Good Day Everyone,

I'm sorry to say that CoS Forums is going to shut down in the Summer, sometime around July. This isn't an early April Fools joke either.

The Forums have become quite expensive to run and manage. There's a lot (LOT) less traffic coming to the site these days as Harry Potter becomes less of a topical debate for people.

I held on for a while after the last film, wondering whether JK would announce anything surprising, but I find that even if she did it wouldn't serve to help the diminishing numbers on the site or my bank balance!

Myself, I've been absent a lot more in the past year as personal issues have taken over and I've had to work longer hours, to earn more money to keep the forums going as well as pay for things like rent, utilities and god knows what else.

Some of you will be sad and I'm sure others will be happy. I'm not doing this lightly and I could have closed the site last year but held off. I know this may upset some of you who've come to see this place as a haven with friends and I'm very sorry it has to go but I've kept this place going with money out of my own pocket for 10 years now and it's no longer financially viable to do so. Please understand that this is not an easy decision!

Some of you may wish to offer to help, to donate or even take on the site. Whilst I would listen to any suggestions, I will not accept donations as this would be unsustainable in the long-term. If you wanted to take on CoS, be aware that you would need to find $200 per month and to be honest with you all I'm not sure I'm prepared to let the site be taken over by anyone. I've created a thread for comments. The other staff know only as much as the above. There is no Plan B as far as they are concerned, so do not pester them for answers to questions. If they do not know, they are being totally honest.

Many thanks to everyone who for the last 10+ years have worked in one way or another on the site. All the staff, past and present who gave their time and energy to making the community work. Every single person gave their time for free and were never paid for their efforts. It was a labor of love for all.
Many thanks to the members, those who came & went and dared to stay. Every single one of you who contributed to the site, to the discussions and events. You were the ones who made the site what it became, from the all the book releases to the heated, sometimes famous debates about all sorts of topics. You made CoS what it was. So thank you.

didn't voldemort summon the sorting hat, and forced it on neville and then his charm or curse or whatever he was using to put the fire all ove neville break and neville pulled the sword out and killed Nagini.....because only a true gryffindor could pull the sword out in time of need, right?

Pretty much, except I think only the hat was set on fire. I wonder, now, whether the Hat was destroyed, since none of Voldie's spells were working very well, at least against the people he used them on. He body-bound Neville for a short bit, but as soon as the Hat was on fire, Neville was able to break free and pull the Sword as he removed the Hat.

In CoS, when Mr. Weasley got home from an all-nighter and Harry was sitting at the table, Ron introduced them. Mr. Weasley's reaction was very bland for someone meeting the most famous person in the wizarding world. I would have thought he would have had a more enthusiastic reaction.

How long was Quirrel DADA teacher before he went to Romania and met up with Voldemort? Percy says to Harry after the sorting that Snape had been wanting Quirrel's job for years.

I've always been thinking this exact same thing! It's just 'are you really?' lol I've just learned to accept it really

That was Quirrel's first year, as Dumbledore said, no professor has been able to last for more than one year since Voldemort came asking for it. Percy meant more along the lines of the 'Defence Against the Dark Arts' job, rather than 'Quirrel's job'.

Quirrell's job was Defense Against Dark Arts teacher. Voldie wanted that job since just after he (Voldie) graduated, and cursed the job, so that whoever took it never lasted more than a year.

I think Quirrell had the job and went in the Summer to Romania (Albania?) then came back and as the Voldie/Quirrell Hybrid had another year in the job. But I could be wrong.

This isn't really about the movies...

Quirrell took a year abroad before Harry's first year, so there was another DADA teacher that year. The year before that, Quirrell could have taught for a year, or some people have the idea that he was the Muggle Studies teacher then

That is an interesting idea, but, of course, is not cannon. I think what is important though is that Quirrell was only the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for one year. I sort of like the speculation that he was the Muggle Studies professor though.

Where can I get the sound tracks to the movies? Once when I was at Target, I saw the sound track from one of the movies, but when I went back at a later date, I couldn't find it. I saw the c.d. around Christmas, and it was after Christmas when I checked again and it was gone. I don't even remember what movie it was from.

Nope he would have done it better then any of the other who did it afterwards.Most people who have read the books would still recognize them.The actors are ok ,most of them anyway i do not like the new Dumbledore makes him into a completely wrong character,but the ones who wrote the scripts should have been sacked at least.I am really disappointed Rowling allows it all to happen guess cash is more important in the end.Sorry don't want to offend anyone but i am getting more disappointed with each new movie.

Maybe it's just clumsily worded. Voldemort had wanted the job for years, i.e. DADA, but it doesn't follow that it had been Quirrel's job and nobody else's, for years.
