Similar problem as me. I don't have a clue what happened, but one evening I came to my computer to find nothing on my hard drive! I have reinstalled Windows and now have to reinstall all that I lost (which is hard because I had some great fonts and scripts for Gimp).

I think this week is cursedI started making my icon online and gave up and rehooked up my old computer and for some reason if I save an image in the editing language, I can not make very many changes with out saving or it will freeze on me.; which if fine as long as I don't close the image I can undo. I had a satisfactory one done and I left it for the night and was thinking about making some tweaks the next day, but my computer restarted and I could not "undo" anything.

Quick question that is hopefully answered soon Does OOTP mean Order of the Phoenix? Like it has to be a Snape moment or something from OOTP? And if so, does it have to have an actual quote from the book/movie if we so choose to put text on it, or something that would be going through Snape's head?

Vita, this is a Non HP Challenge, right? I know we switch back and forth usually, just making sure.

I love them all. I almost missed all the animation on 6. I only saw through the part about danger the first time I looked.
None of them really put Snape in that bad of a light though. I thought we might have something really evil.
I am going to make comments, but I am going to wait to vote. I have noticed that when I look at images later in the day I notice things I missed the first time.


1. So cute. It would have been more accurate if it were Fayline, but that's quibbling. My only problem is that you can't tell that it is about Snape.

2. This is right to the point, we know immediately who it is about. The background looks like it could be a tombstone or it could be a piece of parchment. It really emphasized the text though.

3. Excellent coloring, you know it is about Good Snape.

4. Snape selling his services. Can't tell it is about Bad Snape until you read the services, but then it is only too obvious. A great idea and icon.

5. I really like the way that it is tilted slightly, the background and the text (you could change the whole meaning just by adding a question mark.) A well thought out and executed icon.

6. He's a Dancer. Great animation, maybe a bit too fast.

7. Evil Snape telling Bella were to get off. The blurring really puts the emphasis on his face.

8.Always. Must be good Snape. Overall pretty good, but I wish the blurring was under the "s" and maybe the ear was more blurred. It is a bit distracting.

9. The empty space does give a feeling of emptiness and you know it is about Snape, but there is enough room that I would have kind of liked to have seen Professor Snape, maybe in a black chiseled so it did not take away from the feel.
Edit: After Joshee mentioned it I did see Snape. It is so dark it is hard to see though. I went to get something to clean my screen because I thought that was why I couldn't see it and when I cam back I saw it because I wasn't so close.

10. Potter Puppet Pals! Very cute, even though it is Evil Snape. Snape, Snape, Snape. Great choice of font.

11. Another Puppet Pals Good Severus has reached to point where there is no going back. Love the Slytherin Green, it makes it look like the glow from the dark mark and the puppet theater was a great choice for a border.

12. Looks like the same picture as in 8. Probably Evil Snape for this on though. I love the idea of the steam from the potion. It obscures part of his face but it also makes it lighter. I think it would have been more effective if it were obscuring more of his face.
Edit: My opinion of the steam has changed. I think it works well when you look at it from a distance. It looks like the face is materializing from the fog and looks more substantial on the right side. I can't believe I did not understand this when I first saw it. The face is translucent and you can see the smoke through the face. Great job.

1. Cute, and I suppose this is a Good Snape one, but it's not the most obvious in the world. Is Bambi calling the butterfly his patronus? The background is hilarious!

2. Good Snape. I like the font, the emphasis on "bravest man", the aged look of the book or whatever in the back.

3. The epitaph is a little hard to read, but that might just be me. Very interesting composition. It's sort of flat, though.

5. Very nice, but the font is run together a bit too much. Maybe dropping the size one or two points would space the words better.

6. Funny! A dancer... someone watched too much Saturday Night Live back in the day. Maybe the transitions between the slides could have been edited, or slowed down just a hair.

7. Can't tell if this is Good Snape or Bad Snape. It's sort of arbitrary -- it can be taken both ways. I like the slight fogginess at the bottom, it's almost like Bellatrix is breathing a poisonous fog out...

8. This is okay, but I'd have put the text and the glow lower. It looks a little odd coming out of Sev's right ear and cheekbone...

9. It's probably just my monitor, but Snape is almost lost in the background. I think I'd have brought his image a little more into the light. It just looks like Harry down there and the quote, but no reason for it.

2. I thought this was a good icon overall, but slightly simple. I enjoyed the brown color gradient that resembled paper. Maybe the "bravest man" text could have a very thin black outline. It might be too much though.

10. Another amusing icon and I liked the drop shadow. I thought it was a bit too simplistic though I know the cartoon that this graphic came from, but the music notes seemed odd to me.

11. I didn't think there was enough contrast between the red background and the background of the astronomy tower text. Irregular edges of the frame can work quite well, but the inconsistency here bothered me as the irregularity wasn't fluid.
