Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

The Lion King, no contest. My brother and I used to pretend we were Simba and Nala.

Aladdin is my second favorite.

EDIT: Oh, how could I froget 101 Dalmatians?? I LOVED that movie, too! I even had a bed set with 101 Dalmatians on it lol.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

I liked 101 Dalmatians too when I was a kid.

My fave though was Aladdin, The Lion King, Robin Hood (as in the one with the foxes and animals in it), The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.

Jerry Orbach as Lumiere -- just priceless; Robin Williams as Genie -- my all time favorite cartoon movie character ... so manic and full of energy.

For a character like, say, Snow White (and, to a lesser extent, Cinderella and Aurora), the movie comes to her - literally: the huntsman seeks out Snow White and tells her to run away, the dwarfs come back home to find Snow White there, the Queen-disguised-as-crone tracks down Snow White and gives her the poisoned apple - the events that comprise the narrative come to her, she is not really active at all. Ariel is, and she is an actual, multi-dimensional character.
She gives up her voice to be with a man. It's hard to get any more obvious than that in terms of symbolism.

Okay, but she did long to be human before she saw Prince Eric; she doesn't sing "Part of Your World" about him (well, the reprise she does). It's not all about him.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

I love a lot of Disney films, but I think my favorite would have to be "The Lion King." It was the first film I can remember seeing in theaters, so that may have something to do with it. But on top of that, it's such a well-done film in terms of script, music, animation... the whole package, really.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

Lion King was my favourite as a child, will always have a soft spot for that film there's a lot of Disney films I haven't got round to seeing yet, I don't think I've ever seen Aladin!

I'm a real fan of Disney Pixar films now though, Finding Nemo is my favourite with Wall-E and Toy Story (all 3 of them) coming a close second. Oh and Monsters' Inc

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

I'm going to be different and say Hercules. I'm certainly not going to deny how great Aladdin, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast are. I've always thought Hades was a great villain. Too bad he didn't get a song. And Meg's one of my favorite leading ladies because she's so different. She's not a princess or a heroine, she's completely snarky and cynical, and very hard on herself, but she's funny. As a kid the Titans were awesome, I wish they would've done more with them. Pain and Panic are pretty amusing minions as well. Add in Pegasus and Danny DeVito as Phil for good measure, and you have a great movie.

I was also obsessed with Winnie the Pooh as a child. I didn't have the full version of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but I had 'Blustery Day' and 'Tigger Too', as well as nearly the whole series of the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh on VHS.

As for best Pixar (which is Disney now), I'm gonna go with The Incredibles. I love superheroes.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

The Hunchback of Notre Dame. It's the most honest Disney film, with the most real characters, and the musical score gives me chills, especially Hellfire.

Tarzan & The Lion King are close second and third.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

I love Disney movies, but my all-time favorite is probably Sleeping Beauty. And Maleficent is one of the most vile Disney villains. She doesn't get invited to a party so she casts a spell that will kill their only child. That's vindictive.

Yes, but the male love interest is so much cooler! Prince Erik I could take or leave, but the Beast is another story.

Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite Disney, with Mulan in second place.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the way the Beast looked as a prince (aka Prince Adam.) I liked him better as a beast.

And by the way, what was with the spell? The enchantress changes Prince Adam into a beast because he's a jerk, but why does she punish everyone else in the castle too? I'd be pretty mad if I were turned into a teapot because my master was a jerk.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

Mulan by a landslide!! Actually, I'm pretty sure it's my favorite movie ever and always has been ever since I first saw it. I recently got it on DVD. Love, love, love it!

I also really enjoy...
LIon KIng
Aladdin
Tarzan

I'm a huge Disney fan in general, so I am obsessed with all the Disney movies. I wish I owned them all on DVD like I used to on VHS.

Re: What's your favourite Disney movie?

Beauty and the Beast, without a doubt, hands down. Nobody villians like Gaston! It has the most likeable Disney Princess, the best male lead for any of the Disney Princess movies, and the best music in any Disney movie, or for that matter any movie, bar none.

After that, we get The Little Mermaid, The Aristocats, Aladdin, Hercules, Sword in the Stone, The Great Mouse Detective, and...well all the rest. I can't think of a single Disney non-sequal which was anything less then excellent.

Beauty and the Beast was the best though.

Hades had a song! It wasn't sung by him, but it was all about him, and most of the songs in that movie were sung by the Muses anyways.
