Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

I liked three scenes the best- the McGonagall's "He looks far too happy up there" cracked me up as it's exactly what some of my old grammar school professors (and classmates ) were like, then there's the thrilling-chilling Astronomy Tower conversation between Draco and AD, and thirdly, the conversation concerning the cursed necklace, especially Snape's input. For some reason, it seemed to me the most in-character scene for him in the movie.

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

SS-------when Snape enters the Potions classroom & the Great Hall scene where Quirrell bursts in and announces "TROLL IN THE DUNGEON! TROLL IN THE DUNGEON! Just thought you oughta know!" When that lightning flashes/thunder cracks and Ron screams!

Cos------the scene in Flourish & Blotts with Lucius Malfoy! Next to Alan Rickman, this man is AWESOME! And of course, my absolute fave scenes in Cos: WHEN RON GETS THAT HOWLER!

AND......."Let me introduce you to your new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Me, Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force League, and five time winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award. But I don't talk about that. I didn't get of the Bandon (sp) Banshee by smiling at her" CLASSIC!

PoA------I love the Hogwarts choir song "Double, double, toil & trouble, fire burn & cauldron bubble. Double, double, toil & trouble, fire burn & cauldron bubble. Something wicked this way comes!" (Macbeth is my favorite Shakespeare work)! That was BRILLIANT putting that in the movie!

And of course: When Snape enters the DADA classroom and tells the class, "Open your textbooks to page three hundred and ninety-four!" Another CLASSIC!

GoF-----When Harry & Ron are trying to get dates for the Yule Ball, they see a group from Durmstrang go up to some Hogwarts girls, bow to them, and one asks a girl to the Ball. She says yes, they bow again, and walk away. The look on Harry & Ron's faces.......PRICELESS!

The Yule Ball scene where Ron is jealous of Hermione with Viktor Krum. I love when Padma asks Ron, "Are you going to ask me to dance or not?" He simply says, "No".

And lastly, the scene where Harry & Cedric arrive to the graveyard.

OotP-------the battle in the Department of Mysteries! THE DEATH EATERS WERE THE FREAKIN' BOMB!!!!!
HBP--------Since that is my favorite book, I love every scene in the movie!

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

I loved the Felix scene. We get to enjoy some lighter mood from Harry. My favorite parts-
Slughorn: Harry!
Harry: Sir!
I also loved the 'pincers' thing. It was completely adorable, and it was nice to see some humorous acting out of Dan, since Harry's been in quite a dark mood over pretty much the entire OotP film. I felt that the humorous scenes were a nice addition in this movie, it needed a lighter streak. Other classics:

- Cormac vomiting on Snape's shoes
- "Nice skin" That was kind of weird and awkward in the most random way
- Ron on the Love Potion, that was priceless. He smacks Harry on the head, then "These girls- they're going to kill me"
- I loved the scene after Ron and Lavender kiss at the Quidditch party and Harry is comforting Hermione. I think it really shows a strengthened bond in their friendship, and how much they rely on each other. Also, we come to fully understand Harry's feelings for Ginny, and, more importantly IMO, Hermione and Ron's feelings.
- Draco starting to sob in the bathroom as Harry walks in. Awk-ward! But the fight was brilliant. It shows how hard this has been on Draco.
- "Did you and Ginny do it?" That was hilarious, too, although IMO the kiss wasn't quite as enjoyable as it was in the book.

I kind of remember this part - that was really funny.

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

I've talked about my favorite scenes in the film many times elsewhere, so these are some favorite lines:

Harry: Sorry I made you miss the carriages, by the way, Luna.
Luna: That's all right. It was like being with a friend.
Harry: Oh, I am your friend, Luna!
Luna: That's nice.

Harry: So, what brings you here?
Slughorn: Oh, The Three Broomsticks and I go way back, further than I care to admit. I can remember when it was one broomstick!

McGonagall: Why is it when something happens it is always you three?
Ron: Believe me, Professor, I've been asking myself the same question for six years.

