Violas

I don't know how many of you are out there who proudly (or not so proudly?) play the viola, but I'm one of 'em! Any other C-stringers out there? Pure-blooded violists or half-blooded violinists, violas UNITE! (I'm a half-blood myself )

Hey!!! I've only met a couple of violists on the internet... none of which made a thread of viola-ing...
I'm basically a pure-blood violist... I only played violin for a half of a year in kindergarten... Yeah viola!

Another violist here! Chose the viola in 4th grade, and have been proudly playing since.

YAY! Violists! I play viola in a symphony. I used to play violin but had to switch when my daughter swiped my fiddle. I also taught my grandson to play viola. He is in tenth grade now and goes to our music magnet high school.

I love the viola. Recently I repositioned my bridge which was leaning and now my instrument is much brighter sounding. A couple of weeks ago I played a memorial concert in Ogden Hall at Hampton University in honor of a friend who died last year. We did this to raise money for a cello scholarship to the school in his name.

Playing in a symphony orchestra is so much fun but for the terrible sense of humor of the principal cellist and the conductor who love to rib me with viola jokes. Unfortunately for them I know them all and so I jump in with the punch line every time.

Viola jokes were popular among musicians in the early 1990's and to listen to them you would think we were all a bunch of morons. One of them was:
