I haven't heard of goodreads before, but I am on Shelfari. Similar concept, I think.

I have an account on Goodreads, but I much prefer (or am more partial to)Shelfari. I like it that you can create your own bookshelf and show the books you own on it, with the covers you have. The bookshelves also make it easier for you to navigate through your books, the ones you read/plan to read.

I haven't explored Goodreads well enough though, as I signed up on it when I already had an account on Shelfari for a long time.

The thing I liked most about Goodreads, though, is that it has a lot of books in different languages. I could find lots of my Arabic books on it easily, while on Shelfari there were almost no books in Arabic.

I love goodreads, Im spacecadet on there as well! I like being able to read reviews and see what others are reading, and i just won an arc on there the other day!

Yes! I love creating my bookshelf. Whenever I see a book I want to read, I add it to my Plans to Read shelf so I don't forget about it. And when I finish a book, I'm all excited to add it to my Read shelf.

Yes, it so exiting to see your books displayed on the shelf, especially for someone who owns lots of ebooks, like me!

Actual shelves? I know you can categorize your books, but I don't if you can display them on an virtual shelf (like this).

Yes I use Goodreads too As far as I know, you can't display it like a shelf, like on shelfari.. But I like it nontheless!

I haven't before but I'm thinking about now. I read this review and then went to Goodreads for a recomendation. I then started reading reviews of other books I read and found it incredibly addicting and time wasting.

Anyone else finding the star rating a bit nonsensical, because you're not comparing like with like? When I gave The Da Vinci Code more stars than Mrs Dalloway, I realised I was committing an act of heresy, but how do you compare a throwaway piece of pulp fiction which you nonetheless found a thumping good read with a beautifully crafted literary masterpiece which is just not particularly to your taste?

I know what you mean. Certain books I give higher ratings because they're part of my favorite series, but that doesn't necessarily mean I think they're better than books I give lower ratings to.
