I was inspired to write this be the relative dearth to Teddy Lupin fanfiction out there.

DISCLAIMER: I am not JK Rowling, nor do I own her characters. I do own all non-Harry Potter canon- characters.

Chapter 1 - The Cloak.

“Teddy, dear, is your trunk packed?”
“Yes, Grandma. For God’s sake, relax.”
“I would relax if I didn’t know that you’ve forgotten something.”
“I don’t leave till tomorrow, Grandma!”
Andromeda Tonks finally calmed down. “All right. Fine. I just don’t want you to be late for tomorrow when Harry comes to pick you up.”
“I won’t be.” Eleven year old Teddy gave his grandma a quick hug. His parents had both died in the Second Wizarding War when he was a baby, so he had been raised by his grandmother and his godfather, Harry Potter.
“I’m so proud of you. My little Teddy, all ready to go to Hogwarts!”
“Grandma, relax. You’ve known I’m going since I was born.”
“I know, but I’m still proud.” The doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it.” Teddy ran to the door. Opening the door revealed the guest to be none other than his godfather.
“Hi Teddy. Is your grandma home?”
“Grandma, Harry’s here!”
Andromeda ran to greet Harry as fast as she could. “I wasn’t expecting you at all! Please, stay to eat. I made spaghetti bolognaise.”
“Thank you, Mrs Tonks...”
“Please, Harry, how many times do I have to remind you that it’s Andromeda?”
“...but I promised Ginny I’d be home for dinner. I just wanted to speak to Teddy quickly.”
“Very well.”
“Teddy, do you mind if we go to your room?” Harry followed Teddy to a door which had the sign “Theodore’s Room.” Upon entry, it was undistinguishable from any 11 year old Muggle boy’s room, except for the moving posters. Harry noticed that the giant Transformers movie poster he had given Teddy for his 10th birthday after they had gone to see the movie. Teddy was mystified by the idea of moving pictures on a screen, but still enjoyed the numerous explosions enough to convince Harry to buy him a poster from the movie.
“What’s wrong, Harry?”
“Nothing with me. I just wanted to check on you and see how you were feeling.”
Teddy sighed deeply. “I’m scared.”
“Why?”
“Because of Mum and Dad. Everyone will know my parents were war heroes. How do I live up to that? At least when James and Albus and all of them go to school, they’ll have each other. I don’t have anyone.”
Harry sat on his bed. “Teddy, there is something I wanted to tell you. Remember when I told you the story of the Deathly Hallows? And my role with them?”
“How you united all three Hallows?”
“Exactly. When I was walking to meet Voldemort in the forest, I used the Resurrection Stone. I called upon my parents, my godfather Sirius and your father. The true Marauders.”
Teddy nodded. Harry had told him all about his father and the tales of the Marauders.
“When I spoke to your father, I apologised to him for putting him and your mum in danger just after you were born. He said that he was sorry as well, but he hoped that you would understand. Understand that he died trying to create a world where you could have a better life.”
Teddy nodded, wide eyed.
“Do you see? The fact that you are alive, healthy, around those who love you and about to go to Hogwarts is all your parents would have wanted.”
“I see.”
“Here. I have something for you.” Harry pulled a long, silvery cloak out of his bag.
“What is it?”
“It’s my invisibilty cloak. An old family heirloom.”
“Do you mean...”
“Yes. It is that cloak.”
“Wow.” Teddy took it out of Harry’s hands and felt it. He put it over his head only to notice that it had disappeared.
“Cool.”
“It is pretty cool, but I hardly use it anymore. It’s not practical for field missions. So I’m giving it to you on one condition. When you finish school, I would like it if you gave it to James.”
“Of course.” Teddy was in awe as Harry checked his watch.
“I better get going. It’s mine and Ginny’s night together.”
“Wear some protection.” Teddy joked, and Harry threw a cushion at him as he left the room.
Teddy cradled the magical cloak in his hands. He posessed one of the Deathly Hallows. One of the most magical objects in existence. What could he possibly fear now?

Re: Spawn

“Teddy, Harry’s here!” Andromeda called out to Teddy as he exited his room.
“I’m ready!”
“No you’re not. Go fix your hair and wear a clean shirt.”
“Grandma, I’ll be changing into robes anyway...”
“Nevermind. I’m not going to let you go on the train for the first time looking like a vagabond.”
Teddy sighed. At least being a Metamorphmagus meant he didn’t have to worry about brushing his hair. He screwed up his face and tidied up his messy brown mop of hair as he changed into a clean polo shirt before stepping out to see his grandma.
“You look so handsome. Just like your grandfather.”
“Grandma...”
Just then, Harry stepped inside. “Are you both ready to leave?”
“Yes - Teddy, get your trunk.”
“Never mind, Mrs Tonks.” Harry waved his wand and the trunk floated out of Teddy’s room, past them and into the boot of Harry’s station wagon.
“Got your other stuff?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay, let’s make a move.” Teddy climbed into the back seat to notice that he was sharing with Ginny and the Potter’s one year old daughter, Lily, who was sleeping.
“Hi Ginny.”
“Hi Teddy. Ready for your first day?”
“I guess.”
“I remember my first day. I had been wanting to go to Hogwarts ever since my oldest brother left when I was a baby. I was so excited when the day finally came and I got on the train.”
“Okay, does everyone have their seatbelts on?” Harry whispered.
“It’s OK Harry, Lily’s sound asleep.”
“Hey, where are James and Al?” Teddy asked. As irritating as they could be together, Teddy had to admit he enjoyed spending time with them.
“We had to leave them with Harry’s cousin.”
“Harry’s muggle cousin?”
“Yeah, we didn’t have much choice. Ginny’s parents are in France with Bill and Fleur cause she wanted to give birth to her last baby there, and all the others are busy.”
“But can he manage two magical children?” Andromeda inquired worringly as Harry took the car onto the open road.
“They only show magic when they’re angry at this stage. And since they know a visit to Uncle D means lollies and video games, they tend to behave when they visit him.”
“What exactly are video games?” Andromeda enquired.
Harry was about to respond until a car cut him off.

