Re: Will you lose interest?

I don't think I'll lose interest in the least. I've read each book multiple times and find new things each time. I watch the movies repeatedly...the series so far still is able to capture my interest.

Of course, if there are two things JKR could do to bring this all together, it would be:
1.) the publishing of Hogwarts: A History
2.) publish all her notes in the form of personal journals or something so we could get all the interesting backstory that she has admitted to having about the characters and their families.

Re: Will you lose interest?

I think the interest will stay on a more fangirl/boy level while the films are being done but large communities like CoS won't survive past that, it'll be a smaller group of people discussing things around Harry Potter and it will trickle out and disapear after a while. Unlike books like The Lord of the Rings there's not as much to discuss as the story of HP covers seven years (more or less) and that it. LotR covers thousands of years and several people and big adventures. And since a thing like LotR has lost a HUGE part of it's fanbase after the release of the last film I don't think the HP community will last.

Re: Will you lose interest?

I personally don't belive I will lose interest after it's all over and I'm sure the books will keep attracting new fans as the years go by. They will probably age well and children today who are to young to even know what Harry Potter is, are going to read it and love it when they get older. Just like their parents! I for one will definitely read the books to my children if I ever have one.

Re: Will you lose interest?

My interest will gradually fade away after the last book is released. I can't wait to get some closure so I can finally get a life.

Re: Will you lose interest?

Perhaps it won't 'suck' as much time out of my life as it does now, but I have experience that leads me to believe I won't lose interest. Whenever I was fan of something in such an obsessive rate it never ceased to exist for me.
It will only become more of a nostalgic thing, but that's really all. Nowadays I still love to watch Dragonball Z, Lord of the Rings, The Tribe; all things I've obsessed over in a way. I even daresay The Tribe and LOTR have never reached the extent of my Potter-obsession. So, there you go..

Re: Will you lose interest?

I won't lose interests. And I think that many people won't. I can always read all books again, watch the movies, listen to HP music. I think that discussion on forum will continue. Of course, there won't be more speculations what will happen next, but still we will be able to talk about the heros, the events etc. Think about LOTR fans. They enjoy re-reading and re-watching the movies all the time. If you really like something you won't lose interest so easily.

I think it'll be like the end of the Lord of the Rings movies. I still like them, but I don't watch them anymore. I think I will lose interest after a while.

I agree with the depressive nature with this thread I will probably loose interest after the release of book seven. I will still see the movies, of course, but my zeal for the series will slowly die away. Now, if JKR releases other books which are similar then it my interest may continue.

Couldn't agree more!!! I particularly love the idea about publishing the notes, and would love to read "Hogwarts: A History" if JKR ever decided to do that.

I realize there are many HP fans out there who will move on to other interests, and I expect fan activities like this forum will close at some point because participation has dwindled, and that's okay. (I'd probably get a lot more work done, both in my office and at home, if I obsessed less over Harry Potter). But I don't see myself EVER losing my interest because, like ID824 said, I've read each book multiple times and find new things each time.

For me, the Potter books are kind of like occlumency lessons (minus the attacks from Snape). I can sit down in the late evening with one of my books, read a couple chapters and shut out all the "stuff" that's filled up my head during the day. It's my little escape from reality that lets me relax and go to bed at night with a clear head, peaceful thoughts, dreamless sleep and awake refreshed and ready to face the new day.

I'll be grateful once Book Seven is out. I'll probably celebrate and relax once it's all over. Looking forward to it.

Die.

No, seriously... I think I'll write my own fanfiction to keep myself breathing. Anyways, I don't think the Harry Potter books will ever stop beign written. I am super sure that Jo will write stuff for charity. Even little books like Quidditch through the ages will keep me alive.

I'll probably write a whole bunch of fanfic and be eager for the reast of the movies to come out. By the time all of them do I'll probably be in university and have lots of worries, but I'll never lose intrest completely. I'll always reread the books every once in a while and keep my stuffed Hedwig in my room.

Does anyone Else need closure?

Okay so I know half of you are going to be throwing darts at me for saying this, but I think i am ready for Harry Potter to end. Dont get me wrong I am an avid fan and have read all the books at least 7 times. But it has been such a big part of my life for so long that I think I am ready for this chapter to end.
I have to admit JK spoiled me. I love the way she writes and just captures me in her books. It is like i am wisked away to the world of Harry Potter. I guess what i am saying is that I am constantly thinking about what could happen and wonding what clues I have missed. As sad as I will be when the story is over I am ready for the story to end.

Anyone else feel this way? Any one Disagree?

Re: Does anyone Else need closure?

Agree!!!!! I was just thinking about this today when I was answering the poll on mugglenet and saw that most people want Andrew to ask for another book to be written. Personally I'd rather end it at 7 have the loose ends wrapped up and be done with it. Then I can peacefully reread them anytime I want and not have to worry about how everything will be resolved in the end.
