Re: Final Fantasy
There are apparently numerous ways to "break" FFVIII's system. I never mastered them (got stuck somewhere, can't remember where), but apparently if you know how to manipulate the systme FFVIII becomes a complete cakewalk. Supposedly the trick is to stay at a low level (enemy levels scale to your own, so just keep from getting experience by running from battles). It's also possible to junction magic to your stats, which makes you a lot more powerful. And I think there's also a way to refine items from magic, or the other way around? Something like that.
It's been forever since I went through FFVIII, and I pretty much relied on GF-spamming through the majority of the game (took me forever to figure out the Draw system), so I'm not really much help. |

Re: Final Fantasy
I only ever used GFs so I could see what it looked like. Other than that, it was brute force. I junctioned everything.

Re: Final Fantasy
Junctioning is the way you are supposed to to go anyway. So, you know...
But if you really wish to gain the benifits of junctioning, wait until you can get to the end of Disk 3, and have totsl control of the Ragnorock. Then go to the Islands of Heaven and Hell, and draw the most powerful spells from the game and junction them to your stats. They also restock really quickly, which is an added benifit.

Re: Final Fantasy
The best thing is to junction your G.F.s to your three characters and junction your magic. You should always watch how the certain stat you chose will change (Ultima is always the highest; I'd recommend that for attack, if you have that spell) and always chose the highest. Than look for your commands, I'd recommend Siren's Treatment, Leviathan's Recover and Alexander's Revive. If you don't have them, use the healing spells and items.
Now for the fight. One should constantly heal Rinoa and cast Shell on her (do the same for your team). Don't use your G.F.s, otherwise you would hurt Rinoa, too. You can use spells but only single target ones. So, better use physical attacks and your limits. I think the easiest way would be Squall's Lionheart, but then again you might not have it and I'm not sure if it was single target or not. Hope, I could help with the little instructions.

Re: Final Fantasy
Well, I've discovered that Rinoa has just over 7000 hp, so you can get away with GF/multiple target spells for one go, then you have to heal Rinoa. Problem is I don't have many Shell spells/stones, so every time I hit Adel I she heals herself with Rinoa. I have used Cactuar on her, but it doesn't last for long what with the healing Rinoa and all that...
Oh, and I'm not quite strong enough to train up on the Islands of Heaven and Hell, I get killed, but at least I know where they are now- I found them the other day Unfortunately, cos I saved stupidly, I;ll have to go back to the end of disc 2 to get to train there, which means getting Odin and Cactuar again, and having to fight Edea.

Re: Final Fantasy
I think you're at the same part I got stuck at. I don't remember ever getting past there. And if I did, the game froze or some such.
A good way to cheat is to keep Zell at low health and just spam his limit break repeatedly. If you choose the easiest combo you can keep the attacks going for a LONG time. But yeah, fighting Adel owned me hard. No GFs = fail for me. |

Re: Final Fantasy
I don't always get a limit break when Zell is low HP, and it's difficult when she keeps killing him
I get what you're saying though- and for an opening to the disc battle, it's unbelievably difficult

Re: Final Fantasy
Any boss in that game is a total and utter push over, just so long as you junction correctly.
The game you really have to be carful in is XII. That game has so few save points comparactivly, it's unbelievable. And I had to level grind in almost every place, and even then, I still got owned a lot (especially the second Cid battle, where he summons that summon creature (can't remember what they'recalled now). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6ut4...om=PL&index=30

Re: Final Fantasy
Youch, hot off the press from the E3 gaming show are a few new trailers for Final Fantasy that I definatly recoomen watching.
Firstly,we have the English trailer for Dissidia, with actual English voices in it!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gR0yuMlZrQ Next up is yet another trailer for XIII. But wait, what's this I hear, could that be English voices!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJkjqS1PY0Q And finally (for the moment), there's a trailer for Final Fantasy XIV, which is another MMORPG, so people will automatically hate it reguardless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH0BM_gEIiE For Dissidia, I suppose the voices so far are alright. Warrior of Light and Firion, however, sound way too similar to each other, and Cloud is just as emotionless as ever. ![]() As for XIII, I just wish Sazh Katzroy (the black guy) didn't sound so steriotypically....black, if you get my drift. Other then that, the rest of the cast sounded quite good. XIV, on the other hand, looks quite fun. I just wish I didn't have to pay a monthly subsription fee to play it, though.

Re: Final Fantasy
Ooooh, Dissidia looks so good!!!
That is one I will definitely need to get when it comes out. Some of the voices do sound too similar, but oh well. At least while playing we can tell the differences in the characters.I didn't even bother with XIV; I don't do MMORPGs because it just isn't practical to me to spend so much a month and not know if or when I'll have a chance to play. The trailer for XIII looks kind of interesting. I'm not sure I'm quite looking forward to it yet, but it seems promising, I guess. It doesn't really grip me. It's the first time I've seen one for it as I hadn't anticipated getting it, but my husband is excited for it to come out on the 360 (I guess they said they were aiming for a spring 2010 release?) so I may as well know a little about it, too. ![]()

Re: Final Fantasy
One day after its announcement, I am already about a thousand times more hyped for FFXIV than I am for FFXIII. Sad.
XIII looks like the most uninspired and generic entry in the series yet. If it didn't have FF in the name I wouldn't even be able to tell it's supposed to be an FF game; it looks like any generic futuristic JRPG. |

Re: Final Fantasy
I thought XII had a pretty unique style about it. Kind of a weird marriage of medieval Europe, Turkish art, and Star Wars. It looked generic until I played it, and came to realize there's nothing quite like it, even in the FF series.
XIII, on the other hand, looks like...I don't know. Xenosaga, or Phantasy Star, but lamer. |

Re: Final Fantasy
I agree with what you say there. I'm more excited for XIII's spinoff's then for the main game. And like I entioned earlier in the thread, the resistance story has been so manytimes, it's unbelievable.

Re: Final Fantasy
I can only hope that what the trailer is presenting and the actual game turn out to be different things. I rather liked FFXII and I wasn't impressed with the trailers for it before it came out - it took me borrowing it from a friend for me to even give it a chance and I ended up putting ridiculous amounts of hours into it.
Still, I'm looking forward to Dissidia the most right now since Versus isn't slated to come out on anything but the PS3 as of yet.

Re: Final Fantasy
Only a couple of months to go before Dissidia's release in America.
Why can't they release the game at the same ime in both the USA and Europe? I mean, it isn't like they've got to translate anything!Unless they add in even more content, like the secret Aeons in X.

Re: Final Fantasy
Maybe it has something to do with the complications of releasing to multiple countries at once? "Europe" in the game world is bigger than just the UK, after all. Doesn't it include Australia and New Zealand in addition to the European countries? Maybe that has something to do with it. I actually have no idea, though I'm sure there must be a pretty good reason.
