Ripper's Sorting Request
1. If you could spend a day with any Harry Potter character who would you choose and why?
I would choose Albus Dumbledore. What better opportunity than to spend a day with the greatest Wizard of all. I would hope to pick up some useful points and methods for study, some original insights into the magical world, observe the working day of an important, busy and respected person and also hope to make a favourable impression. 2. Which Deathly Hallow would you choose? I would choose the Invisibility Cloak. I like the idea of being able to avoid trouble but I like more the idea of accessing the hidden depths of Hogwarts, and even the world beyond, without trace. This would free one to explore, observe, learn and implement ones own ideas and theories. 3. Which magical pet would you bring with you to Hogwarts? I would choose an Owl. I'm sure that reptiles and amphibians are a fascinating field of study but only in an abstract sense. I share Hagrid's allergy to cat fur so that, combined with the general usefulness and beauty of owls, would sway me to shop at Eeylops Owl Emporium. I believe I would choose an Owl native to the British Isles to allow it to be quite unobtrusive. 4. What would be your favorite subject at Hogwarts? I believe I would take to any subject worthy of serious study but I am particularly intrigued by Potions. Much can be achieved by careful study of the effects of ingredients, their interaction with each other and the various methods of brewing and distilling them. 5. If you could ask J.K. Rowling to write one thing what would it be? I would be intrigued to read the early story of the founding of The Order Of The Phoenix. I would like this to include a potted biography of many of the characters whose influence carries on to a younger generation. By doing this we would be able to discover how Harry Potter came to be without parents or grandparents: A very rare circumstance. 6. Would you play Quidditch? If so which position? I believe I would try-out for either Keeper or Beater. I am both tall and heavy and feel that those would be my most suitable positions. However, I am more of an armchair fan and would not be heartbroken not to be picked for the team. If there were a B-grade or reserves team I would willingly take my place as an aide to fulfilling the maxim, "A Healthy Mind In A Healthy Body". 7. Which magical career would you choose? I feel that there is an unexplored market for ready-made potions, tinctures and brews of all types. In the same way that the Weasley twins opened a shop that sold some simple devices that any witch or wizard could probably knock up themselves I would aim at promoting the time-saving element involved in pre-packaged goods. I would also, again like the Weasleys, aim to develop my own secret and innovative products. I feel the Magical world is ready for safe to use, enjoyable, stimulating and efficacious possets and boluses. 8. What would your patronus be? As a proud Australian I would hope it would be one of our more interesting and lively fauna. A Kangaroo or Wallaby would be ideal. 9. Which magical place would you most like to visit? Although I am now Australian I was born in Devon, UK. Therefore I should like to visit Godric's Hollow in that beautiful county. One could meet up with fellow Wizards and Witches as well as rub along with those funny little Muggle chaps for light relief. There are a couple of bigger cities nearby but mainly it's picturesque, coastal and with a mild climate. I would, of course, aim to have premises in all the main Magical centres to sell my wares. 10. Pick one house you would prefer not to be in. (Optional) I would hope to get along in any house but I have to say I find some of those Gryffindors pretty hard going what with their noisy, impetuous, boisterous behaviour. I believe the Muggles would, in the main, consider them "Jocks". However, many of them are indeed great fun. (Perhaps this makes them "Jock-ular"! No? Ok, I'll head off to the dungeon to punish myself for that one!) In short Gryffindors are just not quite my cup of tea. Last edited by Ripper; August 8th, 2012 at 4:52 pm. Re: Ripper's Sorting Request
Slytherin.
![]() At first I thought Ravenclaw, as you do not hold contempt for your muggle counterparts, and seem to have compassion - traits not immediately associated with Slytherin. However, I think you would give much to the house. Your approach to learning and the exploitation of undiscovered markets are ambitious and even slightly cunning. So although others may state Ravenclaw, I think the communal aspect of sorting would fare you, and the entirety of the house well in Slytherin. ![]()

Re: Ripper's Sorting Request
I'm seeing Slytherin and Ravenclaw, but I think the way you answered your questions makes you more Ravenclaw, so I say Ravenclaw.
