Someone said that JKRowling had said that Hermiones parents didn't appear very often in the books and made it sound like they made no significant appearance so that would make me think Harry isn't going to stay at their house. I think Harry, Ron and Hermione will be staying in the same place but that place could be a number of locations. For example the weasleys, Spinners end, Grimauld Place (which I believe is still safe and an ideal location for the order but maybe not so ideal at the moment for Harry), is Godrics Holow an option? Hogwarts? Diagon Alley?

Hermione's parents....never thought of that one, but it would be neat. I am still a big believer that Harry will be leaving to for a celebration of his birthday. Think about it, he has never had your typical birthday party and I think it would be an excellent idea if the Order threw him one, especially with what has just happened to him at the end of Ootp. Harry will need some cheering up and need to be with people who care about him.

This would also be an excellent opportunity for him to be with people who love him and can cheer him up. If he were stuck in Privet Drive all summer, he would be laying in his room thinking about the loss of Sirius and the details of the prophecy. Both of these thoughts could drive Harry mad and leave him emotionally distable.

It would also put Harry with someone he loves and cares about to work on his grief regarding Sirius.
I like this idea. Remus is the only one who was as close to Sirius as Harry and can understand his loss. I like the idea of them working together to relieve each others pain.

I've been hoping for this too. They both need to work over their grief for Sirius, and Harry really needs to be around someone who can both be his teacher and his friend. Remus has always made it clear that he values Harry's opinions, but he doesn't try to push or impose himself on the boy.

Thanks Wooden.
Some are saying that Spinners End will be the new home of the Order, but I am not sure where they are getting that information. Even if it is, it could still be Remus' home. If I am right, it will make for some great storytelling and background info.
And you are right, those two need to work on their grief over Sirius. They both loved him and have lost an important person. JKR has said that the reason he leaves Privet Drive is more pleasant....a visit to Remus would be more pleasant. Time spent with one of the adults that Harry loves and has a connection to some of the most important people in his life would be pleasant. Not all of it would be happy though, but overall, I think it would be a lovely way for him to spend the last month of his time before heading back to Hogwarts.

I just had a thought, that maybe Harry will go for some additional training in potions. Now I know that this is not a truely pleasent reason, but it is better than going to be on trial at the MOM. The idea comes from McGonagall stating that she will do whatever it takes to get Harry into Auror's training after his NEWTS. Its possible Harry did not get an O in potions, and thus will need some more study in order to retake the OWL (if thats possible, but I don't see why not.) Now McGonagall will summon Harry to her summer home for some special potions training in preparation for the retake. The reason Harry will go to her home is that McGonagall's husband is a promenent potions master and is in fact the Author of Advanced Potion-Making as featured on the UK Adult HBP cover. This will fullfill several things that JKR has said will be happening. First, we will learn more about the professors home life. Second it will tell us that some of the teachers are married. Third, it will be a clue that was shown in the movies (the book can be seen on McGonagall's desk in one of the Movies). There will also be the link to the HBP as I suspect that Libarius Borage is the HBP. The supporting evidence for this is that all previous UK adult covers directly relate to the title. This whole senario will allow a lot of back story and history to be told and also give Harry a change of venue to take his mind off of Sirius death.

J.K. says that Harry will leave early, but I think it will be after he talks to Aunt Petunia about Voldemort and about the Letters under the creaky stairs. Then I think Dumbledore will get Harry and Harry will find out alot about his past and maybe learn to defend himself better against VOldemort . Continus Occulumency with Dubl;edore and help teach DADA with Moody to the students who are far behind, in case there is an attach against the school.

Not sure if this was said already, I'm a bit too lazy to read through everything written so far. But it is my theory that Harry leaves Pivet Drive early to visit Fred & George's joke shop. That seem a stable enough idea to me, its pleasant, and it is a reason the Weasleys would whisk Harry away early.

I never really thought about Harry going to live with Lupin, but that would be wonderful. As you guys have mentioned it would be a great way for both of them to grieve for Sirius and to help each other get over their loss. If i remember right, didnt JKR say we would learn more about Sirius and his and Snape's loathing for each other? If Harry were to live with Lupin, he might be able to explain to Harry more about not only Sirius' past, but all the maruders. That would be a pleasant reason to leave Privet now wouldnt it.

Yes, and that would cover learning all the promised things about James and Lily too

Wow Mercer, I had no idea. how did you notice the book? Does it actually say his name or something? I suppose he could be going for some potions training but I think McGonnagal just said that because of Umbridge and she is no longer at large. I'm not sure how potions would be imminently important with Voldemort returned either. But it is a possibility (just like I keep saying he will get more training so he can defend himself properly).

I do like the idea that he will stay with Lupin also. He (and we) could gain a lot from that.

A visit to Fred and Georges joke shop would be amusing also!

Happy Days

From what I have heard from here and JKR's website this time Harry will be leaving in a happier manner this time. I think that it will have something to do with someone from The Order taking him out of the Dursley's early, or he also could be going to stay with Ron's family again

Harry will leave Privet Drive early again, for a "much pleasanter" reason than in book 5.
These are the words from JKR herself. I've been nursing the idea that perhaps Harry attends the official "Grand Opening" of Fred and George's joke shop, and so gets to leave Privet Drive for that pleasant reason. But I couldn't figure out what would keep him away until I saw xray's suggestion:

To do this he'll take out a room in the Leaky Cauldron for the summer or stay at 12GP and commute daily to number 93, Diagon Alley.
I've only got two reservation's about the idea--would it be safe for Harry to be outside Privet Drive or Hogwarts, now that the wizarding world is at war? Whoever above suggested a wedding for Fleur and Bill also had a nice, creative idea, but it doesn't keep Harry away and safe for the rest of the summer either.

Second reservation: Does Harry really need the money? (On the other hand, F&G did say business was booming). Besides these reservations, a summer job with the twins is still a fun idea....

But the shop is already open and doing spectacularly, enough for Fred and George to be able to afford expensive suits by books end. I'd say Harry missed the grand opening, sorry.

Harry could have missed the opening but both him and Ron could be working there to earn money for themselves (I think Harry would like to feel that he deserves some of the money he has and it won't last forever...). The burrow seems like a safe enough place to be or somewhere where the order will frequently be (not sure he'll stay at 12 GP though, where was sirius's old house that he mentioned he bought whilst at school or just after to get away from his family?)

In book2, the Weasley boys drove him out; book3, he ran away from Privet and escaped on a Knight bus; book4, Weasleys came and got him; book5, he was taken to Gp12 by Order members. Do you think he will be picked up again or something terrible will happen that will make Harry leave. Some people have said there might be an attack on the Granger family that will make Harry want to go help them. I seriously doubt this, but if something like this DID happen, I figure it would be a trap by Voldemort to lure Harry to him.
i think that he will go to the grangers house for something because it is the only place he hasnt been to yet

I don't think DD will mention danger to Harry's aunt and uncle because:

1. He doesn't want to panic them into thinking Harry staying with them means they are in danger and hence they don't want him to stay with them anymore.

2. DD said that Harry had to stay with them FOR his protection since Pertunia had Lily's blood running through her and this helped reinforce the sheild that Lily gave Harry when she gave her life to protect him.
