Think I figured out how Neville gets the Sorting Hat...

Okay, so we know there are a bunch of explosions in the castle. Well, it isn't far-fetched to say the Sorting Hat gets blown through the debris.

So, while Neville is looking for dead and injured bodies, he finds the Sorting Hat on the ground with a bunch of dust and debris.

Oh well, finders keepers.

He could probably get a lot for it on ebay.

I think it has to as Emma has said that there were quite a few comedic moments with Ron and Hermione in the chamber. We also know that Ron and Hermione kiss in the chamber and i can't see Ron being in the kissing mood that soon after his brother died.

Definitely. It is obvious this is what they are doing.

Cause that courtyard is where the bridge is.

I'm just assuming that Neville and Ginny are out there in the courtyard first because they were the last 2 people Harry encountered while on his way out of the castle, just like in the book.

I wonder if he'll still use the invisibility cloak to sneak out?

Probably not: that works fine in the book where we can always read "Harry" but on screen, having no Dan Radcliffe is like reading the book with the word "Harry" (and all descriptions of what he is doing) deleted.

The one way around that is to have the camera from Harry's POV "through" the cloak (which they did in Stone fairly well).

However, at some point, Harry has to actually tell someone what he's thinking. This really is the climax of the story, after all, even if it does precede the climax of the plot. The audience cannot read minds and there is no "I'm about to go sacrifice myself for the Greater Good" facial expression.

(No, really, there isn't: and you just look constipated with that expression; you, on the other hand, look like you are about to barf. So, stop it, all of you! )

Seeing Snape at Godrics Hollow so soon is more than I possibly could have hoped for, even though we have known about the house being rebuilt "around Alan Rickman's availability" for months now. I've been thinking that his speech to the students could be used effectively as atmospheric voiceover at the beginning of Part II's eventual trailer without showing Harry's arrival.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part Two [incl. SPOILERS] v.2

Okay, so after discussing this with Bscorp today, I think we've figured out that the part of Godric's Hollow that the set designer's rebuilt for Alan Rickman has to be the interior of GH and that Snape must enter the house at some point in his memories.

Here's what the set designer said months ago:

Quote:
Stuart Craig (set designer): We do look through the books all the time. And very recently looked at Godric's Hollow again and looked at what the book had to say, look at what Jo Rowling had to say about the state of the Potter house in Godric's Hollow. We'd built it for the first film, we built it once again for the seventh film, then had to rebuild a bit-- to do with Alan Rickman's availability and so on-- there was a continuity issue there and we refer to the book. But, it is typical; we do all the time. It is so specific and precise. Everything is grounded in the book, I think. I know the scale is sometimes increased enormously; there are lots and lots of omissions because there have to be. You're making a movie out of a novel, certainly, a very long novel. But, nonetheless, I think everything is grounded in the book in the spirit of it, at least, if not in the letter of it and the reference is constant.
http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/20...llows-part-one

Okay, so the set designer said they built GH three times: once for SS, once for DH-1 (Harry's "vision" - I believe in movie one he sees James/Lily dead), and once for DH-2 (Snape's memory).

For SS, they used the exterior of a different existing house, but filmed Lily's death scene using an interior set. That's the first time they built it. In DH 1-2 they used a different real building (Lavenham Guild Hall) and the exterior is added to the movie with CGI, so what we saw last night was Alan Rickman in front of a green screen to which they later added a picture of the house with the shattered roof.

Snitchseeker reported during filming that shots were taken last year of the Guild Hall in Lavenham and no actors were filmed in front of it. So nothing was never "built" by set designers, while the interior as shown in Movie One during Lily's death scene was, and during Harry's "vision" in DH-1, must have been built.
Quote:
Although none of the cast was present for the filming, the characters of Harry Potter and Hermione Granger will be added through computer wizardry – meaning film fans will actually see the Warner Bros blockbuster's main protagonists appearing in Lavenham's streets.
Jane Gosling, manager of the National Trust-run Lavenham Guildhall, talked about the filming, which will feature Lily and James Potter's home in Godric's Hollow.

"It was all very exciting. What the film-makers are going to do is turn parts of Lavenham into Godric's Hollow (a village featured in the book and film series) and the Guildhall will be Harry Potter's parents' house.

"It is all very clever. They filmed parts of Lavenham and will edit out any modern houses and bits they don't want digitally."

I do hope they use his speech. Snape's voice can be very ominous. It would sound great over a trailer.

The shot of Harry by Dobby's grave is from the day the trio go to Gringotts. That is not the same day that they arrive at Shell Cottage. Also you can notice that Luna is in the shot. She is behind the camera. She walks up to Harry while he is looking at Dobby's grave and speaks to him before she disapparates.

I have no idea what that scene is, and even who it is. I'm sure it'll be explained fine in the film

Here's an HQ screencap of the scene:

Voldemort in Hogsmeade?:

It looks more like a regular Death Eater to me, unless there's an added scene in Hogsmeade before Voldemort reaches Hogwarts. Perhaps a DE is reacting to the "blur" of a Patronus going by, now off-screen, that Aberforth later identifies as his own to save the trio?

Yeah, I don't think that's Voldemort I think it's a DE with really short hair. he's either getting hexed or reacting to something.

I think it might be the Death Eater that we see next to the one who stopped the train in the pic of them in Gringotts.

‘And now – piertotum locomotor!’ cried Professor McGonagall. And all along the corridor the statues and suits of armour jumped down from their plinths, and from the echoing crashes from the floors above and below, Harry knew that their fellows throughout the castle had done the same.
‘Hogwarts is threatened!’ shouted Professor McGonagall. ‘Man the boundaries, protect us, do your duty to our school!’
Clattering and yelling, the horde of moving statues stampeded past Harry: some of them smaller, others larger than life. There were animals too, and the clanking suits of armour brandished swords and spiked balls on chains.
