Good Day Everyone,

I'm sorry to say that CoS Forums is going to shut down in the Summer, sometime around July. This isn't an early April Fools joke either.

The Forums have become quite expensive to run and manage. There's a lot (LOT) less traffic coming to the site these days as Harry Potter becomes less of a topical debate for people.

I held on for a while after the last film, wondering whether JK would announce anything surprising, but I find that even if she did it wouldn't serve to help the diminishing numbers on the site or my bank balance!

Myself, I've been absent a lot more in the past year as personal issues have taken over and I've had to work longer hours, to earn more money to keep the forums going as well as pay for things like rent, utilities and god knows what else.

Some of you will be sad and I'm sure others will be happy. I'm not doing this lightly and I could have closed the site last year but held off. I know this may upset some of you who've come to see this place as a haven with friends and I'm very sorry it has to go but I've kept this place going with money out of my own pocket for 10 years now and it's no longer financially viable to do so. Please understand that this is not an easy decision!

Some of you may wish to offer to help, to donate or even take on the site. Whilst I would listen to any suggestions, I will not accept donations as this would be unsustainable in the long-term. If you wanted to take on CoS, be aware that you would need to find $200 per month and to be honest with you all I'm not sure I'm prepared to let the site be taken over by anyone. I've created a thread for comments. The other staff know only as much as the above. There is no Plan B as far as they are concerned, so do not pester them for answers to questions. If they do not know, they are being totally honest.

Many thanks to everyone who for the last 10+ years have worked in one way or another on the site. All the staff, past and present who gave their time and energy to making the community work. Every single person gave their time for free and were never paid for their efforts. It was a labor of love for all.
Many thanks to the members, those who came & went and dared to stay. Every single one of you who contributed to the site, to the discussions and events. You were the ones who made the site what it became, from the all the book releases to the heated, sometimes famous debates about all sorts of topics. You made CoS what it was. So thank you.

Woot! My third thread. What a role Im on

Well anyway, a few months ago I had a thread specifically for my icons and such but unfortunatly had some problems with them getting hotlinked and such but I do believe things have gotten far better and decided to start sharing my graphics work with the general public again. Even better, I'd like to make this thread open to everyone to post there icon graphics work as to avoid the surge of individual graphic threads. Wouldnt it be nice if we could all just pull together into one thread?

Anyway, a few rules I guess should be layed out for everyone to be aware of.
  1. Please post only your work. Any posts of work that is not your own will be reported
  2. Please keep all graphics work appropriate and in accordance with COS Family Friendly policy. and here
  3. Only Harry Potter graphics
  4. Please post only icon/avatar sized or small signature graphics. No large banners
  5. If you decide to take a graphic please comment that you are snagging it.
  6. Please, if you are using off site credit the maker.
  7. Please do not hotlink. Save it to your computer and host it on your own bandwidth.
  8. NO REQUESTS. If you have a request please privatly owl the graphic maker.
  9. Any questions contact Evita82
  10. Enjoy!

Thanks... not sure if I read this right but I meant that if they were going to use it someplace other then COS that they should credit. I dont condone posting others work Will have to clarify that.

Nadine- I really love the textured background with the soft dreamy look of Harry and Dumbledore. Great work

Hi Evita!

I really like the way you've used lighting effects on many of them. Particularly on your second icon post, the fourth icon on the top line. Hermione's hair looks like the sun is rising behind it. How did you achieve that?

And if I was Evanna it would be really spooky to see myself made into an avatar

Thanks for the comments!

For that Hermione graphic all I did was use one light texture that I made awhile ago and set it to soft light Quite easy. Yes, I'd be a bit creeped out if people started making icons of me too It would be interesting to see what they did with it!

Well, thanks! I think it's a graphic... I don't find another way to call it! LOL
About the brushes... I made some, and downloaded some... I use Corel Pant Shop Pro X, by the way, in case you want to know...

Rlf- Well you know I love your graphics! Especially the cropping ont he last Remus icon in the third row. Very nice

Al - I am absolutly green with envy at your talent. When I can get my icons to be that vivid with color my life will be comeplete

Just 4 right now that I just made. My four favorite ships! Do you have any idea how hard it is to make a Severus/Lily icon using the actual actors and not make Alan look like a dirty old man. I tried. I meant for him to look younger.. *rambling*
