Interesting thought, actually - what ep was Gaiman's supposed to be? I always thought it was one of the eps between the first and second 2 parters, which if memory serves would mean it's 5 or 6, which would be the end of 6a...
No, he said that he wouldn't have cast her and didn't even plan to look at her because he assumed she was small and ugly. And then he cast her because she's unexpectedly tall and gorgeous. I'm sure he didn't cast Matt as the Doctor because he's handsome.

Yeah, OK, one could interpret that as sexist, but that's the visual media industry for you. When was the last time you saw a distinctly average looking lass on the box, let alone a pig-ugly one? I'm sure he's not like that in his private life.

I don't think you get Mr Moffat's sense of humour at all.

As for the split ? I honestly don't mind about it being split. Other than i bet they won't reduce the cost of the boxsets. And will this mean Merlin gets shunted in the schedules (if it comes back for another series next year).

Merlin's got a third run in the can or close to it, due to start up any week now (well, the "coming soon" trails that everyone hates should be due back any week), but as for a 4th, it'll depend on the ratings for the 3rd.

As for the box sets, if they're more than £30, they can jolly well forget it. I saw series 4 going for £70 more than I did £30, and that was a full year after the finale aired! And as for the Complete Specials boxset, you can bloody well forget it! I haven't seen that availible anywhere that's not Play or Amazon for yonks! (Though to be fair, last I checked, Amazon had the Specials going for about £22).

Gee, and I thought BBC box sets in the U.S. were bad. They typically run for about $100 per series for most of the newer BBC shows, including DW and Torchwood. Children of Earth was the only set I can remember seeing that was less than $30.

It's back on the 11th of September (no start time as yet). Ratings should be good, series 3 is apparently something special (in the awesome sense). Though i could be wrong on that point.

Hadn't heard of a start date, cheers for that.

Blu-Ray's going for £28.97 on Amazon.

He didn't say that at all (based on the article, didn't watch the video). Had he no intention of casting her based on the video she wouldn't have been called in for a personal audition.

Anyway, the table reads for the next series are underway.

My rule of thumb for DVDs and games is wait six months and it's about half-price. That said, TV series usually hold their price longer.

For games it has the added benefit of being patched and often bundled with expansion packs.

OK, the Sun has been campaigning for a Simpsons/Who crossover- and the QI forum has found this

Why? Is the Who/Simpsons community at-large clammoring for this crossover? I'm not and most of America wouldn't get it I'm sure...it's not like Harry Potter. Gotta love The Sun...

Matt Groening is apparently a massive Doctor Who fan. They've slipped in Doctor Who references into the Simpsons a few times and what appears to be the 4th Doctor has also had a cameo.

Anyway Moffat on the Christmas Special and Series 6 -

“That’s absolutely coming. You’re going to find out very soon, and that means we have to do it next series, really… The critical thing here is I want to explain who she is, not explain away who she is. If you don’t deliver on most people’s expectations, and you just say, ‘Ooh, she’s a specially programmed android who believes she’s the Doctor’s wife,’ people will go, ‘That‘s a cheat.’ You can’t do that… It’s a really good story, and it’s sort of the story of next year.”
I'm glad they wont be "explaining away" who River is. I actually would like her to be someone significant in the Doctor's life and stick around for a bit (at least pop back up once in a while).

I even have an avatar of one of the Fourth Doctor's Simpsons cameos.

"who They are" eh?

Right, that's pretty much every guess we've ever made out the flippin' window then.

Re: The new Doctor Who v.5 (spoilers up to series 4 and specials and now series 5!)

I saw the new "series" premiere of this show when I was in Italy this past Spring and was absolutely hooked before the first commercial break. Right away I pulled out my computer too look it up, because it was a bit confusing. Thats when I noticed a familiar name in an older series, David Tennant, to us known as Barty Crouch... Junior! I was able to stay up with the old one with VOD and watched all the Barty Crouch Jr. ones online. I'm so excited for the new season to come on. Is Matt Smith still the doctor? and when is it returning? I'm looking forward to more trips in the TARDIS!

Yes, Matt Smith is thankfully still the Doctor! He'll be returning to British television on Christmas Day for a one off special and then a new series will begin in the spring.

Who's Charlie? Last I checked the only redhead in the box (the big blue one, not the big 22-incher with rubbish signal that I've got) was Amy.
