'malley's Bar" and "The Curse Of Millhaven".
My favourite songs of his have got to be: - The Wild Rose: So creepy, beautiful and haunting. - O Children: There's just something really dark and miserable about this song, though I can't put my finger on what it exactly is... - The Curse Of Millhaven: This one kills me! Hilarious (though some may think that me finding this song hilarious is shocking, lol) - O'Malley's Bar: Also a hilarious song with black, black humour. (Extremely LONG, though) - Song Of Joy: Don't let the title decieve you: there's nothing joyful about this song. Try listening to this one late at night, with your lights off. You will be scared out of your wits. The way he sings it, the lyrics, and the deadly rythm creeps me out more than any horror film. - Sadly By Her Side: Probably my favourite, actually. AMAZING lyrics. Very philosophical song. Sends shivers down my spine whenever I listen to it. - Oh My Lord: Also amazingly powerful lyrics with a very powerful meaning. - Sweetheart Come: It's such a sweet song. The seconds chorus is just pure perfection. - Papa Won't Leave You Henry: This song is the best song to listen to in the car Really catchy, and as always, with great lyrics. - People Ain't No Good: This one actually made me cry, it's so moving. Incredibly depressing though. You have been warned ![]() - The Kindness Of Strangers: Also made me cry. Really really sad song with a hint of irony towards the end. - Etc, etc, etc. There's just so many...

Re: Nick Cave & co
Ooh yes I love Nick Cave. I had the pleasure of seeing him with The Bad Seeds a few years ago, and saw him with Grinderman in February. Both outstanding bands.
