Is it possible Dumbledore was evil?

I tend to feel also that if it was to come to light that Dumbledore was evil, then JKR would have run out totally of storylines.

If Dumbledore was evil, he wouldn't have protected Harry for so many years. He wouldn't have been the head of the Order as well. Dumbledore was never evil, he is on the most good-hearted characters in the book.

I don't personally feel that Dumbledore is evil but it is interesting to remember Voldemorts words from PS/SS "There is no good and evil there is only power and those to weak to seek it."

That was from Voldemort's point of view, but McGonagall commented in one of the books that Dumbledore could but chooses not to use Voldemort's type of magic to counter him. I think Voldemort saw this as a weakness but it will probably be seen as a strength of Dumbledore because he is uncorrupted by the temptation of power.

No, I don't think Dumbledore is evil - he is compassionate and loving and I think he willingly laid down his life in the tower to save the others. Someone evil could never have done that.

I have never even given a thought as to whether dumbledore was evil or not. to me he has alwyas been portrayed and is still a good character. dumbledore said himself on mutiple occaisions that he would never join the darker side or be evil. i am not sure when he has said this since at the moment i don't have my books out but i am aware that he has mentioned such things. also dumbledore is also a faithful and loyal order member as we know and has fought with the good side for who know how long. we have also seen numerous times dumbledore fight against evil, especially voldemort. everyone else trusted dumbledore to the end and most of the main characters know him quite well, particularly harry and i think they would have seen or witnessed or figure something out to show that he is actually evil. nope, never crossed my mind at all. dumbledore is loving, caring, trustworthy, brave, and much more and i have no doubt that he is good...and always will be.

Hm, I've never thought about this theory, probably because it never struck me while reading. While it's obvious that Dumbledore has an immense amount of power, I think that he's been using said power for good, not evil. He's battled Voldemort, he's protected Harry as best as he can, and he was on a quest to destroy Horcruxes, above other things. He's always been portrayed as a good character, and I think that if he was evil, going through with all those good things that he did would have no purpose.

Possible, yes, but not probable. He's protected Harry so much and fought against Voldemort many times. He's proved himself a better wizard than Voldemort, so it's not as if he's trying to defeat him (and Grindewald) so that he could be the next great dark wizard. With his theories on love, and the fact that he is very emotionally ruled, I doubt he's evil. So I'd be very dissappointed if he is - well, was.

Good and evil are points of view. Depending on where you're standing he could be evil....but he could also be good.
