Would this change Percy's view of the Weasleys, and cause him to then aid the Order and Harry in the final conflicts?

If this has been posted before please forgive me MODs. I did search for it but may have missed it.
If Percy can only see the error of his ways by having a member of his family sacrifice themself for him then I for one wouldn't want him to join the Order eventually. He should already know how much his parents have suffered for him, and if he can't then let him take the consequences.

I believe Pettigrew got to Percy when he belonged to him as Scabbers. The summer after year one, Percy is very different. Sending owls out left and right. Always in his room. Also, he was caught reading 'Prefect who gained Power."

Also, I think he knew what was going on with Ginny. I think he Possibly helped the situation along. Remember, ginny was going to tell Harry and then Percy walked up and she froze up.

I don't know if he truly wishes for power or if he is under a spell.

What ever the case, he'll die in book 7. Either by a family member in seft defense or trying to save a family member once out from what ever he is under.

Doesn't look good for Percy,

I just hope Percy can see the hurt that he's causing his family and come back to the good side.
Actually, I feel that this is wrong. They don't dislike Percy, they dislike the choices and decisions he's made. There's a difference. If they didn't like him, then his estrangement from them, wouldn't be so painful.

I should have been more clearer because that is what I meant. Ron, Ginny, Fred, and George don't like Percy because of the decisions he's made.

I know Percy deep down has a good heart, but he's letting his clouded mind mess everything up for him.

I just hope that Percy will understand soon what's going on and turn to the good side. I think that he has n't realised yet what is really going on in the ministry because he has gained all this power and doesn't want to lose it.Percy is n't as brave as the other Weasley's but I don't think he can be a traitor. He still loves his family so at some time he will be brave and do the right thing.

If one of the Weasleys did die in the process of saving Percy while he was still against them (so to speak), I doubt that he would be forgiven by the family (with the possible exception of Mrs. Weasley) even if he did try to re-join the fold and want to become a member of the Order. They might not let him become a member. Or want him as one at least. I hope it doesn't play out that way.

I would rather it be the other way around, and Percy dies saving one of his family. It would be nicely ironic if it was one of the twins as they have always treated him with contempt.
It would be a very emotional moment for the Weasley family, realising their most despised member has died for another one, especially if the breach has not been healed, and now never can be.

Minister of Magic....as long as there is power in his job...he's power hungry, aint he!
People like that, don't care who they step on, to get where they're going!

Thinking about him, I think he is under some enchantment. He is acting to weird.
Maybe he will be released from a spell in book 7 and then help Harry.

I like this idea too. It would be interesting to see Percy make a sacrifice for his family. The rest of the family would take his death very hard I imagine.

Anyone got the quote handy? I think that JK said once that Percy's acting of his own accord.

I posted a long opinion on another Percy thread, but the short version's here:
1. I think Percy is still ambitious, and he in all likelihood does want to be the MoM; but
2. I think he'll be redeemed in the end. He's in perfect position to help out Harry, if Harry needs something from the MoM. The Order members (Mr Weasley, Tonks, and Kingsley) aren't trusted enough. But if Harry goes to Percy, Percy could get Scrimgauer to do what's needed. Or Percy may show his Gryffindor colors again and just go behind the Minister's back.

In response to myself from above

Echo: Was Percy acting entirely of his own accord in Order of the Phoenix?
JK Rowling replies -> I'm afraid so.

Source: Accio Quote

This interview was in 2004, between OoTP and HPB. While Percy doesn't appear much in HBP, there is the possibility that b/w OoTP and HBP that he was hit by an Imperius or is actually a DE using Polyjuice. What we do not see, however, is any indication of Percy drinking lots of stuff from a hip flask or what not.

The rest of my thoughts are summarized above .

I wonder if Percy may have to weed out a traitor in his own family perhaps ?

aahhhh Percy, Percy, Percy.... Well I love ALL the Weasleys so I have a little notch inside me that would like to see Percy change his ways in the end. I really hope it doesn't have to take the death of someone close to him though.
He is kind of on the fast track to become the Minister of Magic (although his father would be a better one). What will happen to Percy I just don't know....

Re: Percy Ignatius Weasley -- where to now? v2

Now that I think about it, JK has put Percy in a position where he can help Harry and his friends get info from the MOM from right under their noses. Percy would be, presuming he is starting to miss his family, want to slowly make amends with those around him and try to test the waters and see where they all stand with each other, and to start this he could offer information important to the horcrux hunt to Ron.
I would be interested to see how Percy and Arthur reconcile however, as it was their big fight that finally forced Percy to choose sides and thus divide the family unit. We know that he ignores Arthur at work and even when he came back home in HBP, ignored him and his sibling completely and instead focused on his mother, so the animosity is still there. To be honest I think Percy and Arthur will forever be divided even if they try to patch up their differences as for one, the accusation of his own father calling him a spy would still hurt deeply and two, Arthur will forever be suspicious of one of his own blood becoming such a ministry man.

I've thought this for a while, so it's nice to see someone else think this too

Not sure if Percy would even reconcile with anyone else, except maybe Ron, under this scenario. But Percy's in perfect position at the MoM to help out the trio with the horcrux hunt.
