i think that being a whitch scares petunia. She saw all of the things that Lily did outside of Hogwarts and it freaked her out. Remember in HBP they say how powerful and gifted a witch Lily was? Remember in pretty much every other book there is a reference to how incredibly powerful James was? I mean, he turned himself into an Animagus! So I think Petunia saw all of these things and she was extremely frightened. Her family was possibly also in danger b/c LV was after Lily and James and although she probably feigned to tell Vernon this, I bet she knew. I'm pretty sure she knew a whole lot more than we think she did and i think that now that DD is dead and he was corresponding to her she might realize the urgency of the situation and change her attitude. She might soften up now that she realizes that LV is back...or, since DD is gone, she won't let Harry back....let's see what happens I can't wait yrs!!!!!

I agree with Darth Voldemort in SOME ways. Petunia could have been expelled from Hogwarts. It is hard to believe that after all those years she would still remember a small thing that James said. You would think that she would have tried to forget it because she hates Lily and James so much.
But then again, when somebody gets expelled, they get their wand snapped in half so they can "essentially" not use it. But if she wanted to do magic so bad, she could have kept her wand pieces like Hagrid did. She might not have put them in an umbrella, but she could have done something else with them. And also, if she had been a witch, why was she always so frightened when an owl would come? I think that she could have been a witch that was expelled, but that is kind of a stretch. But in the wizarding world, anything can happen. |

That is a very interesting idea. I probably wouldn't have thought of it before. I doubt it is true. But, who knows? That would be a very huge twist to throw in at the end of the story... it would change a lot of things. The reason I don't think J.K. Rowling would throw that in is because in the 7th book she already has way to many things she is going to have to close and explain. I do not think she would put that in there just because it would take too much explaining and I think there is already enough mystery within the plot line.

Interesting idea. I am not sure if this would be possible but maybe she could be a squib. I can't remember how that comes about though. Just a possible idea.