After an eventful journey, they finally made their way to Kings Cross.
“Teddy, you know how to go in, right?”
“Yeah, we went to see last year. Walk through the barrier between platforms 9 and 10.”
“Okay, we’ll both go in together. Ginny, you and Mrs Tonks can come after us.”
Eventually, Harry managed to extricate a trolley for Teddy’s trunk.
“Wait, I have something else for you.” Ginny opened the boot of the car to reveal a small barn owl.
“I picked him out. Unfortunately James decided he had the right to name him and now he doesn’t respond to anything other than Elmo.”
“That’s okay.” Teddy grinned as he placed Elmo’s cage on top of the trunks.
“Right, we better get a move on.” Harry checked his watch. “Teddy, you ready?”
“I’m ready.”
“Okay, let’s do it.” Harry and Teddy both grabbed hold of his trolley and, making sure no Muggles were watching, strolled through the barrier and into platform nine and three quarters.
As always on the first day of school, the platform was full and bustling as families came to see their children off to school. Harry and Teddy almost lost track of Ginny, Lily and Andromeda until they eventually made their way over to the end of the platform.
“Teddy, you want me to help you get your stuff onto the train?”
“No thanks Harry, I’ll be OK.”
“You sure? There’s a lot of stuff here...”
“I’m fine.” Teddy made himself grow a few inches and pump up his eleven year old muscles. Lily, now awake, giggled at the sight.
“Alright, I understand.” He gave Teddy a quick hug. “I’m sorry mate, but we have to go now - Ginny has to feed Lily and I have to pick the boys up.” Ginny gave Teddy a hug and a kiss before she picked Lily up off the trolley, where she had enjoyed riding on top of Teddy’s trunk.
“Teddy, I know I’ve said this many times already, but I want to remind you again how proud I am of you. And I know your mother, father and grandfather will be watching you right now and they will be feeling the exact same thing.” Andromeda opened her arms and gave Teddy a big hug, and, even though he felt awkward considering their location, he responded.
“Now go and have fun, but work hard and stay out of trouble.”
“I will, Grandma.”
“I’m going to miss you.”
Teddy smiled as he lugged his trunks onto the train, Elmo’s cage hanging off his arm.

Re: Spawn

Chapter 3: The Hogwarts Express.

DISCLAIMER: I am not JK Rowling, I don’t own any canon HP characters or other related media, I do own the souls of all non-canon characters, yadda yadda yadda.

It took some effort, but Teddy eventually managed to find an empty place on the train towards the southern end. He managed to heft his trunks onto the shelf above his chair before deciding to release Elmo and feed him some of the Owl Treats Ginny had left him.

The little owl sat on his shoulder and hooted gently. Teddy smiled. He had never had a pet before - well, unless you count the stray cat he had adopted for two days before his Grandma had found it and shooed it out of the house.

He was just about to stretch out when he witnessed a boy about his age at the entrance to his compartment.

