Re: Most Shocking Moment in the Series

The whole Prince's tale, to me. We learn so much in this chapter. We learn about Snape's true nature and we learn that Harry is actally a horcrux and needs to die. That's quite possibly the most complex and important chapter of the entire serie. I also like how there were so many flashbacks from previous books. It made me nostalgic. The movie totally did justice to that epic part too.

Neville being the other «chosen one» was also a defining moment for me. His role became more interesting first when he learned about what happened to his parents (book 4). But in book 5, Neville's role truly takes another dimension. He becomes a «tragic» character like Harry an from then on, I knew he would play an important part in the fight against Voldemort. I honesty never expected him to have such big part in the final book though. Before reading book 7, I thought Neville would be quite heroic, probably killing Bellatrix or something like that. But I never expected him to be the carismatic, fearless leader.

Scabbers being Peter Pettigrew was also a big shocker.

Re: Most Shocking Moment in the Series

I was saddened to read of Hedwig dying - and in the movie Harry's pain watching her die was palpable

All of the human character deaths were disturbing - but JK Rowling discussed this in the YouTube video of her and Daniel Radcliff, stating that it was a war, and during times of war people die. What shocked me during that interview was how she contemplated killing Ron, but eventually decided against it. I immediately thought of Hermione and what she would have become if Ron had died - perhaps she would have experienced a future much like Professor McGonagall...

I would say that Dobby dying was a big one for me. The way JKR wrote it brought me to the brink of tears. Also, when Snape confesses his love for Lily. That one totally caught me off guard.

The Prince's Tale.

Because I'm an idiot, I fell hook-line-and-sinker when in HBP Snape supposedly revealed his true colors and killed Dumbledore. So after watching the movie and reading the book, I next went into Deathly Hallows just taking it for granted that Snape was now a villain who, like Voldemort, had to be removed. Then that line from Dumbledore during Snape's backstory: "No, you must kill me, Severus." I came close to literally smacking my palm against my forehead.

Also, once I learned of the Horcruxes in HBP, I initially theorized that Harry's scar would be the final Horcrux to be destroyed. But I'd forgotten that I'd thought of that when I got to the Prince's Tale, so when it was revealed that Harry was, in fact, the last Horcrux, it was an "HOLY ****" moment for me!

I hate the way Sirius died. All happened too fast. But Nagini coming out of Bathilda's neck scared the s*** out of me and Dumbledore's death

Re: Most Shocking Moment in the Series

1. freds death

2. sirius being a good guy (i was sideswipped the first time i read it)

3. either sirius death, but thats just me being a romantic... if not that then probably snapes death. shocking because it was an amazing way to end a brilliant characters story.
