I always thought that the Teachers had a bedroom attached to their offices so that they could sleep in their offices . Doesn't McGonagall come to her office door in her house coat in one of the books ?

Yeah, I believe she's in her nighty and everything. :P I had just never thought about where the teachers sleep before. Maybe while I'm reading all of them, it will jump out at me if I'm looking for it.

I think in Goblet of Fire that it tells us that Snape's office is not connected to his sleeping quarters. Believe that was in 'The Egg and the Eye' chapter. Because he'd left his chambers to see what the racket was, passed by his office and found the door open. Professor Slughorn's office actually held his sleeping quarters, because Harry escorted Ron there the day he got poisoned, and Slughorn was rousted from bed.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
I think her office is on the first floor, coming in off the grounds...that's where Harry Ron, Malfoy, and Hermione got detention in Sorcerer's Stone.
It's great, Slughorn has this huge suite with a fireplace and everything, like his own house common room...

Snape may have his office next to the Potions crypt, but has sleeping quarters elsewhere/upstairs so he can get to, say, The Great Hall in a hurry should an emergency occur during the night. But again, it's just a theory of mine. ![]() |

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
Since he's head of Slytherin house I'd expect Snape's office and quarters to be in the dungeons near the Slytherin common room and dorms to be available if any of his students need him.

This one has been going on and on inside my head:
How come Harry was charged for Dobby dropping the pudding, if he still had the Trace on him, wouldn't the MoM be able to tell it wasn't him?

If this event shows us anything, it is that no, the Ministry can't tell whose magic is setting off the trace.

Has Ron ever said anything nice about Luna?

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
Yeah, Ron likes Luna, though maybe not as much as Harry does. Ron said in HBP that Luna was growing on him and in DH he was really worried about Luna after they found out that she was taken by the Death Eaters.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
I was just wondering, is Harry's grandparents (on his father's side) ever mentioned? And why does he never attempt to find them? I know that he is a descendant of the Peverell family, and that his grandfather must have owned the cloak, but otherwise I can't remember hearing of them in the books.
Does anyone know? ![]() |

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
James' parents died of old age at some point before James was killed. They had James late in life, even for a witch/wizard. We know that Sirius ran away from home at 16 and stayed at James' house so they died sometime between when James was 16 and 21.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
So, the way Snape never got the job of Defense against the Dark Arts, was that because Dumbledore did not want Snape to get hurt as he knew about the curse.. or did Dumbledore even realise that beforehand and if thats the case, why didn't Snape get the job?

However, Dumbledore also knew that the Defense Against the Dark Arts post was "cursed". Voldemort had returned to Hogwarts and asked Dumbledore for the job and was promptly turned down, and thus the curse happened. That would have been about, what, 1957 {conservatively} and carried on clear through to the 1997/98 school year? Forty years and not one teacher had lasted at that post for more than a year. That's why Snape didn't get it until that Harry's 6th year, IMO. Dumbledore knew that after Snape followed through with their agreed upon plan, he too, would no longer be around Hogwarts in a teaching capacity.

Re: Little Questions Answered v.18
I don't know if I should ask this question here or on the thread for the ABC Family Movies...When Lucius Malfoy was in Borgin and Burkes, Mr. Borgin wanted to buy something from him but Lucius said it wasn't for sale. I couldn't see what he was referring to. It couldn't have been the Slytherin Locket could it? Borgin mentioned that it had many special properties and it was worth money.

The diary makes the most sense, since shortly after that it found its way into Ginny's cauldron.
