LEGO Harry Potter Video Games

I'm hopefully getting the game Wednesday!
I didn't get it when it came out because I thought I was too old for Lego games now.
But because it's Harry Potter and it got really good reviews, I need to try it out!

Theres so many characters to play as its unreal. Quite a few of them are very useful in Free Play! Lucius Malfoy, Hagrid and Krum, Griphook, etc.

Whew - me and my brother, being stuck inside due to weather, just got 100%. It was no mean feat either - took forever to get all the characters, gold/red bricks, crest pieces, students in peril, etc. Definitely could replay the game again for fun We have nearly 40 hours logged on my save.

Now, I'm trying to get the platinum trophy for the PS3, and the only trophy I have left is the one where I have to defeat the mountain troll as Quirrel, which shouldn't be hard to do.

Had a lot of fun with this game - and even though I've played it for hours, I'm still finding new stuff. I only just discovered Knockturn Alley in Diagon Alley - something I've missed although I've been up and down Diagon Alley many times.

And although I can see the problem with Lego not being able to create a sequel for movies 5-7 (because of dark subject matter), I really hope they do.

EDIT: I just got platinum for this. And although I've gotten 100% and platinum for the entire game, I'm sure that I can replay it and still find it fun now that I got a whole slew of characters to play from

Nah! I'm 32 and absolutely love the LEGO games. Especially the Harry Potter one. I think I play it more than my kids do

I just bought this from Amazon yesterday, and I can't wait until it arrives. I have LEGO Star Wars, and I adore it. They're also coming out with LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean in May.

I wonder when Harry Potter 5-7 are coming out...

It hasn't even been announced yet

I expect next year or 2013 Travellers Tales is currently busy with PotC so I can't see it coming out until at least next year.

That is, if they come out with it at all. I'm hopeful, but would understand their difficulty in making it kid-friendly. There are a lot of things in those books that aren't very good for small children to see.

So I guess that a LEGO version of the Saw series is out of the question.

Actually I haven't seen Deathly Hallows yet, or even read the book for that matter, so I don't know how violent it is. However, Revenge of the Sith had some dark and somewhat disturbing moments but it was LEGO-ized pretty well.

That's a good point - I hadn't considered that. However, we never see too many gruesome things. I'm thinking Nagini coming out of Bathilda's body, Inferi, things like that. But they could Lego-ize everything, I suppose...

I wouldn't say it's overly violent, but overall, has some dark subject matter.

Im sure they can. Star Wars was pretty dark in places and they managed. Same with Indy. Im sure they can make it hilarious instead. (See Cedric's "death" in year four. Come on, that was funny!) Or they can just omit some of the nastier aspects. After all, we did see a visual representation of Peter Pettigrew blowing up muggles in year three. Since violence in the Lego games can be just a bunch of legos getting blown up, i think it can happen. I MEAN COME ON! Lucius and other Dark Wizards you unlock have an Avada Kedavra spell that you can use on various NPCS without penalty AND the NPCs DONT RESPAWN! O_O

This annoyed me so much! My brother played the game with me, and after he got a dark wizard, he killed every single student in Hogwarts! And they didn't respawn at all

So when I was working on getting the platinum trophy for the PS3 (achievements on the 360, I think?), it required doing certain spells on students. But of course my brother killed all the students in Hogwarts... So it was a pain trying to find the few students roaming around in Hogsmeade/Diagon Alley that he didn't kill so I could get the trophies

And as for doing a game for books/movies 5-7, I think it's possible for reasons everyone else has stated (they Lego-ized Star Wars and Indy just fine). I think they can do it for the rest of the series too. I thought they handled Cedric's death just fine (with humor).

I have it for the wii and I've seen no trophies or achievements....nor the AK spell with a dark wizard are these just PS3/360 features?

I have the Wii version. It doesnt have the trophies (shame too. Some of them looked like a lot of fun to try to get. Solid Snape. lolz) but it sure does have the AK spell on Dark Wizards. (Its the green one on the 1 oclock position of the spell wheel with the a lego skeleton on it.) Only Lucius, Tom Riddle, Peter Pettigrew, Death Eater, QuirrelVoldy, and Macnair have it i believe, along with the Crucio (which is the evil version of Windgardium Leviosa) spell. That one is needed to unlock a lot of stuff.

My fiance and I just played Lego HP Years 1-4 the other day and I wish I could say we enjoyed it. It looked fun but it didn't sit all that well with us. Guess we're in the minority!

Now, the old PC (not Lego) games are a different story! I used to love those!