Harry: It was Malfoy.
McGonagall: That is a very serious accusation, Potter.
Snape: Indeed. Your evidence?
Harry: I just know.
Snape: You just...know. Once again, you astonish me with your gifts, Potter, gifts mere mortals can only dream of possessing. How grand it must be to be The Chosen One.

Ron: What do you suppose Dean sees in her, Ginny?
Harry: What does she see in him?
Ron: Dean? He's brilliant.
Harry: You called him "slick git" not five hours ago.
Ron: Yeah, well, he was running his hands all over my sister, wasn't he? Something snaps, you've got to hate him, you know? On principle.
Harry: I suppose.
Ron: So what is it he sees in her?
Harry: I don't know; she's smart...funny...attractive...
Ron: Attractive?
Harry: You know, she's got nice skin.
Ron: Skin? You're saying Dean's dating my sister because of her skin?
Harry: Well, no, I mean, I'm just - I'm just saying it could be a contributing factor.
Ron: Hermione's got nice skin. I'm saying, as skin goes, I mean.

Dumbledore: This memory is everything. Without it, we are blind. Without it, we leave the fate of our world to chance.

Slughorn: Exactly how did you get out of the castle then?
Harry: Oh, through the front door, sir.

Harry: Only I can destroy him, but in order to do so, I need to know what Riddle asked you all those years ago in your office and I need to know what you told him. Be brave, Professor. Be brave like my mother. Otherwise, you disgrace her. Otherwise, she died for nothing. Otherwise, the bowl will remain empty. Forever.

Dumbledore: Draco, years ago, I knew a boy who made all the wrong choices...

All great lines, love 'em all to bits. Another...Harry on Felix Felicis just makes me laugh until I cry. Loved by many, but justly so.

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

I like the scene where Harry is at Slughorn's party and Snape comes up to Harry and tells him that Dumbledore is traveling and he won't be able to give Harry a lesson until after Christmas break. Then Harry asks where he is traveling to and Snape just stares at him and walks away.

He doesn't say it really kindly, but when you think about it, it's so ironic and hilarious!

"Well done, Draco. (kiss)"
Perfectly acted!

Weirdly, my favorite moment in the movie is the scene in the common room when Ginny tells Harry to hide the book. It almost looks like a painting. Bruno Delbonnel's photography there is stunning : the soft light, the blurred bodies, the chiaroscuro. Always a delight for the eyes

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

Hmm, well as I felt the HBP movie left out way too many of the story elements and the few exciting parts, I have to stick to the funny moments. Namely:

- "And take Mr. Weasley with you; he looks far too happy over there."
- "What are these?" "Dragon balls." "........." *yaks on Severus*
- The absurdity of Aragog's funeral speech and drunken Slughorn.
- Ron hugging Slughorn.

Oh, and the entire Quidditch tryout, with Ron falling over and making saves accidentally, while McLaggen was just sitting there staring at Hermione with his broomstick in a... well, very anatomically appropriate position.

Most missed funny moment: The Rotfang Conspiracy.

I agree - I thought that was hilarious! And his pincers impression - it was so funny to see Harry acting like a 5 year old.

Also, I loved McGonagall's line "take Mr. Weasley with you; he looks far too happy over there." It makes me laugh every time.

This! The expression on Snape's face is what gets me.

Horace Slughorn: What about you, Miss Granger? What do your parents do in the muggle world?
Hermione Granger: Ah, my parents are dentists.
Horace Slughorn: And is that considered a dangerous profession?

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

Any scene with the brilliant Jim Broadbent as Professor Slughorn, especially his eulogy for Aragog. How he hilariously emphasizes each word ("Your body will decaaaay, but your spirit lingers onnnnn!") had me in stitches.

And, of course, who could possibly forget this interaction in the film?

