Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

One word: Pincers.
Best scene in the whole movie; although it went against canon.
Actually it ties with the scene of Hermione being upset about Won/Lav.

I agree. Some of my favorite scenes were those not in the books, particulary when Harry was on the Felix Felicis and Slughorn told that story about Lily Perhaps my favorite scene in any Potter movie to date.

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

Harry on Felix Felicis practically made my life. I couldn't stop laughing. The moment he took the potion and perkily said, "HI!" to the other students, I knew it was gonna be good.
Too many things in that scene to quote and to remember. AH. Daniel Radcliffe has made me proud.

Also, I thought the comedy quidditch was fantastic. And any scene with Tom Felton had be captivated. I love him.
I really think that Rupert Grint and Tom Felton were the stars of the movie.

But the whole thing that really surprised me was the little bit they added about Slughorn telling Harry about a flower in his bowl that turned into a fish... but when Lily died, the fish was gone.

Honestly that was bloody brilliant.

yes i agree. it was a nice touch though sad. i LOVED the harry-takes-felix scene!!!! it was hilarious..with the whole "harry!!!" "SIR!!!" "by all means, come along then!" haha then the pincers.
i think it's always ron being the funny one but in this scene dan was great!

yes i also love the bird scene with hermoine and harry though i wish the birds had attacked ron more - he got away unscathed!

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

i liked the quidditch scenes and the way ron was blocking the hoops, really funny! (the 'roaring' :P....)
i was watching PoA recently and there was this scene whr they were in their dorms and they ate sweets that made them act like animals, and ron was like a LION!

and tom felton's acting was really good.
"I have to kill you...or he'll kill me..."
his expression was really pitiable

also the wandlit vigil was really touching. when the screen faded out, and show the destroyed great hall, the entire audience was silent ( for all 3 screenings i attended). amazing!!

Weasley's Wizard Wheezes and Felix Felicis, i had read both chapters while waiting in line for 10 hours for the midnight show, and it made me smile to recognize lines from the book that i had just read

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

Felix all the way!!! I loved that part! I also really liked the part with Malfoy on the train, and how for once the movies include an adequate explanation for how something happened where Rowling didn't (having Luna see his Wrackspurts vs. Tonks just happening to find him)! I also liked the Quidditch afterparty, with Won-won and Lav-lav and Hermione, even though "Oppugno!" was weak. (they should have pecked him instead of exploding imho.) But I thought one of the best lines was "It feels like this". The hospital scene was hilarious, especially because of the look on Snape's face the entire time!! And I liked the cave part, even though some people think the rocks weren't real enough, I thought it was just strange and beautiful enough to be the secret location of a horcrux.

Agreed. That was portrayed perfectly IMO.
Seeing her body being tossed around like that was pretty scary.

Katie's attack, scare as all hell.
Felix Felicis
Ron's hospital stay
Quidditch
The Joke shop
And my favorite...non canon, Slughorn's story about the fish.

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

I think I liked Luna finding Harry on the train better than Tonks finding him.
I also loved the scene in the library where Harry and Hermione discuss who Harry will take to Slughorn's party.

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

For me there were two scenes that stood out as the best adapted.

The first one is when Harry drinks the Felix Felicis and with Aragog's burial

The Second and more predominant one is the cave scene. Everything was exactly like I imagined it whilst reading the books.

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

It looks I'm the only one who hated Daniel under felix, oh well.
I think the best adapted scene in the whole movie was the necklace examination.
McGonagall and Snape together worked very well on the screen, and the sound of the scared animals as the necklace was suspended in mid-air was pretty creepy, as though they could sense evil.
The look of Snape when he realizes that the necklace is Draco's is top-notch.
I loved the (one and only) angry talk between Snape and Harry, overall the best (and one and only) adapted scene in the whole movie.

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

Even though it was not part of the canon, I loved Slughorns story about Lily. It felt so meaningful, and fitted the scene perfectly!

Re: HBP: Best Adapted Scenes

I think most of it was well adapted, I love how the romance in general was adapted to fit the screen....The cave was probably the best done though, it was creepy!

You just about made my life for posting that scene. Thank you for showing that!
That was probably my favorite part of the movie. I seriously like DanRad 100 times better than I used to do just for his take on Felix Felicis.

And I thought Katie Bell's possession was brilliant. It was even creepier and scarier seeing it on screen than reading it in the book and imagining it in my head.

I loved the whole scene Harry was 'high' on Felix
