The 48 hour period is almost up, isn't it?

I just posted something about the owls gathering on tumblr, and I got a load of butthurt anons demanding I explain myself, it was terrible.

I think it will go in the order of the day registered. I think it is fair, because everyone who got in will get a chance eventually. I just think that that's probably a logical way of doing it, and it makes sense and keeps things simple. Everyone still gets an equal opportunity, because I doubt they'd purposely make someone wait until the 29th of September to get in.

The 48-hour time window for the validation email will expire in exactly 22 minutes according to my computer's clock.

Nobody knows when in October the site will be open to the general public, do they? I always assumed that it would open on the 1st, but it's never been specifically stated.

Cool! So maybe not too much longer for the first owl, depending on whether they want to send it out at almost two AM BST. ;-)

If they're going by the 48-hour expiration of the validation emails before they start sending out welcome emails, then yes.

It has TONS of good information; whether you know some of it or not. Look under the post "What Will Pottermore Know?" and find a comment by a Roxanne, who posts a link to a YouTube video. It's of the Pottermore press conference. Watch the whole video, it shows a reporter being sorted and several other things. Really neat!

@ Patronus: :3 I meant that almost everyone assumed the emails would come today, but a few people thought correctly (most likely anyway) that emails couldn't arrive until after the final validation period. Maybe the emails will begin to arrive tomorrow morning BST.

All I have to say is that, no one asked anyone to stay up all night, they told us in advance that you would have 7 days aka 7 chances to register, and they would all be at different times.

Hence, it's not b/c some ppl stayed up all night for the fist night they should be allowed in first (ps I registered the first).

Also, we are ALL in ONE pool of beta testers, nothing more, nothing less, they'll let us in in whatever way they want to test it.

And one final note, we are beta TESTERS, not users and certainly NOT vip's. You shouldn't be asking for a privileged treatement (even though early acces feels like a privilege for us potterheads). They do not owe us anything, they did not ask us to stay up all night and they were just opening registration for TESTERS in a little fun and quirky way to get enough testers in.

We're not vip's, seriously, and the day you registered doesn't mean anything either....

Not trying to be a downer, but isn't 48 hours from when the email is recieved, not 48 after registration closes? If it is still taking a couple of hours to get emails, we might be here a while :/

I believe it'll be 48 hours after the registration ENDED. I was told on the 7th day it was open from approx. 2am to 4am BST. Am I right? If so, then the 48-hour window should end in a few hours, not ~20 minutes

the reward for registering is access as tester, thats a pretty huge reward :-)

I just thought of something. Even if the registration period ended at 2 am BST, maybe some emails didn't arrive until like an hour later? So wouldn't the validation period end 48 hours after the email was received? I dunno know, just a guess.

They will do this however they feel fit. This is a beta, not an "early release" the purpose of this access is to test the features of the site, and while it does intrigue everyone here (of course) arguing over who's first in line is futile, considering they already have some idea of how they will do it.

I don't know if the will do a first-in-first-out (yes I made an accounting joke for anyone who got it ) way of day registration to beta access. It shouldn't be that big of a deal, everyone who ended up "approved" and registered will eventually get access. gotta relax, it looks intersting, but nothing to fight over

Now, I want to say that your theory is highly unlikely. Everything points to that the emails won't be sent just randomly, IMO. But of course you can think whatever you want, we're just trying to persuade you that you're wrong.

I'm just waiting for some accurate information from the Insider blog, to be complete honest. All of these speculations and rumors are kind of starting to become overwhelming and getting my hopes up.

(I think this discussion is getting out of hand. Can we change the subject, please? I really don't want anyone getting in trouble over something silly...)

Who do you guys think the witch/wizard is in the background of when you log in? I think it's Dumbledore or McGonagall. And which house is Number 4?