[Slughorn is snipping tentacular leaves through a window in the greenhouse; Harry, who is walking by, notices Slughorn and walks up behind him. Slughorn is startled]
Horace Slughorn: Aaauughh!... Merlin's beard, Harry!
Harry Potter: Oh, sorry, sir, I should've announced myself. Cleared my throat. Coughed. You probably feared I was Professor Sprout!
Horace Slughorn: Yes, I did actually!... What made you think that?
Harry Potter: Oh, well, just the general behavior, sir - the sneaking around, jumping when you saw me... Are those tentacular leaves, sir? They're very valuable, aren't they?
Horace Slughorn: Ten Galleons a leaf to the right buyer!... Not that I'm familiar with any such back alley transactions, but one does hear rumors. My own interests are purely academic, of course.
Harry Potter: Personally, these plants always kind of freak me out.

Re: Favorite scenes / lines in the HBP movie

The comedy was really good in this film... Dan and Rupert especially were brilliant

I loved the scene when Ron is "bewitched" by the love potion, first with Harry, sitting awkwardly close and then throwing things at him, and in Slughorns office, when he starts falling behind furniture

And of course the Felix Felicis scene was hilarious!
"HI!"
"Harry!" "Sir!"
"How did you get out of the castle?" "Oh, through the front door, sir!"
"Not to mention pincers..." *click, click, click*

I love Jessie Cave as Lavender, and the fight in the hospital wing with her and Hermione (as the teachers stand there awkwardly) was really well done!

On a more serious note, a scene that really stands out to me (I haven't seen HBP in a while) is with Harry and Draco in the bathroom. Tom Felton was sooo good in this movie, and particularly this scene... plus the lack of music while they were fighting was perfect, and then suddenly that haunting score as Draco's lying on the floor, twitching...

I'm rambling It was just really good.

'Take Weasely with you, he looks much too happy over there'

The Felix Feliscis scene was great. My favorite part.

I agree that they should have added the 'Rotfang Conspiracy' bit. That was brilliant.

Should you have said that?
Anyway.....the whole Slughorn's party scene was great. When Cormac threw up on Snape I spilled half my popcorn, I was laughing so hard.

What about the bit where Dan shouts 'Snape--he trusted you!'? That moment makes me feel like crying.....and when I saw it for the first time, in the theater, quicksilver was. Don't tell anybody though. ;)

Harry Potter: It was Malfoy.
Professor Minerva McGonagall: That is a very serious accusation, Potter.
Severus Snape: Indeed. Your evidence?
Harry Potter: ...I just know.
Severus Snape: You... just... know. Once again, you astound me with your gifts, Potter. How grand it must be to be the Chosen One.

Severus Snape: Put it down, Bella. We mustn't touch what isn't ours.

Severus Snape: Has it ever crossed your brilliant mind that I don't want to do this anymore?
Albus Dumbledore: Whether it has or it hasn't is irrelevant; you gave me your word.

Albus Dumbledore: Severus... please...
Severus Snape: [Pointing his wand at Dumbledore] Avada Kedavra!

Rubeus Hagrid: Seriously misunderstood creatures, spiders are. It's the eyes, I reckon, they unnerve some folk.
Harry Potter: Not to mention the pincers...
[clicks his tongue while miming pincers biting]

Also the scene where Harry uses the Sectum Sempra spell on Draco, then Severus comes in and heals him. That was a fantastic scene from the time Harry walks up behind Draco until the end where he's lying on the floor in a pool of blood and water and Severus is chanting the counter-curse over him

I thought the story about the fish that Slughorn told Harry was beautiful. I loved that scene.
The scene where Bellatrix turns Hagrids Hut on fire then squeals like a girl is great too and when Harry says "Snape, he trusted you!" (Although I wish they had included the part where Snape says "Don't call me a coward!" Alan Rickman would have been brilliant.)
The christmas party where Harry asks Snape where Dumbledore is going and Snape just looks at him and walks away - I loved Alans face when he stared at Harry for a second then just walked away - perfect!

I think 'Snape--he trusted you' was a great line, and I'm not ashamed to say I was crying. Dan had a great delivery, it was really believable.
