I don't think Tonks is related to Lupin. She is related to Sirius and there was never any mention (that I can recall, at least) that Lupin and Sirius were related....There is a generation gap in their ages, but that doesn't bother me as much as the lack of evidence for them having any kind of romantic interest in one another.

There is no evidence of any romantic interaction between Remus and Tonks, I can't understand why people think they're a couple.
As for Percy and Penelope, we haven't heard from the female side of that couple in a while, are we sure they're still going out?

I just had an Idea what if the dursleys had another baby and then wanted to get rid of Harry a while when it was born and then the baby might end up bveing a withch or wizard since Lilly was and so do you think it would be treated like Harry or like Dudley?

Mount Holly, North Carolina, USA--home to American & Efird, thread manufacturers (supposedly the largest thread producer in the US, but no confirmation of that from me! I am a transplant from South Dakota, USA, and obviously need to delve a bit deeper into the history of the area!). I'm not even sure what threads they make (the kind for sewing or the kind for making fabrics?). This area was quite rife with textile mills after the Civil War, and there is also a Clariant plant that makes dyes (and who knows what else) that straddles the Catawba River (so part of it is in Mount Holly and the other part in Charlotte). I don't think Harry is coming here when he leaves the Dursleys, such a pity! I seriously doubt they spin demiguise fur into invisibility cloaks at any of the mills still operating here....Lol!

JKR said that Harry would only stay at the Dursley's will stay at for a very short time, she also said that he would leave for a much more pleasent reason than Book 5. So I think that he probably might have a better summer than before. The Dursleys might be sort of nice to him, and Petunia will probably tell whatever secrets she holds. And after Harry rescued Dudley, Dudley might be a bit kinder, if that's possible for him of course. Also, the Order said that that'd be checking in and if they didn't hear from him in 2 or 3 days they'd send someone... So, I think he'll leave for a good reason, almost like the Quiddich Cup in Book 4. I think someone from the Order, probably Lupin will pick him up and have an interesting conversation with the Dursley's. That's not that exciting, but it might be true, I don't know.

I just had a thought about this after taking about Fred and George. Remember Harry gave Fred and George enough money to start a business in making jokes. With Harry's help Fred and George left school early and set up the joke shop in Diagon Ally. What are Fred and George decide to give Harry a job over the summer, working in the joke shop he helped them acquire. To work with Fred and George in there joke shop would be immense fun indeed and we would get to see the joke shop in the first or second chapter.

ooh- I think that the joke shop idea sounds like fun. And we know that Harry has said something about them needing more laughs now that Voldemort is back.
But my feeling is that he will spend the summer with the Weasleys and Hermione, having fun, telling them about the prophecy, and greiving for Sirius. He definitly wont be able to do that with the Dursleys.
I remember at the end of OotP Moody told the Dursleys that if they didnt hear from Harry every 3 days, they would come check on him. Well, cant we all see a bitter, angry Harry purposely do that just to make his aunt and uncle uncomfortable/embarrased?? You know, just to have a little fun?? That is how I think he will leave. Harry is in need of a restful, greiving period, to help him prepare to face his destiny.(how melodramatic did that sound?? )

I really like the joke shop idea!

Another possibility is that Harry has never had a birthday party. We are up to sweet sixteen right? Each book starts with Harry's birthday so there is supporting evidence for this also.

Oh, never thought of that, that's a good idea!

The only thing I can think of is that the Potters were all killed by Voldemort and the DEs - maybe while Voldemort was trying to find out where they were hiding, or maybe just in the general war.

The birthday party and wedding ideas are nice - only probalem is that apart from Bill and Fluer none of the others seem to be romantically involved ( oh, and Percy an Penelope, forgot them...is Percy still going out with Penelope, and would he invite any of his estranged family to the wedding?).

Joke shop idea's cool - maybe Harry and Ron could both work there, since Ron needs money more than Harry anyway.

After I posted my last response, I read in a JKR interview that Harry's grandparents on the Potter side are dead, so that idea is out.

Not only that but Petunia is the last of Lily's bloodline according to Dumbledore so his other family is gone.

I think it might be a bit more pleasent the Order did impress upon Uncle Veron that he should be nicer to Harry at the end of OotP. Of course, that could have made things worse for him too.

JKR did say he will be there for a short while (he has to go back every summer so that's a given). I think some of the Order will come and get him and take him to Grimmauld Place.

That makes sense, but I think Harry will need a lot of time to get over Sirius's death before he moves in to his old house.

That would be so exciting! Harry really deserves a birthday party, but this is supposedly going to be his shortest stay at Privet Drive yet. The Order would have to take him a while before his birthday, because we've seen him at Privet Drive on his birthday before.

That would seem somewhat depressing to me. Not to mention it's filled with stuff collected over be unihabited for many years. And is Kreacher still there? I don't think that Harry could live there on his own yet, though. Maybe in Book 7 once he's 17 and of age.

I don't know if this is mentioned yet, (I haven't had time to read all 14 pages in the thread ;-) ) but I was rereading OotP the other day and it occurred to me that the short stay at Privet Drive may be related to the O.W.L.'s results. Possibly Harry gets his results and leaves to party with his friends. (Ha) I don't know, just wondering.

I'm really hoping he finally has a birthday party! It's well deserved after 16 years! I doubt they'll take him back to Grimmauld place. For heaven's sake the place is meant to sound like "grim, old place" -- I doubt JKR would make Harry go there when she said he would be leaving early for a much more pleasant reason! Especially if it would only remind him of Sirius...
