Re: Smallville
Why is it that eberyone thinks Chloe's on the dead list? Has Allison stated that she's out of season 8 or something? If so, the cast list for S8 is looking pretty thin.

Re: Smallville
Let's hope the big surprise the writers always try for is that Chloe doesn't die even though they've made it seem she will! If the writers killed Chloe, who is the favorite of most of the audience, they'd basically risk ending the show early due to backlash and ratings. It does seem as though they don't care at times, but hopefully the people involved with the show realize the draw of Chloe and her story lines. When Lost first started, they weren't going to have Jack survive. He was only going to be in the first episode. But after many read the script, they had insisted that Jack live. And now, he's the central character of the show. Lost wouldn't kill Jack right now, and I hope that reason will prevail and Smallville won't kill Chloe. I always thought if they killed her, they would save that for the very last episode ever.
I'm not a Chlois believer, but I love Chloe. I think she really is the true hero of the show. I hope that Chloe gets a happy ending. Not only does she deserve it, but they've given her setups which could lead to happy endings: justice league member, world famous reporter (and I think they could do that and still have Lois become one as well), or they could even just give her the man of her dreams, as that would certainly be a nice payoff for all the shafts she's had to endure as far as her love life has gone. On a side note, in the episode where Chloe realizes Bizzarro has taken Clark's place, and Chloe goes to try and talk to Lana about it, I've never hated Lana more than when she tells Chloe that Chloe needs to let go of Clark, and that Clark finally has his priorities straight in his plan to run off with her. I thought Chloe handled that gracefully, but I was hoping a kick in the face would be her reply. I felt like the writers were trying to make us hate Lana, or perhaps they wear the blinders that Clark wears when it comes to Lana Loser, and they just didn't see that people could ever react negatively to Lana, or perhaps even that we shouldn't judge her for it, and should sympathize with her position, because she's Lana Lonely. I wish I could have faith that the writers will salvage the storyline and give the audience the payoffs they've been waiting for, but instead I have dread that all will remain as it is, or maybe worsen. |

Re: Smallville
I think the writers have Lana blinders on. I agree with you about Chloe--she deserves a happy ending as an integral Justice League member or a world-famous reporter, or with a happy relationship with someone worthy of her (though no one's come on the scene yet who fits that description). Preferably, it'd be a combination of the three. However, they seem to have laid the tracks down for her death as a self-sacrifice.
I don't know that that particular Lana/Chloe moment made me hate Lana more than I ever have--I've hated Lana for so long that it's tough to tell degrees anymore, but that was one of her more despicable moments in a season that has seen her character basically fall off a cliff.By the way, I was a Chlois believer right up until they introduced ED as Lois Lane. Now, I'm a Chlois hoper, though frankly, Clark isn't worthy of her--I never thought I'd see a woman who absolutely, positively, deserved better than Superman. ![]() ![]()

Re: Smallville
I am starting to think Chloe will die as well. But wasnt it said that They are trying to add her to the comics? How can they connect them if they are going to kill her off. Seeing as Smallville created her.

Re: Smallville
Maybe the comics folks will treat her better. I'm actually hoping that I'm wrong about Chloe's fate--she deserves a heroine's reward, not a martyr's epitaph.

Re: Smallville
There was a rumor that they were going to add her to the comics, but now they're not. They said that the "stars did not align properly", but that was all. No other explanation. Hmm....maybe because she will get killed off on the show, so why would a dead character be in the comics?
I would love for Chloe to stay around. It would be nice to see her riding off into the sunset with a man worthy of her. It just doesn't seem dramatic enough for Smallville. People that leave either leave dead, go into hiding, go into Bellereve, or go off to fight for justice...did I miss another way?

Re: Smallville
Seconded, she's a true and loyal friend to Clark and she doesn't deserve to go the way that it looks like she'll be going.

