Last Icon Maker Standing XII - Week two

Welcome to the Twelth Edition of LIMS!

You will find a list of participants below. The icon makers will remain annnymous unless they choose to reveal themselves.

RULES 1) Anyone with a graphics program may join. You don’t not have to be a regular participant in the Graphics Contest thread to participate in this one. 2) Each contestant will have a "free pass" which they'll be able to use any time during the competition, except when we're down to the last four contestants. To use this pass, all you have to do is owl Vita before voting starts, telling her so. 3) Once you enter you must commit fully to the competition. If you fail to submit your graphic for the week, and you don't make use of your pass, or you have already used it on a different week but you fail to submit an entry, you are automatically “voted off the island”. 4) During the competition we will have two special challenges, in which those voted off will have the opportunity to win a place back in. 5) Please, do not enter if you are easily offended or if you cannot take constructive criticism. Just remember eventually everyone but one contestant is going to have to 'leave the island'. 6) Please submit only your original work. Make new graphics each week as well and do not post them anywhere on COS until after the weeks round is over. If you use fanart for one of your graphics, be sure to ask for permission first, and send a link to the artist on your owl. 7) Each week the maintainers of the LIMS thread will come up with a topic. It is then your job to submit you entry to Vita by owl. Please in your subject line put the week of the contest we are on. Do not post your entries in the thread or they will be disqualified. 8) Your graphics along with the other contestant’s will posted anonymously on a table to assure that people are voting for the graphic rather then the person. You will then vote for the one you like the least or would “vote off the island”. You must state why you chose this one and offer some constructive criticism. I wish to make this competition a learning experience as well. Votes without a reason will not be counted. 9) Anyone may vote at any time even if you were voted out of the competition, except when we're down to the final three contestants.

SCHEDULE Submissions start at Sunday, 18 GMT, and go until Saturday 18 GMT. This is a full six days to submit entries to Vita via owl. Each submission period is one week. A notice will be posted in this thread when submissions open or close. • From Saturday to Sunday, we will be voting. This gives us a full 24 hours each week to vote. All the entries will be displayed in a single post. Voting starts when the tables are posted and will run for the next 24 hours after that.

SIZE GUIDELINES Avatars Avatars may be any shape provided they are within these size guidelines. Width: from 75 to 125 pixels Height: from 75 to 125 pixels Signatures Signatures may be any shape provided they are within these size guidelines. Width: from 200 to 300 pixels Height: from 200 to 300 pixels Banners Banners are images that are wider than they are tall. Width: from 200 to 300 pixels Height: from 100 to 150 pixels Hangings Hangings are images which are taller than they are wide, like a banner that has been turned on its side. Topic: House graphics!
Restrictions: You much create a banner that represents the house you've been sorted into. If you have not been sorted I invite you to check it out here. However if you do not feel incline to, make an educated guess on what house you would fit in. You much represent it by using an animal that is not it's mascot. That means NO LIONS, SNAKES, BADGERS, OR RAVENS or similar animals. Ravenclaws, don't be tricky and try using a crow or blackbird Any text, animation, textures and images are allowed.

ZOMG! SOOO EXCITED! AND I LOVELOVELOVE THE FIRST CHALLENGE! Even though the animal thing is slightly evil - and by the way, the mascot of Ravenclaw is an eagle, not a raven (go figure).

So this has to have an animal, just one unrelated to any of the houses? Or if you are a Gryffindor can you use any animal that is not a lion (like a Snake)?

Yes, if you are a Gryffindor you can use any animal as long as it is not their mascot the lion. (you could use a snake if you wanted)

Really, my evil meter must be broke because I thought this was the easiest challenge I have on my list for this round :\ Be happy I decided against the house color banning. Imagine a 'Puff sig with no yellow or black OR a badger

No it's not that hard, I'm just not a big 'house' person so it's way out of my realm of what I'd usually make. So basically, I'm just being a whiny little so and so

One thing I wondder about is whether it'll be a lot easier to guess who made which one if we have to pick our own houses. Couldn't we do any house, as long as the rules are fulfilled?

Well, I did this as the first challenge so there would be many more entries (hopefully) and trusting people would judge in an unbias matter. It's ok to guess internally, we all do, it but really when it comes to judging the point is to be honest and not worry about saving friends.

Hm...what do you mean by unrelated animal? Say I was in Slytherin, could I not do a lizard because that is related to a snake?

I made a banner for Hufflepuff but I might be put in Gryffindor. I have an idea for Gryffindor, though, but I'm in love with this Hufflepuff banner now.