“D’you mind if I sit here? The rest of the train is totally packed.” The boy spoke with a strong Manchester accent.
Teddy shrugged. “Sure, there’s plenty of space.”
“Thanks. I’m Crawford, by the way. Jay Crawford.”
“Teddy Lupin.” Teddy stood up to shake hands, but Jay was noticably surprised.
“Wait a minute. You’re Teddy Lupin?”
“You know me?” Teddy was surprised. He was used to glances whenever he went out with Harry in the magical world, but that was because even eleven years after the Second Wizarding War, Harry was still worshipped as a hero by most wizards.
But no one knew who Teddy was. His parents had been fighting for the good side, he knew, but they weren’t celebrities or war heroes - to anyone but him, his family and their fellow warriors.
“Yeah, course I do.”
“How?”
Jay took a pause. “You don’t know? You’ve never seen a Harry Potter book? I thought they’d be all over the shelves in the wizarding world.”
“Wait a minute. Harry Potter books? Harry’s never told his full story to anyone!”
Jay paused. “Maybe I should explain.”
“Yeah, you should.”
“I’m Muggle-born - me dad’s a mechanic and me mam works in a bank. When I was a little kid, me brother got this book called Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Once ‘e was done with it, I picked it up and started reading. Bloody good read it was. Eventually, I finished all the books - there were seven in the series. Soon after I finished, I got my ‘Ogwarts letter. I was bloody thrilled, I was, cause I’d read all about Hogwarts in the books and now I actually got to go there. I knew I could do some wierd stuff, but I never realised I was capable of magic.”
“So wait a second. Who wrote these books?”
“I dunno. Some lady called J.K. Rowling.”
Teddy inhaled sharply. “I know her.”
“You do?”
“Yeah, she was the Muggle lady who lived next door to Harry in the house he and his wife Ginny...”
“I know all about Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley, mate...”
“...moved into after the Second War.” Teddy inhaled sharply. It made perfect sense. But how did Ms Rowling learn all about the wizarding world? Did Harry tell her? All he knew is that he would have a few questions in his next owl to Harry. Then suddenly another thought hit him.
“I was born towards the end of the Second War, just before the Battle of Hogwarts. How much is there in the story about me?”
“Not much aye. Just a few mentions of you as a baby and of your hair changing colour.”
“Occupational hazard of being a baby Metamorphmagus, mate.” Teddy screwed up his face and turned his hair blonde.
“And...” It was now Jay’s turn to sharply inhale.
“And what?”
“Oh, nothing.”
“Tell me.”
“Nuh-uh.”
“Go on.”
Jay sighed. “Fine. Do you know Victoire Weasley?”
“Victoire? Yeah, she’s Harry and Ginny’s niece - I’ve met her when I went to a couple of Weasley family get-togethers. Cute kid, but she can be real bossy at times. But I guess being the oldest Weasley gives you that privilege.”
“Well, you might want to keep an eye on her.”
“Why?” Teddy asked before he noticed the glint in Jay’s eye. “Wait...no...how’d you know?”
“No idea. They got a competent Seer for the last chapter?”
“Maybe.” And then Teddy grinned to himself. “If her mum’s anything to go by, then the Ted’s gonna be doing pretty well with the ladies.” As he said this, he transformed into a tall, handsome figure with long blonde hair. He also took the time to strike a heroic pose as Jay laughed at the sight. Before he could do anything, however, they heard a group of boys laughing manically.
“What’s going on there?” Jay asked.
“Let’s go have a look.” So they exited the compartment, Teddy not bothering to return to his normal state.

They soon realised the source of the laughter - a group of older boys were levitating a girl in the air and laughing at her.
“Where are the prefects? They should be stopping this.” Teddy grunted until he realised that two of the boys were prefects from Gryffindor and Ravenclaw respectively. He was also now close enough to hear the things they were yelling at the girl.
“Pure blood scum...**** of b**ch...we don’t need Death Eaters here...”
“Death Eaters?” Jay asked, eyes wide.
“You didn’t read about Death Eaters in those books?” Teddy asked somewhat sarcastically.
“Oh yeah, I did...but who’s the girl?”
“I don’t know.”
“Should we do something?”
“I don’t know - should we call a teacher or something? Neither of us know any real magic.”
“Good idea.” Jay ran off to find a teacher while Teddy shrunk himself to hide out of sight. Eventually Jay returned with Professor Slughorn.
“Young man, there had better be a good reason...oh my lord!” Slughorn strode into the compartment with Jay behind him.
“What have we here? McLaggen, you know that your father is an old friend of mine - would you like me to let him know how you’re abusing your prefect power?”
“No sir.”
“Same for you, Maggette, Biedrins, Ellis. Put the girl down and go do your prefect duties. I would take points from your houses but we haven’t even arrived yet.” The boys all sighed and left the room as McLaggen let the girl down gently.
“You alright, young lady?” Slughorn asked in a concerned tone.
“I think so...but what were they doing to me?” The girl’s accent was also unusual - Australia? New Zealand? Teddy couldn’t pick it.
“It was just a Levicorpus charm - no strong side effects. You should be fine.” Slughorn clapped her on the back. “You should thank this young man for coming to find me - I was able to stop them before they moved onto anything serious.”
“Um...thanks,” the girl said somewhat shyly.
“Well, I must be off. But I suggest that the two of you keep a close watch on your owls - I may have a surprise in there for the both of you.” And with that, Slughorn departed the scene.
“Thanks for saving me.”
“Oh it was no problem. It was Teddy’s idea to go get help - I almost considered going in all guns blazing but then he reminded me that we’re both first years and haven’t learnt any real magic.”
“I’m a first year too,” she said to both boys.
“Really?” Teddy spoke for the first time in a while. He was surprised - she was noticably taller than both of them and looked like she was thirteen or fourteen, rather than eleven.
“Yeah. Hey, do you guys know if there’s an empty compartment near here? I don’t want to run into those guys again.”
“Um, we’ve got room in our compartment. You can join us...if you like.” Teddy said somewhat awkwardly.
“Really? Thanks!”
The three of them eventually headed back to the boys’ compartment where the girl put her trunks next to Jay’s and grabbed the seat by the window.
“I guess we should introduce ourselves. I’m Jay Crawford, this is Teddy Lupin.”
The girl smiled. “I’m Elektra Malfoy.”
