Re: Final Fantasy

Possibly, but it depends on what bit it was originally.

Re: Final Fantasy

I think a remake of FF VII would be good, but very strange. It was the very first game I ever played, so in a way it's special to me! So to see it revamped would be interesting indeed. If VO's were provided, I'd hope Cait Sith gets to keep his Scottish accent! That was great in Advent Children.

The only thing I'd like in a remake (though, thanks to AC it's impossible) would be the option to revive Aeris. There are lots of hints through the game that it's possible, and lots of plot holes (for example, in the City of the Ancient there is a cave with a vine leading down from it, but it is unclimbable. The way it is set out is exactly the same to everything else you can climb in the game). The interesting thing about that is because it is in the place where Aeris died, so it could lead to a ressurection process. There are lots of rumours saying Squaresoft began making a way to revive her, but then stopped because they ran out of time. I believe they debunked this, but there's simply too many hints in the game to say they didn't at least try to make Aeris revivable.

(Or Aerith, depending on where you live )

Re: Final Fantasy

I think it would cheapen the story for me if Aerith could be revived.
But I can give a link to a video that shows the developments/what it is looking like so far. The video is already a little old, but they're supposed to be working on it.

Hate to burst you're bubble, but that was just to show the power of the Play Station 3 at E3. They did the same with Final Fantasy VIII for the PS2 and it never got a remake. Still, it's a good looking video, and it would be great to see the classic remade in that way, but I'm not getting my hopes up for it to happen.

As for Aeris cheapening the game, possibly...I'd like it as an option to revive her or not. Not having it vital to the gameplay would satisfy me but alienate just about everyone else

Re: Final Fantasy

It's not possible. I mean, just think about it for a minute. If Aeries was revived, then think how much of the storyline would be changed, especially the ending but with the lifestream. So no, i don't think Squaresoft were ever going to change their minds. I mean, the script was the first thing done and completed, even before the FMV's were done.

Re: Final Fantasy

Yeah...I think I would like the Aeris revival in the original game, other than adding it to a possible remake. I mean, Advent Children showed us she's at peace with Zack anyway and she helped out curing Geostigma and in the fight against Bahamut. She saved the planet from Meteor, too, so it's almost like she's still there.

*shrugs* I just loved her as a character and thought that discs 2 and 3 just weren't the same without her in your party.

as much as it would be nice (), the creaters obviously had the game story in mind

Re: Final Fantasy

Well, due to resultant interviews with Square, most people think it is not a matter of if they will remake VII, but when. Sorry, guess I should have made that clearer. The video was for a demo, but the responses to it are what has been prompting a little bit of tight-lippedness from SquareEnix's reps.

I've been playing FFIII for the DS (I guess it's the original III), and I'm not sure how keen on it I am. Right now I'm trying to get strong enough to beat this one monster you can find underwater in a sort of random cave. But I'm still nowhere near strong enough!

Re: Final Fantasy

First off, I'm going to admit to have never played the FVII compliation. All I've done is play the original and watch AC. However, from what I've gleaned from other sites, Last Order and Crisis Core changed the FVII canon a bit. I worry that the remake (I agree that its going to be when not if) will once again change the story.

I just have a feeling that they'll tone it down a bit in order to appeal to a broader market. Now, I love FFX, but it was very vanilla in comparison to VII.

I'm curious

Re: Final Fantasy

I really, really don't think that they're going to re-make VII. I'd rather they make new stories then expand on a story that they hadn't touched for 7-8 years (when Before Crisis came out).

Re: Final Fantasy

I've played every single Final Fantasy game except 11, and I have to say that 8 is my favourite, closely followed by 7.

I have managed to get Aeris back into my party but only by use of an Action Replay Equilizer. Still she has some unique dialogue after I bought her back.

Re: Final Fantasy

Aren't you clever.

I got XII yesterday, and i'm finding it very good, but Vaan is just sooo annoying, even more so then Tidus, but at least he had some kind of reason.

Re: Final Fantasy

I liked XII, but my favorite was X. I wish they would stay away from the futuristic themes that are apparent in the previews of XIII, and go back to the natural settings present in X, like the beaches and such. X had such a great story, it may never be topped.

In fairness, I did not play VII in its prime. I bought it recently and played it on PS3, so the graphics were terrible and the story seemed predictable. I am sure it was a great game when it came out, but it seemed very outdated and honestly not that much fun. Given that, X is my favorite.

Re: Final Fantasy

I so wish i could swear on these boards - lucky you, owning a PS3.

I did find it a little boring to play, and Sephiroth was a woss. I mean, getting your mum to do your killing and fighting for you is just plain laziness.

I traded in FF XII...the only FF game i've gotten rid of, I couldnt stand it, the plot, the characters, none of it stood out for me. I hope that they go back to the old ATB battle system as used in the earlier games as I thought that ATB was great! Still, given the reviews that XII got, I dont see them changing that formula anytime soon.

Shame.

Re: Final Fantasy

I actually really liked the battle system in XII. It was great to be able to get chains and have awesome drops from it. I managed to pick up good armor ahead of time by doing that often. Also, good items. And sometimes it would attract really tough enemies that yielded lots of exp.
