Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Depends. No because firstly, I will not join the military if I can help it. Secondly, if I was given that choice, most likely I would be a student who would most likely be fighting with adult wizards who have completed their education/training and taking that kind of risk would be too high for me. But if my loved ones was killed by a death eater before, then I will definitely fight in the battle.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I strongly doubt that if I were an inexperienced teenage Hogwarts' student I would be of much use in an open battle against highly experienced Death Eaters. The best I could do in that scenario would probably be to serve as cannon fodder and delay one Death Eater by, like, two seconds.
I would help with an undercover assassination plot against Voldemort afterwards though (if I felt that that plot was viable and I knew that I could make a genuine contribution). I don't have any desire to die heroically but pointlessly. I am not a Gryffindor ![]()

If i was actually old enough to stay (I'm 14) i would have no doubt. I would hate being a coward and just running away.

Yes, unless Voldemort specifically wanted to kill me

Not participating in the bloodbath... Unless I hold all wands.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Another way to phrase it:
You're in a bank, and a gang of armed robbers (LV and his DEs) come in with guns flashing, demanding money from the tellers and patrons. Do you get down on the floor like everyone one else was told to, or do you try to conspire quickly with the other patrons to overcome the robbers just as the police (teachers, adult wizards) start to raid the place, with bullets flying left and right? Because it's probably going to be a lot like that. When this is for real, and your only life - everything- is really, truly, genuinely on the line..I think most here would do what most people in the above scenario do. Think "Diehard".. not that many Bruce Willis' around. If I'm as outmatched as those kids were, honestly, I'd probably get out of dodge; though, I might snipe a shot at a DE should the opportunity present itself, and I was pretty sure I could get away with it. ONLY if I felt I had absolutely nothing to lose, that this battle would absolutely define the future with no hope of reversal, and life wouldn’t' be worth living if it were lost, might I go into direct battle, but I'd do so with a suicidal mindset, not expecting to survive it. It would be an act of desperation, not heroics.

I, myself, would most likely get out o' dodge or find a really good place to stow away and take DEs out from a really good, camoflauged hunting hide, archers-in-defense-of-a-castle-style. Good capability to take opponents out with minimal exposure of and risk to myself. (I suspect i've got some Slytherin in me, lol)

I think the risk wouldn't be worth it. A student fighting against trained adults? I would definitely leave with the Slytherins.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I'd like to say think that I would - I tend to avoid conflict in general, but there's a big difference when it's really a worthwhile conflict that could potentially change the course of the entire world.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Most people will say "YES! I WOULD!" but how many of them people are lying. I would like to believe I would have stayed, to leave, to me would have been the ultimate betrayal to myself to abandon my friends and not do anything to help save innocent lives. To be honest I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if I had left.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I would have stayed but not like the shock troop kind of form(Like Remus or Dora) but more like working spells from the top towers like a sniper(Like Flitwick or Pomona)..

But if during the war I was older I think I would have stayed behind and fought, just not on the front lines. I definitely couldn't have left if I had friends and family there, and I'm a Gryffindor and would want to help as much I could anyways. I would have tried to stay behind the scenes and shoot spells and watch people's backs from afar. The trio ended up saving people that way when they were running through the castle under the Invisibility Cloak, so I think I could have done some good that way. |

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Well I'm not exactly the reckless brave and defiant to the last breath type so I guess I Wouldn't stay to see the murderous gleam in their eyes...
However,I would gladly charm any artefact or place that might be turned into a deadly trap and butcher them with minimal effort. If It so happened I had the required skill and power I would just summon one freakishly giant piece of rock from space and crush the whole lot of them or conjure and giant magnifying lass to less the sun do all the roasting while I enjoy a Milkshake.Oh and what about a one way portkey to the Sun? But the most likely scenario is I get the f@#& out of there on the fastest flying thing! |

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Definitely. The fate of the Wizarding World, well, the world in general, depended on defeating Voldemort. If he took over he was going to kill all of those that he thought would be a problem anyway, so better to go down fighting. Kind of like the Alamo.

Yes, definitely, and I'd have NO problem using the killing curse on death eaters, or sectumsempra at least.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I'm not really sure. I'm kind of a moody creature. I like the thought of facing off against evil. On the other hand, I kind of admired the Malfoys slinking away down the Yellow Brick Road too, in the self-preservation waltz. I guess I wouldn't really know what I would do unless I was actually faced with it...

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I like to say I would but as I have never been in such a situation, I'm not sure. I probably would but I'm a Hufflepuff, not a Gryffindor, not the bravest there is.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
Honestly? I have no clue whether or not if I would stay. I know part of me would be very afraid of going into a battle. Where you got deatheaters, who are far more experienced then you are, firing spells everywhere. But you also have to think about what's being fought for. I think ultimately I would fight. I mean, you have friends and family fighting as well, I'd want to stick by them, and fight for what's right. I think that most of us would say yes, but we could only ever determine that if we were in a situation like this.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I would definitely stay. At this point, Voldemort has taken over everything. Nobody else has the concentrated skill and firepower to resist him. Hogwarts was a magically enchanted castle with a ready made army within it. By all accounts, the Battle of Hogwarts was a last stand for Wizarding England. If we lost that battle, then your only options would be to submit and hope you don't die horribly, or go to germany and hope their more warlike and able to resist him.

Re: Would you have stayed back to fight at the Hogwart's Battle?
I don't think I would stay. I'd be too afraid. Sure, I'd feel guilty, but I'd rather that than be dead. I'd find ways to justify it to myself as I left. There were many skilled witches and wizards already present. I would most likely be a burden rather than any help, etc.
