I liked Seven with the doctor better (iirc). It made sense that they were together. Two beings trying to find out more about themselves.

As for Janeway and Chakotay... here on that. I really hoped that they'd be together. Yep. That darn command structure . There's nothing wrong with her getting a little on the side with him .

I agree. They could be discreet. It wasn't as if they weren't flirting with each other anyways. It would have changed their relationship though. But honestly i think they could both be professional about it. That was all sort of left open a bit anyways because they changed what we saw in the future anyways. Another reason i would rather them have moved forward in time with the next series instead of doing a prequel. Maybe we could have gotten a visit or two with some of the Voyager crew in the future.

Definitely. I think so as well. It's not like it would have messed with things too much there.

Maybe, that would be a good idea.

Re: Star Trek

I would have loved to have seen more of the Janeway&Chakotay relationship. Not only his passive admiration for her and hers putting up a wall between them in their closest moments.
Not strictly a partnership, if it would not have been possible, but passion, burning desire and deeper friendship then they've had. Strictly confidential, of course. so how will it work? In reality only Tuvok and The Doctor..oh, and of course Q, know.
Tuvok is the Security Officer on this ship but this is not why he knows about Janeway&Chakotay's relationship. It is the simple fact of being Kathryn's closest and oldest friend on board. She tells him in a moment of grave danger wih no certain chance of survival. She will not regret it later.
The Doctor, as unlikely a confession chair...pardon, ear to Captain Janeway as he is, must handle her fit of the short but severe form of tarkanian flu which simptoms include fever, hallusinations and odd sense of erotic tension. In her fit Janeway speaks enough, and in a highly colorful manner of Chakotay, enough for the Doctor to guess the truth and confront him. Chakotay does not deny his relationship with Kathryn Janeway. The Doctor is sternly forced to promise never to reveal the truth.

...Wouldn't it have been nice, I ask you?

The thing is, those two in particular were also nominally trying to find out more about humanity, which may or may not have been more difficult if they were romantically attached. Part of their growth was necessarily embracing the kinds of habits and relationships of normal humans, so just seems like a step backwards to me if they had decided to be "outcasts together" or something.

Well, as established in the Next Generation episode "Lessons," there wasn't a particular Starfleet regulation prohibiting relationships within a command structure. Picard saw Lt. Commander Daren romantically until it became clear that they would be unable to reconcile their personal and professional demands. Which does make one wonder why there isn't just a regulation prohibiting it.

There also seems to be some precedent, albeit very early and rather complicated, in that T'Pol and Commander Tucker became romantically involved despite both being department heads and T'Pol being first officer over Tucker.

As for Janeway and Chakotay, don't really see it as inevitable that they'd get together, even if it would have been plausible. For one thing, I think they'd both recognize how problematic such a relationship could be, and especially in such closed system as Voyager was. But more than that, I think their friendship was genuine. To me the emergence of romantic feelings on either side would have undermined it significantly, and called the results of their working relationship into question.
