"On the bubble" means on the verge of cancellation, or at least uncertain that it'll be renewed. And it is a shame that that's the case with this show - 'though not a surprise at all. I think NBC's desperation will, as with last year, result in Community being picked up for season 3, but I don't know.

I will be devastated if it gets cancelled. It seems like my very favorite shows are always on the bubble.

I completely missed that! But yes, I agree with NBC completely. It's such a fresh take on comedy that isn't that common on tv these days. What impresses me most with the show is how the writers aren't afraid to take the show somewhere new while maintaining consistency (in terms of characterization and reminding the viewer of past events).

I wasn't in love with tonight's episode. I think Community has set the bar so high for me that I feel meh about episodes of this show that would be good episodes of any other comedy.

Watched it online. It was different than I expected. Has anyone seen Dinner with Andre? I'm guessing if one had seen it the episode would've resonated more.

I was actually really put off when I found out that Community was doing a Pulp Fiction episode - and Pulp Fiction is not only one of my favorite movies ever, it's one of the most important to me, I find it totally exhilarating and satisfying no matter how much I see it. But we've been hearing about so many tributes/theme episodes lately, and I've grown tired of that. It's happened a few times now; hearing about so many of these gets me more cynical than I should be, and then I actually see the episode, and I'm reminded that this show generally doesn't do mere reference humor. This wasn't simply the "Pulp Fiction Episode" - and, although I haven't seen the movie, I'm guessing it wasn't simply the "My Dinner with Andre Episode" either. I don't think it was a great episode, but there was some substance, and it was strangely in character of Abed to use an homage to My Dinner with Andre as the basis for forming an actual connection with Jeff.


Also, I feel I need to mention that Cougar Town, despite its silly title (which is usually mocked in the opening credits of the show, by the way) has become a great series in its own right; it's up there with Modern Family, Parks and Recreation, and, of course, Community among the best comedies on TV right now. And not set in a place called Cougar Town.

Great episode (as if that's a surprise). I particularly loved the very idea of a college course on "Who's the Boss?" Nice takeoff on the number of college courses there actually are on TV shows - I'm not against the idea if the show merits some analysis (I'd love to take a "Simpsons" course, I'm not gonna lie), but there's definitely room for parody. It didn't hurt that Stephen Tobolowsky played Abed's teacher, either (busy season for him between this, "Californication," and "Glee"...then again, it's Stephen Tobolowsky, dude's in everything). Troy and Britta's and Jeff and Pierce's storylines were very funny, too, and bonus: "Veronica Mars" reference!

Me either. I liked the brief Troy/Britta flirtation on this episode. It pays off on that moment they shared on the Basic Rocket Science episode, but I don't think I'd like them together as a long-term couple.

Wow. I loved tonight's episode and knew I would halfway through it. While the past few episodes have been good, this one reminded me that Community can be great. I don't have any interesting comments to make right now, but I'll probably edit or post again when I rewatch the episode. I really liked the end with Dean Pelton's cartoon, though.

I was really surprised by the pairing, to be honest. It was a bit random, IMO, especially when I think back to "Custody Law and Eastern European Diplomacy" where you see Troy take off his bandana (?) after seeing that Britta was wearing the same thing.

I was pretty worried at first that that would actually be a clip show (besides the general lousiness/uselessness of them, it's way too early for this show to have one), but of course, this is Community: Clip show? No! Faux-clip show about being a clip show? Yes! There were a lot of obvious jokes or jokes I'd seen on other shows (for instance, Jeff's "Please, you can do that with...Pierce and Abed!" and then the ridiculous Pierce/Abed montage set to the exact same song, illustrating the easiness and randomness of the musical montage, was an observation that 30 Rock made earlier this season, and probably funnier there, 'though still funny here), but it was still a really good episode. Speaking of 30 Rock, weirdly enough, the episode that aired a couple hours after Community last night also featured a meta commentary on clip shows - there were other things going on in the 30 Rock episode, though, it wasn't about being a clip show.

I loved it! I was also thinking how much fun it was for them to sit around and make up the random clips for this episode. It must've been something like, "I've always wanted to see Abed do X . . . "
