Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I'll keep reading the books, but I think my interest will slowly die out. Unless, there is some kind of spinoff... I would enjoy that very much. That would probobly get me back into the Harry Potter groove.
I expect they'll do remake upon remake of the films, as it will almost never stop making money, so that might stimulate me. |

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
Oh please stop at the mention of the HP series being over! (even though I know it is coming) I think I will still watch the movies and read the books, but I am upset at Rowling about how she won't make any prequels.

I'll keep reading also, but I'm going to be sad because then we'll know everything! No more significent theories to discuss...shame.

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I am just going to keep reading and reading and reading until I have every word memorized, or close, and this is the honest truth. I wouldn't worry, though. I am sure that JKR is not altogether done with HP. There may be more charity books. If she IS done, then we can expect some sort of cartoon or mini series. Harry Potter will be around for along time, I am not too worried that this will all just go away. Personally, I am just going to create some more theories and maybe right a book or something on the plot, themes, atc. on the books. Who knows

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
As with most here, I think, we will read and re-read the books and continue to discect them. I think JKR is surprised at the depths we will plumb with her books. We study them like text books; I highlight and make notes in the margins, keep them near the computer for reference when I'm on-line and I watch and re-watch the movies.(even though I get frustrated at the changes and omissions)

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I will be over it rather quickly, I think. It's not a series to obsess over. Once it's gone, it's gone. You can re-read them as much as you like, but after so many times, it's oing to become boring. Move on, find something new. There are better things out there than Harry Potter, believe it or not.

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
While that is true, DevilishAngel, there is also truth in the books. I think that is one reason the series is so popular. Think of other books that are read and re-read by fans, that have websites and such; the Rings trilogy, for example. A good book, one that is deep, is hard to come by. And having an entire series is rarer still.

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I'm going to read other stuff... Before HP, I never really cared to read anything other than comic books, but, Now, I've started reading a lot more.. .. I imagine after HP, I'll move on to other books.. But, HP will always be my favourite, as I've been a rabbid fan for about 6 years now..

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
When it is all over I will most likely buy a box set of all 7 volumes so that I can keep them until my children are old enough to read them for themselves. I will also probably revisit them occasionally and most definitely at least once to see if there are any clues I can see now that I know what the outcome is going to be.

I will keep reading the HP books still but also probably go on to other series that envolve magic and wizards. Thats the only type of books I read now. I am hooked to the wizarding world i can't help it!

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
In a way book six was a lot easier to wait for because we all wanted the book and that was that. With book seven, I'm personally having mixed feelings - I want it, of course, but seeing as it's the last book in the series, after I've read it I'll know that's 'it'. There will be no eighth book to wait for, though J.K. did say she might write an encyclopedia or something along those lines.
I will probably just continue reading a few different series here and there as I am now. Nothing I've read so far has captivated me like HP has, but there may be a book or series in the future that does. Discussing the contents of book seven will likely hold me for a good while, but after that who knows? I have quite a few other interests to fall back on, thankfully, so it's not like I'll be found rocking back and forth in a corner muttering for more HP books -- can't say the same for others, though. ![]() |

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
Well I read a lot of other stuff as well as the HP series so it won't be the end of the world for me. I'll be a little upset but we'll still have seven books to re-read as often as we like and eventually seven films to go with them. It would be nice if JKR wrote a few prequels and possibly the encyclopedia of the wizard word that she's mensioned a few times, but I rather admire her for finishing it and moving on. I think if she just carried on writing HP she would be taking the easy route, it might be quite difficult for her to end the series in a way that will satisfy both her and us.
EDIT: And even when JKR has done with it there is is always fanfiction to read. Last edited by Aqua; May 16th, 2006 at 5:56 pm. |

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
If the last book doesn't turn out the way I wanted, I'll just read fanfictions on it that have an ending I'd like. However, I'll just read HP fanfictions

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I guess I could read fanfic too, I will miss it, looking foward the next book coming out and stuff like that. Maybe JKR will write another book that will be about the wizarding world again, that isn't Harry Potter related directly, but it may give us somthing to talk about.

Re: What will we do when the HP Series is over? v2
I find that right now, after a few months goes by I get this very strong urge to read the books again. I listen to them on audio (Jim Dale). I get the warm fuzzy feeling when I read the books so I don't think that will end. It's like settling in to your favorite movie. I put the cd's in and crochet while I listen.