Re: Smallville
Okay since we have a little break until the next new episode, we should pick a smallville topic or character to discuss/debate. It doesn't have to be related to season seven but it can be. Any ideas? That way we don't all have to wait until each new episode to have something to talk about on this thread. There's always: fantastic ways to have Clark break up with Lana, our dream man for Chloe, if we could add Chloe to the comics what would the storyline be, why do the writers hate us, does the color of clothes they dress Chloe in reveal the show's view of Chloe, why does everyone in Lex's life feel the need to tell him that he's not capable of love and that he's desperate and pathetic, will anyone else die before the end of the show because of Clark's choosing to save Lana, will pete still be the voice of the obvious or will he be used for additional angst, will smallville have Clark go train at the fortress for a long period of time, what's with the crazy AI Jor-el, why can't we have a tom welling nude scene, why is every female character on the show dressed (beside Chloe usually) dressed so provacatively, why can't tom be more provacative, what percent of the viewers do we expect to feel satisfied with how they choose to end the series, etc.

Re: Smallville
For an English project, we have to research a paper on any topic we want. My friend decided to do it on Superman. Most of my information is from Smallville so I wasn't much help, but the entire class(90 minutes) we were trying to figure out what Kal-El meant. The last five minutes, we finally figured out that it was Hebrew for Vessel of God.
Anyways, I was really annoyed with last week's episode. It was...different and really weird. Nothing really made sense, even though I kind of figured out that Clark was in Lex's mind and watching horror home videos without the video. I still don't get that if Lois and Kara were by Lex, they didn't get found by the police or the ambulance or whoever found them. |

Lol, my thoughts exactly. Let alone the ambulance and police. A high profile multimillionare guy, and there is no kind of investigation or no media frenzy? Please...

Re: Smallville
You see that's the stuff that drives me crazy about Smallville. The writing can be so hit and miss. Then they throw in gratuitous nudity, sex scenes, and lots of large covered breast shots, since they can't completely uncover them. Although I'm still trying to gouge out my eyes over that Lex/Lana sex scene.

Re: Smallville
That's where I hit the skip ahead button on my DVR. Scenes like that are always pointless, but I think they were trying to hit Clark below the belt with Lex showing him it.
And yeah, Smallville does have a way of forgetting plot points that although may not be essential to the over all plot, still need to be tied up.

Re: Smallville
I think they just had to make sure Ms. Kreuk--no, wait a minute--she had that scene in her lair, so that wasn't it either. You're right--completely pointless. Here's a question, how did "Alexander" suddenly morph personalities. Two years seasons ago--maybe three now, some krypto-related nonsense split Lex into dark, brooding, damaged Lex, and white-suit wearing, punctiliously polite Alexander. It was an interesting exercise, except it turned out that Alexander was actually a distillation of President Luthor--or something. He was worse than Lex.
The dream man for Chloe, frankly does not and can not exist on Smallville. It's quite possible that Al, Miles & their boys are simply incapable of creating him. He'd have to look, think, and feel a lot like Clark Kent from Lois & Clark--handsome and bright with depth, heart, and taste--someone who could appreicate Chloe for her mind, her personality, and her looks. However, as we've seen, the L&C Clark Kent shares little more than his name with the Smallville Clark Kent, a true tragedy.

Very off topic, but does anyone know what Jor-El means? I know that El means "god" but that's it. I'm trying to help my friend with a paper she's doing.

Re: Smallville
I only saw part of last nights' episode, but from what I did see -- was just bad
. The writing has just gotten absolutely abysmal. Sad, really -- since the show was originally somewhat promising at the beginning.

Re: Smallville
Last night was a repeat. But yeah, the writing isn't what it used to be. Still a great story though and now that it seems that we're FINALLY past the Lana merry-go-round, hopefully, things will improve.

Re: Smallville
What makes you think the Lana merry-go-round is really dead. There were at least three points this season and a half-dozen points in previous years where, it should, by rights, have ended. Guess what happened. They revived it. It won't actually end until the end of this season--and by that time, Chloe will no longer exist as a bittersweet memory of true friendship, heroism, beauty, and worth.

Re: Smallville
Oh I see, but still with the way that the writers are going with things, I'm not too sure if they'll stop with the Lana merry-go-round. They seem to have a bad habit of sticking with it.
