Birthday (no oven) recipes!

My brother (who is 14) is trying to cook up something rather simple for our mother's birthday. He is not a fan of ovens so would rather make something that doesn't require one. He has been bugging me for days to find him a decent recipe and I said I would try.

Well, Google's not being much of a friend. Can anyone think of something? Post here!

Oh and links to the actual recipes would be good.

P.S: It does not need to be a cake.

Re: Birthday (no oven) recipes!

My favorite salad is:
Fresh Green Beans
Avocado
Tomato
Spring onions or red onions
a little salt and pepper

Cook the Green beans lightly just drop them down in boiling water for 3-4 min. Pour out the boiling water and cool down with cold water for 20 seconds, then pour out the cold water and let the green beans dry.
Cut the Tomato and Avocado into pieces. Slice the spring onions finely.
Mix it all up and serve.

If you want a whole meal you can fry a bit of fish with it. Samon would fit best.

Fried sammon.
Samon pieces
Salt and pepper
lemon pieces

Spice the sammon with salt and pepper. Turn on the stove on middle heat. Put oil or butter on the frying pan. When the oil is hot or the butter melted put the samon on the frying pan. It needs about 5-10 min on each side, depending on thickness. Make sure it is fried completely through before serving it, it should be pinkish white all way through.
Serve with lemon pieces.

You could also serve a good beef to the salad instead. If it is for dinner serve boiled potatoes or good bread with it.

A salad might not sound so good in the ears of a 14 year old boy but this is womens food.

Generaly on cooking is the importence of good ingredience. Do not buy discount unless you know it is better than the exspensive stuff. The second importence is delicately cooking. Do not overcook or undercook something.

I know it says it doesn't have to be cake, but come on! Everyone loves cake.

Re: Birthday (no oven) recipes!

He decided to go for the salad with a bit of salmon. Thanks guys for helping out! By the way, it went rather smoothly and was a success (well, as much of a success he could have anyway)
