I think that we have to assume that they think they have a trailer out meaning the both parts trailer. I don't think that they think that they have nothing out now like we do so i don't think that has any bearing on whether or not new stuff would be released on a commercial.

Well, keep in mind the audience for the HP "Family" showings, too. These are people who already are watching Harry Potter and who do not have to be "sold" on it: all they need to do is remind them of when the next installment is coming. They probably are a very reliable portion of the audience, but only a small portion: the ratings for these things are very small compared to (say) the first week attendance for HP films (which is well over 20M people!).

The more "casual" movie-viewing audience might need a stronger reminder than this, but given how resilient HP audiences have been (95% returns have been the norm since Goblet), they clearly do not need too much there, either. Indeed, given that we now learn so much about what is playing when from non-studio sources (a huge fraction of tickets now are sold online, and that always is screaming what's playing when and where), it will be pretty tough for them to miss learning that the film is out.

And I forgot how much Behind the scenes of Deathly Hallows Part 2 was shown. Did we figure out what gate that was at 1:50?

I thought it was a gate in Hogsmeade, but now I am not so sure. What did that gate that Luna and Harry walk through in HBP look like? Any resemblence?

ETA: Nevermind, it is the Hogsmeade gate. The snow is a dead giveaway, cause it the only place where there will be snow in the movie.
Does it bother anybody that it is snowing at Hogsmeade but not at Hogwarts? I would love a lay out of the castle.

It was discussed a few pages back that Hogsmead is at an elevation above the snow line. Besides with dementors swarming Hogsmead the temperature there will be ice cold.

I forgot how good of a featurette The Story is. Thanks for bringing it out again. There is a lot of great shots in that. I love the shots of the trio running across the entrance courtyard.

Plus they get millions of dollars in free advertising from news shows which treat the release of the trailer as a worthy story and the coverage of the premieres.

Does anyone remember that report where someone said that they made a smaller version of a body to carry and everyone thought it was a smaller version of Harry for Hagrid to carry? If you know what i am talking about at all does anyone have a link to that?

All I can say is...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!

I've been stalking these forums and mugglenet for weeks trying to figure out when the trailer, or ANYTHING, was coming out, and finally we have some information! Can't wait for this weekend!

"Laying on a table in front of them are a couple of corpses from the new film, corpses whose identities will remain secret for now. One is normal size and one is smaller, so that it can be held by Hagrid and make Robbie Coltrane look much bigger."

Sounds like its most likely Harry pretending to be dead.

‘And now – piertotum locomotor!’ cried Professor McGonagall. And all along the corridor the statues and suits of armour jumped down from their plinths, and from the echoing crashes from the floors above and below, Harry knew that their fellows throughout the castle had done the same.
‘Hogwarts is threatened!’ shouted Professor McGonagall. ‘Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!’
Clattering and yelling, the horde of moving statues stampeded past Harry: some of them smaller, others larger than life. There were animals too, and the clanking suits of armour brandished swords and spiked balls on chains.

Thanks puff003. I didn't actually remember that it mentioned Hagrid. It most likely has to be Harry though because they say corpse it makes you wonder if Hagrid doesn't just carry someone else when they are moving the bodies.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but since the report says: "corpses whose identities will remain secret for now", then it can't be some random students' corpses.

So glad we finally have a confirmation of some new footage just hope it gets online for those of us without access to ABC family. Was expecting a trailer announcement first before footage, even Mugglenet made a post purely speculating on when the trailer would be after Red Riding Hood didn't bring anything. Not complaining though!

I was just watching The Story featurette, and I noticed that Snape looks down, and I really think he noticed the trio.

^ It looks like he's still in the boathouse. It would be interesting if he does sense that the trio is there, although it could simply be that he's caught on to what Voldemort is doing and catches Nagini from the corner of his eye.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Two [incl. SPOILERS] v.2

Update from the ABC website on the content of the Part II footage:

Quote:
"ABC Family will also be airing exclusive sneak peeks at some of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” most exciting moments, including Harry & Draco’s fight in the Room of Requirement, the hair-raising dragon sequences and the final courtyard battle between good and evil. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” opens in theaters on July 15, 2011."
So, it will be showing off the money shots, including the flight of the dragon and the final duel.

EDIT:

According to Snitchseeker, it's a full statement from ABC. Here it is in its entirety...

Quote:
"Faithful Potter fans will also be given a chance to go behind-the scenes with never-before-seen interview footage from the cast and filmmakers which give insights on key scenes from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 & 2,” as well as revisiting important moments from the previous films to prepare for the final battle that takes place in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.” The never-before-seen footage that will be airing throughout the weekend includes a look back at Harry and Ginny’s relationship, director David Yates’ take on Harry and Hermione’s relationship, the origins of The Marauder’s Map and a look into the very last shot of principal photography of the film franchise with producer David Barron.

ABC Family will also be airing exclusive sneak peeks at some of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2,” most exciting moments, including Harry & Draco’s fight in the Room of Requirement, the hair-raising dragon sequences and the final courtyard battle between good and evil. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” opens in theaters on July 15, 2011."

Harry and Ginny, Harry and Hermione.... but not Harry and Ron? No Ron and Hermione? Why does something stink like a rotten fish?
