Re: Favourite HP movie so far
HBP really is the winner for me so far. A also love PoA, but now HBP took the lead. I like the others as well as long I don't compare them with the books, what I decided to do since CoS, that is so far my least favorite.

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
I would have to say I like the first one the best.
It was the closest to the book in my opinion. The characters and the descriptions fit. Not to mention the original actor for Dumbledore did a really goo job in my opinion. |

For me it would be the second cause i liked Dobby otherwise it might have been the first.I think for the other movies the scriptwriters should be shot.If J.K. says she likes them its ok with me but i cannot understand why. They left out and changed too much for it to be called a HP movie. I do like the way Luna is played though its not the actors i don't like except perhaps Dumbledore 2 its mostly what they did with the story. There is only 1 thing i have with Dan's acting. The times he faces a Dementor he looks scared stiff so i don't see how he would be able to produce the smallest Patronus. |

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Order of the Phoenix 3. Goblet of Fire 4. Philosopher's Stone 5. Half Blood Prince 6. Chamber of Secrets Prisoner has always been my favourite since it came out. I thought Half Blood Prince was very faithful to the book and very well done...but for some reason I really don't like it. I really cannot put my finger on it but I found the movie somehow rather bland.

Re: Where does HBP rank in your favorite HP films?
Quote:
YES. me too!!!!!the rest of the films were a loooong way behind! i'd have to say Cos was number two, and OOTP and PS tie third. then the GoF last, HBP. i have watched HBP twice and i just can't figure out why people liked it so much!! the screen was too dark to see all the details half the time, there were a lot of confusing, poorly done and unnecessary elements added and many scenes that made HBP as a book memorable were cut out of the movie. as for the dialogue in HBP, it was just so overworked and it felt so unnatural! and they twist the plot so fast that even having read the book 4times, i was still confused about all that chopping around the film was doing... Re: Favourite HP movie so far
I like GoF, but I think that this movie is only "commercial", because this movie has only special effects, not a great story like the book.
But, my favourites movies are The Chamber of the Secrets and The Half-Blood Prince, and I have hopes for DH. ![]()

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
My favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban. Cuaron just captured the "magic" of the series perfectly! Half-Blood Prince would have been first if they had stuck closer to the book's ending.
1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Half-Blood Prince 3. Sorcerer's Stone (it's bland...yet so magical) 4. Order of the Phoenix 5. Goblet of Fire 6. Chamber of Secrets

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
In terms of script, acting, characterisation etc, HBP is the best by miles. Such a good film. (:

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
I can't decide between HBP and PoA. PoA is great, I love the way it looks and feels, and I really love the way they handled the Time Turner sequence. For HBP I love the script slightly less, but I thought the actors as a group were great. All the teen romantic comedy was done so well, Harry had some great moments, Tom Felton really stepped up and made a lot out of the heightened inportance of his character in this particlar film's plot, and most importanly, Rickman and Gambon did a great job with their characters....ah the drama!

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
As with everyone, my favorite two are POA and HBP. Two of the darkest films in the series, though I do have to say that OOTP was my least favorite book, and I liked the film a whole lot more. Least fav film has got to be GOF,and right behind that COS. COS was just too much too soon, and GOF was completely unfaithful to the book where it needed to be most.
On another note, I love how these films went from so whimsical under the direction of Columbus to very dark in just the style under Curan, and even more.. Yates. |

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
My favorite one so far is Half-Blood Prince. It's not perfect, but it's the one movie so far in the series that made me laugh and smile the most. The runner up is probably Prisoner of Azkaban.
1. HBP 2. POA 3. GOF 4. COS 5. SS/PS

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
1- PS/SS. It was very loyal to the book.
2- COS. It was also loyal to the book and I really liked the Chamber Of Secrets part. 3- POA. The actors and actresses were getting better. I really like the Shrieking Shack scene. 4- HBP. This movie was funny but not loyal to the book. It is my 4th favorite because of Tom Felton's and Helena Bohem Carter's performances. 5- GOF. The reason OTTP isn't tied for last place with this one is because of the graveyard scene. 6- OTTP. The only thing that makes this movie okay is the MOM scene. It was nothing like the book but I still kind of liked that scene.

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
HBP by far. After the first three movies I started to lose interest -- stopped seeing them in the theater or on DVD and instead just caught bits and pieces of GoF and OotP on cable. Then I watched HBP on a long airplane flight and was blown away. It revived my interest in the series and I'm now eagerly awaiting DH 1 and 2.
I think the main point for me is that the acting of the young stars is unbelievably improved in HBP -- not only are they passable, they're actually very good. I'm now starting to believe that all three of them (and Tom Felton too) could have an acting career after the series is over if that's what they're interested in. Beyond that, I really enjoyed how the Ron/Hermione/Lavender storyline was adapted for the screen and will even say I think it was handled better in the movie than in the book (I know -- sacrilege!). Finally, I think the producer, director & screenwriter made some really good choices in adapting the book as a whole for the screen. HBP the book is a sprawling work that is to a large degree the set-up and exposition for DH. That makes it difficult to turn into a movie that would appeal to the ~80% of the paying customers who haven't read the books. I think the guys at Warner Bros. consistently made the difficult but correct decisions as they brought the book to the screen -- though I realize that inevitably some of the choices would disappoint the diehard fans of the books. |

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
My pick would be HBP....and the best scene in it was Harry's adventure with Felix Felicis...it was very funny!
I cant wait for DH..I sort of have a feeling that the 7th movie is going to be the best..probably because the've split into to two so that they dont have to cut any portion from the book.. But on another note, the first two movies were the only ones that completely stuck to the books! Kudos to Chris Colombus for that! I would give them no 2 spot..

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
Hmmm I'm one of those few fans who actually does actually love all the movies. I think my order would go like this: (best to worst)
1. Half-Blood Prince 2. Prisoner of Azkaban 3. Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone 4 Chamber of Secrets 5. Goblet of Fire (I don't understand why everyone hates this film so much, I thoguht they did a good job of condensing it.) 6. Order of the Phoenix |

Re: Favourite HP movie so far
Prisoner of Azkaban. This is the only movie that stands on its own in my opinion, and the only one I'm willing to watch over and over again.
Half-Blood Prince has some really good moments (and a very interesting photography and colour), but is completely misdirected. |
